The only reason I brought them in was to clean and make sure it was working properly. I've been told by others who have since tried to help us get it working that we probably need to remove the fan that they convinced us we needed. And charged us so much for. Even if the fan did work (which it doesn't - smoke billows into the living room -- NEVER did that before Ace came) the fan sounds like an engine on an airplane, which takes away any chance of enjoying a fire. I should have written this ages ago, but I was hoping we would figure out a way to make it work. If you have an older house, PLEASE find a company that knows what they are doing. He also gave us a great recommendation for a plumber to run the gas pipe (JLM aid Bayshore). Kevin was so accommodating and we'll coordinated, we were able to get everything installed in one day (plumbing, burner install and log set up). Matt, the installer, was excellent! He installed the burner, set up the logs and embers and provided us with detailed instructions for running and maintaining the new fireplace.
