I first used Shanel's when they preserved my flowers. They gave me a discount certificate to preserve my dress and assured me that they used a reliable cleaner. I picked up my dress and thought it was in good shape. My co-worker told me about National Gown Cleaners in Campbell and suggested that I call them to check and see if the box I received in my preservation service was archival. I called and spoke with Liz. She said that she could use a PH testing pen to check the box and it wouldn't cost me anything. She said she preferred me opening the box with her in case there was any questions about damages or stains. I went in to National Gown yesterday and met with Liz. When she took the gown out of the box we noticed that the beads had melted all over the gown. The contact information for the cleaners was printed on the box so I decided to call the cleaner while I was at National Gown. I spoke with a lady from the cleaners who told me that this has never happened before. I told her that I was at National Gown Cleaners and I have a witness to the damage they caused to my dress. She accused me of lying. I asked her how they would fix my gown or how would they pay me for the damages? She told me that they could not be sure they did the damage, since I had taken it out of the box. She said that their insurance doesn't cover the replacement cost. It had been worn and there would be deprecation on the gown. "It's like driving a car off the lot, it's no longer worth the value you just paid. Ok, let me get this straight? If I send my gown back to them there's no commitment that they would pay me for the damages or fix it? Then there's the risk that they could lose it, not return it to me, but have my gown? I asked her why taking the gown out of the box negates any responsibly they have? Hopefully someone will want to wear the gown and isn't this the point in having it preserved? I tried calling Shanel's but the line was busy. Liz already had another customer waiting so I had to decide what to do. Liz offered to have her boss Christine call Shanel's owner for me since they've known each for many years. Christine could ask her what type of cleaning solvent they used and the contact person at the cleaners. I thought the call on my behalf could be helpful to me. Liz gave me an estimate to fix my gown. Confused, I called my husband. He reminded me that I had a damaged gown and that I could send it back to Shanel's who would only send it back East, or I could deal directly with the cleaner who's accusing me of being a lair, or I could leave it with National Gown and deal with one company that's local and can fix it. So, I tossed out the old box and tissue (which Liz confirmed wasn't acid free) and decided to have National Gown fix it. While writing this review Christine called to tell me that she talked with Melanie yesterday Melanie couldn't be sure which cleaners the gown was sent to without having the box back along with my name and information, and that without this box she couldn't help. Are you kidding me? How many places does Shanel's send gowns to? Why is Melanie so caught up on the box and not my damaged dress? Christine was disappointed and felt that her conversation with Melanie was uncomfortable. Ok, these are my issues with Shanel's Flowers: * Shanel's Flowers sent my dress out of the state and now it's damaged, but they can't tell the company willing to fix my gown (who the owner personally knows) where the gown was sent because she's not sure where she sent it? * Shanel's Flowers says that I should have kept my box because it is very important since it has my name and other information printed on it. Never mind that the box wasn't acid free and my gown was damaged and the box was useless. * Shanel's Flowers claim that the company they sent my gown to uses acid free materials, but when tested with a PH testing pen it shows that both the tissue and box are acidic. If the box and tissue aren't acid free then what kind of preservation did I pay for? * Shanel's Flowers claims the cleaner they recommend is good and reliable but when this company is confronted with calls of concern or damage, the customer is called a liar. Sounds like maybe Shanel's Flowers needs to find a new company who values their customers or get out of cleaning gowns? * Christine from National Gown calls Shanel's Flowers on my behalf to see about helping me fix the dress but instead is made to feel like she was getting put in the middle of a problem she was only trying to remedy. Melanie, where's the concern for your customers? I would have thought that you would do whatever you could to make this right with me especially since I'm willing to pay someone else to fix the damage your apart of creating. Because of how Shanel's Flowers has handled this so far, I would not recommend them to anyone! I'm out money, time and satisfaction by having used Shanel's Flowers to preserve my gown read more

How I wish YELP would allow us to give NO stars! I brought my daughters flowers in to be done when I lived in Saratoga and was told it would be done in about 6 weeks. I told them that I was moving to San Francisco in 8 weeks and wanted to make sure they were done before I moved. Well, after 2 months I got a call that my order was done. Now I had to take time off work to go down to Campbell and when I picked them up they looked old and all the color was gone. When I said that I wasn't happy they told me sorry but that is what it normally looks like. I had two choices, take the flowers and pay them or just call it a day and leave them. Well, I took them and decided to call it a bad day. When I got home I looked at my wedding photos only to notice that I was missing MANY of the original flowers in the arrangement. I called Shanel's and they told me that they do their best in replacing flowers that don't hold up in the freeze drying process. Well, I again realized that I made a bad decision using them and it would be useless to waste my time anymore trying to get them to take responsibility. I would suggest that if you decide to leave your flowers TAKE PHOTOS of your flowers!!!!! In the end, they are very expensive and not worth it! read more

During the quote stage, Apis was very communicative with us and accommodating of requested changes and estimates for additional services. Our vision for our florals was pretty specific, which was why during the design mockup stage, we were really in awe of their designs and felt that our vision had been heard and understood perfectly. They were able to pull in specific flowers that we loved (sometimes when we weren't even sure of their names and only had cropped screenshots to give them!) and found complimentary ones that matched our color scheme. We were impressed that they stuck around throughout the first parts of the day too, instead of just dropping off the flowers and leaving. They helped me figure out how to best position the bouquet for my entrance so that it looked natural and displayed the blooms beautifully as I descended the (massive) staircase into our ceremony. They also noticed the groomsmen slipping around in their shoes on the rain-soaked terrain, and immediately jumped in with a solution to add some traction to the soles so we wouldn't have any falls! They were even nice enough to gift us some of the vases which we had used as centerpieces. THANK YOU APIS!

I'm someone who gets overwhelmed with too much decision making, and I didn't really have a specific vision for my wedding flowers going in. I knew that I wanted purple and I wanted whimsy but that was about it. Our venue, Nestldown, already has beautiful gardens and landscaping and is surrounded by redwoods so I wasn't sure how much more I wanted to add as far as botanicals. Efrain was the perfect person to help us bring a cohesive look together. He asked great questions about the general feel we wanted for the day and gave us some recommendations of what we could do. I also really loved that he never tried to upsell us. He let us know if an idea seemed like too much, was unnecessary or would take away from the natural beauty of the venue. I knew that I wanted to use flowers and greenery that were in season as much as possible. It tends to be better for the environment, is less expensive and makes it more likely that we will be able to get blooms in large quantities when we need them because they are readily available. I could tell that this was also something that was important to them which made me very happy. At our second meeting they created a mock up of what our table centerpieces could look like. I was blown away! It felt like they had figured out exactly what I wanted when I didn't even know myself. Efrain also looked at pictures of my dress, my bridesmaids dresses and my husband's suit to better coordinate our personal flowers for the day. They also figured out how best to reuse as many of the arrangements as possible for different parts of the day which also helped us cut down on cost. On the day of the wedding, Efrain was so sweet! I could tell he was excited to show me what they had created and he personally wanted to hand me my bouquet. They stayed throughout the day to help move things around and make sure everything looked beautiful. They even added some magic to our wedding cake with fresh flowers! We were able to keep all of our arrangements, and we ended up re-using them for a 'Recovery Day' party we had the next afternoon. The flowers all still looked so beautiful a few days after the wedding that, after setting some aside to dry and preserve, I put the rest outside my front door and invited our neighbors to come pick flowers for their homes.
