We had scheduled to do an annual chimney clean, and as it turned out, we needed a liner. This didn't come as a surprise to me because I could smell the creosote throughout the house. The technician was incredibly knowledgeable, and even though he came on a Saturday at 3:30 PM he told me he could have the job done Sunday morning at 9 AM. Just as he said, they arrived Sunday morning and put the liner in. He told me the smell would go away, which I was very dubious about. However, he was correct. My home does not smell like creosote anymore. I saw this company had a lot of negative reviews and I just want you to know that they did right by me. Not everybody has a bad experience. I was given a fair price for something that was absolutely necessary. I would definitely recommend them. read more

I didnt even get to use my fireplace in the winter because it took so long to get resolve. I was told by the installer there was no charge for this piece, it was fr the inconvenience.. TERRIBLE service. Had an appointment for 3-5pm. Office says the tech will call when they are 30 minutes away. Almost 5pm... tech never calls. We call office and they say tech will call. Tech tries to get us to reschedule for the next day because he said he can't get there until 7. We say we'll wait til 7. Still nothing at 7:30. We call him- voicemail. He calls back and says he got rear ended but he'll still come he just doesn't know when the police will get there. Waited 5 hours just waiting. Will not be asking to reschedule. Also just a side note... I had gotten their information from a festival. You got to spin a wheel for a possible free chimney cleaning. I landed on the free chimney cleaning and the owner said he would be willing to split the discount so it would still cost me something. It was a good deal so I didn't mind... now I know why it was a good deal. read more

We were contacted by Island Chimney to clean our gas fireplace. They came when they said, but gave us very bad advice. They charged us $99, and were here for less than 15 minutes. The technician told us all we needed was to vacuum out the dust, no need to remove the glass enclosure or clean the logs. When we questioned him, he insisted that the service before who did those things took advantage of us. Now our fireplace is not working. When we called another company who specializes in gas fireplaces they told us that the advice we received from Island Chimney was incorrect. They may be good at chimney cleaning, but I would NEVER recommend them for gas fireplace cleaning. read more

If I could there would be NO stars. This company is incompetent. They were hired to clean my chimney. They said they did it But they didn't do it. They lied. They said I needed a new cap which they put on the wrong chimney. After their visit my fireplace had problems that didn't exist before they came. They were paid $500 and wouldn't refund my money. I found them to be friendly and priced fairly. Explained what they would do, and found and fixed some problems that I was not aware of. They were able to make an appointment in just a few days. I would have liked to give a better review. I hired them to fix some brickwork on my chimney. They fixed it, but their work was sloppy. You can clearly tell what was original work (perfect), and what was repaired (meh). Their work was OK, but I was hoping for better. I would not hire them again. read more

The crew showed up to clean my chimney.. they were late but only 20-30 minutes or so. The employee was pleasant. The upsetting part was the entire cleaning took 6-8 minutes which includes going up and down the ladder, taking pictures and wet/dry vac in the chimney cleaning door. I was dissapointed as the worker did not raven have an attachment on the vacuum to get up and into the chimney. He then left the door to the chimney open while showing me all the things I needed. Dissapointed as at least some effort should be shown especially if I'm standing there watching! I wouldn't recommend. They gave me a follow up call in which they were polite and asked if I was ready to proceed with the proposed repairs... when I explained why I wouldn't the woman was receptive but responded well they did. What they are suppose to do... next time I will dry vac the cleanout myself. read more

We used them to have some repairs done on our chimney. Their prices were great and the job they did was fabulous. Mike was awesome and very detail oriented. Then we had some work done in our house and used them for that as well. Once again the price was great. And they did another great job!! BEWARE - I met Marc at a local fair and we agreed on a price for a cleaning. It took 2 months for the crew to finally show up after repeatedly missing appointments. When they arrived they would NOT honor the price agreed to. Don't trust anything Marc says. According to Mike, the technician, he is just a "carnival barker". read more

I met Mark at a trade show and when I explained that I need to do a chimney pointing he took my number down and kept on calling me for months until finally I decided to do the work. A contractor working for him came to my house and gave an estimate promising me that they will take care of the work properly. They scheduled a day and came to do the work at first they seems to be doing a good job but towards the evening when it seems like they could not finish the work they started doing a patch work and even before the work was properly completed they were trying to run away... then when I noticed the work was not properly done I started pointing the problems with it and then they tried patching things up but did not complete the job and when I started pointing other issues with the job the contractor said cannot do more for the price agreed and simply went away. Subsequently I had to replace the chimney caps and the contractor who came to do that noticed the issues with the job done and pointed out the cracks in the cement and how a bad job was done by them. The crown was not properly completed and instead crown seal was applied the roof area had patches of cement and was not cleaned properly. Then I called Mark and complained the problem he promised to send people to inspect this, then he called and again re-scheduled it but people did not come to check again. Then they called and said they will come again on another day which they did and instead of inspecting the problem the person who came to check the work started shouting that they will not do anything more and that is all what they will do and the waterproofing was done by them (which they did not) and went away.... overall it was a very bad experience with them... Mark speak very nicely on the phone but his workers are not professional at all and the work they did is very sub-standard based on my experience. read more

I met Marc at a local festival, where he had a vendor spot. He and his employees claimed there was Mildew(!) in our chimney pipe, and claimed the previous installer scammed us. They also said our fireplace chimney was getting out of line, and needed a flue liner. They also put in a chimney cap, which was our original reason for contacting him. We went along with both, but then, we were unable to use the fireplace without smoke BILLOWING into the room! On the phone, Marc explained that the new fireplace liner reduced the effective size the chimney, and it would need more work. For "a few" dollars more, they put a "turbine" on top of the chimney. Though it was "bad" to leave the chimney open when we needed a cap, now it's "OK" to leave the same chimney open with the turbine in place. Reasonably satisfactory chimney service a year ago, followed by relentless telemarketer style phone solicitations has prompted me to 'award' Island Chimneys one star. When I finally was able to speak to office "staff" and complained about the barrage of phone calls at all hours of the day and night I was disconnected. Naively not believing the disconnect was deliberate, I called back. This time the woman who answered made a "comment" and hung up! Customer service? Ha! I will be emailing and texting all of my contacts to avoid this company. You should too! read more

I met Marc at a patchogue fair in late summer he handed me his card with a $20 discount, I told him I lived out east and was told by him he serviced my area. A month later I called and he answered the phone , he told me he couldn't honor the coupon and price but I made an appointment anyway . The day .He was scheduled to be their I received a call saying he couldn't make it because he was running late. I rescheduled with him for 9 days later and again received a call saying his van wasn't working. The final time another week later I was told he wasn't coming due to rain. My opinion is that he didn't want to drive out east until he had other business there. I wish he would have told me instead of wasting my time. read more

I made an appointment a week prior & the day of they called & stated they were going to have to re-schedule. They left a lengthy voicemail due to the fact the guy forgot to end the voicemail. I then could hear him & his co-workers talking in the background for 2 minutes talking badly about another customer. I called back & left a message. Later that night I got another voicemail stating that they were going to have to reschedule my appointment because I did not answer my phone. Yet, they said earlier they already had to reschedule so all of a sudden it was my fault? Extremely unprofessional company. read more

I had scheduled an appointment for a chimney cleaning and an estimate for dryer vent cleaning on a Saturday (as most people living on LI, I work full time Mom-Fri). I was told I would receive a call between 11-2pm and the tech would call 30 minutes before arrival. It was 1:45 (and still haven't received a call), I called the company and left a message on a machine. At 2:10 I received a call from the tech- he made the excuse that one of their vans was down and the boss schedules 14 jobs and he is the only one working. That is not my fault! He offered to come after 6pm- I have already been a prisoner in my own home for the past 3 hours... now I have to wait another 4 hours, no way! Plus the fact, I'm going to let the guy on my roof in the dark?!?! I don't want that liability! I suggest you don't waste your time.... literally. read more

Thieves!!!! Beware, I hired these guys to repatch my roof. They did a sloppy job and took over a month with the job still not being completed. They billed me to change my gutters as well as replace my shingles and completely disregarded the request. Mike who was handleing this job is irresponsible and a nusence to deal with. He bullied me into giving him all the money upfront and left me completely stranded. Now he won't return my calls as he blocked my number. Mike blamed his boss for everything. Excuses that were given throughout this aggravating process (I was robbed at gun point, my transmition blew, going to the hospital for surgery) Everyday it was something else. Bottom line I'm left without a complete job screwed out my money. I have hired an attorney and will be suing both Mike as an idividual and this so called company. Big lesson learnt here. Their license should be removed and they shouldn't be aloud to take advantage of anyone ANYMORE. Even the one poor guy Mike hired to do the job quit after dealing with these sharks read more
