Very disappointed. Scheduled almost a week in advance to ensure we would have a chimney inspection for a home closing in NJ that is moving along quickly. Day of inspection they were nowhere to be found within the allocated time window. No calls to us to inform us they were running behind. We had to call multiple times and now we're outside of the window and won't be able to get an inspection on this property. This was the ONLY day we were able to get this done. We utlimately had to cancel because we had blocked off half a day for this inspection but not the rest of the day and will just risk going to closing with something wrong. Very VERY disappointed as I had used them very recently for a cleaning and inspection in CT and was very happy with their service. That being said... it should've raised a few flags with me when I had asked for him to give me a price on a new liner so I would know what i'm looking at and that I wouldnt be moving forward until earliest the spring on this project, yet they proceeded to SPAM call me practically non-stop for a week at least 3-4 times a day without leaving a message (most likely to use their hard sell sales tactics like they did when I called to schedule aforementioned no-show appointment) I should've known then not to hire them again after this... It's been so hard lately to find good reliable service. I would not recommend them, unfortunately... even though the technicians were good when they showed up the first time. Hi, We purchased a Groupon special and setup an appointment to have the work done. Three re-schedules from their side with excuses. This caused us to reschedule our routine each time. This is unprofessional and just wrong. Three strikes . . . Your out! We should have looked at the yelp before hiring! Groupon refunded the money their way immediately. I had Shamrock out to remove grout and repoint approximately 6 layers of brick at the top of my chimney. I had them also inspect the condition of my flue. I was disappointed in the way they replaced the concrete in between layers. I thought they would have used a pointing tool but instead used their fingers . The cleanup was poor because there were chips of concrete left on the ground ; nearby windows were left dirty with drippings from the removal of old grout. The installation of the inner liner they used to fix the flue was done correctly ( I hope ) and they left behind a bucket full of the old furnace sheet metal. I would rate the work done on the brick work a 3 out of 10; and the work on the liner a 7 out of 10. I should have waited and had them give me a quote and then checked their reviews and BBB rating. Requested inspection and estimate for a house i am purchasing. They cancelled on me the first day they were scheduled and then scheduled me for a window between 2-4. I requested a 45 minute heads up to which two people handling scheduling agreed to. 4:25 I call and ask what happened. The guy on the phone says "we are still in the window" but i say, the house is 45 min away. He proceeds to tell me that "I guess it wont work today then. What do you want me to do? Send someone with Covid?" He also says "why would you pay someone to inspect someone else's chimney?" Immediately after the call, i get a text from the technician saying they are 5 minutes away. It is 4:30 now and sun has set. While i am explaining the whole thing to my realtor, i get 5 calls from the company, no messages. When i get off the phone i get two calls, one from the tech, to whom i explained the story. This place is a scam. They did work in 2020.. I knew something was off by the smell and the way the basement filled with smoke when I used it after they serviced my chimney for $2100. This company looks like it has started operating in NH. They tried to pressure us to pay for chimney liner same day and agree. I asked for an insurance certificate and they produced one with an address that was a CVS on the West side of Manchester. They had no physical address. Insurance broker is out of New York State, where company with this name, in same town as insurance broker, has a one-star rating and many complaints. The van had NY license plates. The business is not registered in NH. When my husband started asking questions they ran to the van, slammed the doors and took off fast. I would never hire this company and I'm concerned it's a scam. read more

Shamrock service was inadequately completed and resulted in the installation of a wrong size damper/ masonry work of a child on the chimney stack/ cement on new roof/ and non responsive to my photos and follow up calls on their lifetime guarantee which is invalid. would not recommend our use this company for any chimney services or repairs. They will also try to upsell you on repairs that are not needed and in my case charged $1800. read more

This company is absolute garbage. I had a chimney liner installed and was told I had a lifetime warranty. A few months later I had smoke coming in the house from the connector so I shut off my pellet stove and contacted them about something being wrong I made 3 appointments with them and they were no shows and every time I called to advise of the situation I got a bunch of rude and disrespectful employees. Finally I had someone come in and inspect the chimney and paid for a cleaning a creosote treatment. After not even going through half a pallet worth of pellets I had a fire inside the pipes and had to call 911. When I called them back they told me several times they'd have a manager call me and they never did. I explained that to one of them employees I was talking to and let him know it's been a problem getting a manager to call me back and he told me I'm the one with the problem and got real loud and aggressive. So I met him with the same energy and he hung up and blocked my call. This company is garbage and the people they have working there are straight scum. read more

Shamrock chimney has called and emailed me so many times since I got my chimney cleaned. I told them if I wanted the work done I would call THEM. They have tried to contact me everyday for a week even though we have told them not to contact us anymore! Their cleaners were nice but whoever handled the appointment hung up on my husband when he asked her to stop calling. I had Evan from Shamrock come for a cleaning which turned into a repair/update to very old furnace piping and broken damper up top. I had significant creosote buildup as well, confirmed visually by myself. Previous owner of this house did no chimney maintenance. I was prepared for additional work that would be required. Despite conflicting reviews on this website and others, I was very pleased with the work and consider the price competitive. Evan performed a thorough job, and completely cleaned up everything after himself. He walked me through everything he was doing, and gave me multiple options on levels of work to be performed and we agreed on a solution for new cap, damper, top plate/pipe, and he setup a new damper chain/hook in the fireplace. I strongly believe that most people only sign on to leave negative reviews, well here is a good one. 48 hours after I called, everything was complete and billed. Evan did a great job cleaning up (including the firebox, furnace room, yard, etc) and was very polite. read more

Terrible customer service!!! Had an appointment scheduled. I called in the morning to confirm a time frame. I was told between 10am and 1pm. I called at 1:15 to find out a better estimate "the owner" said we know we have you an estimated time between 12pm and 1pm, I then corrected him saying you have me a 4 window and his response was if you stop going crazy he can get me a timeframe. They are not certified by the department of consumer protection in the state of CT. So what are they doing? Making folks very uncomfortable, leveraging lies, and flat out stealing posing as a licensed business. I will save my own sob story, there is enough of that here. PLEASE learn from my costly mistake: Consult CSIA - "chimney safety institute of America" or NCSG - "National chimney sweep guild" for certified reputable businesses. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! TOTAL COWBOYS.. We had them come and stucco/repair our chimney, its so messy they just slapped the stucco on and didnt smooth it out. The contractor did nothing but complain the whole time about how he wasn't physically able to do this sort of work, when I tried to speak to him about how I wasn't happy with the work being done, he kept complaining and talked about how he underquoted to job which was odd as I got 4 other quotes and they were all the same pricing. In the end his response was this is the best I can do. Oh and he also hussled an extra $200 on the side that didnt go through the company to repair the seal on the chimney. I am not exaggerating when I say my 7yr old could of done a better job. He broke a plant and then hid the branch in his truck as I specifically said the garden was not to be damaged. I called the owner 3-4 times before they called me back, he berated me the entire call, me the client - literally yelling at me....and then asked me what my husband thought of the job as if a women didn't understand what a smooth surfaced and primed chimney looked like!!!! I paid them in full as I wanted to do the right thing - BIG mistake, and I will never do that again. I wanted to go for a smaller business not one of the big cats, support the little guy - bad decision Like I said totally unprofessional cowboys, stay as far away as you can. I took them 3 months of me calling them every few days to resolve the mess they made and they sent a check for $500 - that wont even cover the paint that they suggested would fix things, like the saying goes lipstick on a pig. Nothing this company says happens. Original "professional" came to our home in February wrote an estimate to alleviate leaking of chimney into our basement. Purported that our bluestone cap was ineffective and that our home heating provider had installed the wrong cap on their side of the chimney. Came two days later to complete $2700 worth of work which included knocking out our damper from the fireplace in our home, throwing our bluestone cap to the ground and installing metal caps and cementing in place as best they knew how, apparently, and installing a wire from the cap to our fireplace to use as a damper. Employee left equipment on our deck, oh how I wish I had not called him to return for it. The wire was installed so that the cap could not be closed, water continued to run in to our basement. Second employee returned after 4 calls and 2 missed appts. Reset the wire and said we were good to go. Water continued to run into our basement. Employee from second visit returned and found that our clay inserts at the top were cracked and leaking and that the cement at the top of our cap needed to be replaced as well, provided me with a $1400 estimate. When I explained that his co-worker did that damage and placed all and any cement on the top of our chimney and I was not paying them to fix their work, he left my home to place a call, returned, and said he would be out to fix it at no charge. That was in April. May came and I called asking why I had no follow-up, 3 more appts were set, with 3 no-calls, no-shows and a snotty customer service representative telling me emergencies happen. No Sh** Sherlock, (her name is not Sherlock) but apparently the water in my basement for 5 months was less important than the homeowner without heat in June. I requested a refund and was told by a manager that I had to allow them to fix their work. Ha, ha, ha, ha, if only they would show up to do just that! I am now waiting to file a Better Business complaint and a small claims lawsuit for next week May 20, when they no-call, no show for the 11th time. I wish I had checked Yelp before agreeing to their work will NEVER use Angi's list again. Live and learn. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Shamrock chimney is lipstick on a pig. Met with them to discuss our chimney on the purchase of our first home. Deceivingly told us they would be able to fix and repair all that was needed for a pretty penny. Fast forward about 10 months, our chimney face was met with water and our ceiling has water marks. We paid for guarantees on the work performed so when calling it seems they would fit us right in. Scheduled a time and they no showed. I called and they said they didnt come when it was raining. I understood and wanted to reschedule. I rescheduled again and they no showed, no rain this time. Again this was urgent regardless due to water potentially coming inside our home from the chimney when it did rain. I called and tried to have them come the next day. They were unaccomodating, passive on the phone and said they would call back with open times to come. They never came. I feel taken advantage of and truly scammed as we spent time and money on a botched job with terrible customer service or service at all. I called multiple times after 12:00 and finally someone said they are tied up and will come first thing tomorrow at 9:00. Annoying, but ok. I'm 66 years old and a career professional with a large financial institution relating to customer satisfaction.  Last week I made an appointment with Shamrock for an estimate on my chimney on the Cape for today between 11-2.  I received a  last minute call just before 11 from a Chris that they are tied up all day. How about tomorrow? I drove from 114 miles to be here.  I decided to call the main number to express my frustration. The first words out this clueless guy's mouth were "sir, I have all I can do to keep from laughing at you"  and then "we are a company like many other companies in the world. This is just an estimate". Well....laugh at this sir!!!  You deserve less than a 1 rating and have no idea on how  to interact with customers. Terrible customer service. I had an appointment for them to come over and provide a quote for some chimney repair. The appointment was on a Wednesday from 10:00 - 1:00. I took time off from work and no one showed up and no one called until two hours after the time window had ended. The woman who called apologized and asked if I could be home on Friday. If so, she could give me a smaller time window, 10:00 - 12:00. So I took time off from work again, and once again, no one showed up and no one called. At 12:30 I texted her and told her not to bother sending them over because I wouldn't trust them to show up to do the work. I gave the work to Certified Chimney Inspections for $3200. I don't know how they can stay in business treating customers and prospective customers the way they do. read more

They scheduled a chimney cleaning with us and the day of the cleaning they called to reschedule to the following week well the following week comes and that day we have to call them to find out where they are....they were saying they were running an hour behind .. like really? they finally show up tell us we don't need a chimney cleaning ....so we tell them we do it's been two years since the last cleaning of our chimney . they go in and do such a quick crappy job that there is still black soot when we go and brush our chimney after they leave! We called them and they were supposed to get back to us after they investigate they never did. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I would give them zero stars if Yelp allowed it. We made an appointment for Shamrock to clean two chimneys for us: one a standard a fireplace, the other from an oil burner, after our former chimney man retired. Shamrock cancelled twice--supposedly due to weather--then showed up to clean the chimneys today (even though it is raining). The servicemen looked at the chimneys, then told us that they had not packed the correct cleaning brushes, even though I had described both chimneys and their use in great detail to Chris--their dispatcher. The servicemen did not give me the number for the Shamrock office until I insisted that they give it to me. They also kept removing their masks while in the house, until I asked them to cover up. I then asked them to wait while I spoke to Chris. They instead drove away without letting us know. Chris told me that he would not clean the chimneys for the quoted amount and claimed that special chemicals would be needed due to "excess" usage (we use the fireplace 3-4 nights a week for 4 months a year). I find this unbelievable, since we have had the chimneys cleaned annually with no problem for years. When I told him that the servicemen had told me only that brushes would be needed, he said it did not matter; he would not clean the chimneys for the quoted amount. He kept saying he would have to increase the cost for the unspecified "chemicals", which he would not describe further. He also was rude and defensive. So, to summarize, Shamrock cancelled twice, sent out unprepared servicemen, then an attempted upsale and holdup on the cost when I called to discuss the failure. I am totally unsatisfied and suspect that there was some dishonesty since we have standard chimneys that no chimney sweep has had issues with before. AVOID SHAMROCK. read more
