My pellet stove just died! I was really hoping it could be fixed. So I called Dunrite and the receptionist, who was very nice, quickly set me up for a check up of my equipment (it's $150 just for coming and doing basic maintenance). Two gentlemen came and worked on my equipment (they really tried to bring it back to life but the thing was just too far gone). They ordered the part, we set up a new date to install it, so that by a week later they were right back to finish the job and install the part (a blower). When they came back, within an hour... not only was it working again, I had my buns pressed right against that grill warming them up against this everlasting cold in NYS! LOL I have nothing but praise for my experience with them. I will be using them in the future for maintenance of my equipment. I recommend them. read more

Jason showed up within the time frame given. Explained scope of work. Also complimented the work that was performed by another company. Which is very rare. Suggested to check the boiler chimney and cleaned that one also. Removed the damper which most other never do. Cleaned up and was done within an hour. Terrible! Came to our home for an estimate but never got the estimate back, went to the store they didn't have our paperwork on file and when we asked about stoves she just pointed to the general area without further assistance and didn't even get up out of her chair. No one ever once followed up. If they couldn't make an effort with estimates and customer service I would be wary of what kind of work they do in a home. read more

In today's world, it is so hard to find a service that is honest, reliable and affordable. Half the time you can't even get somebody to show up for an estimate. Dunrite came, gave me an estimate and did the job the following day. I found the men to be clean, respectful and knowledgeable. I can't say enough great things. After my previous 20 year old Vermont Castings Radiance propane burning stove died,I decided to get another. After waiting 2 months, I discovered that the company I ordered from took off with my deposit. What a shock to me! So that led me to doing better homework before purchasing again. I decided on Dunrite, being very impressed with Ellen in the office, and Peter the owner. Not only did they rush installation now that we were in late Dec. and my huge unheated part of the house was getting mighty cold, but they also helped me with a rep from Vermont Castings. They, plus complaints to BBB and NY Consumer Affairs department being opened, seemed to do the trick. $3500 deposit refunded. I have had my new stove for over a month now. Love it! Besides a problem free, neat installation, I also appreciate how Dunrite also came to my assistance when they really didn't have to. Good company to deal with. Seven hours wasted and nothing accomplished. I called because the damper chain bracket came off the wall of fireplace. I wanted reattached. The woman who answered the phone said she would send someone who could do that. I got an appointment for Saturday between 12 and 5. At 5:20 no one had yet shown. I called. The same woman said he was on his way but about 20 minutes away. When a truck arrived the "technician" said the guy who was scheduled got hung up on another job. I showed him the problem with the fireplace. He looked at the loose bracket and said "the mollies came out." He had nothing he could use to fix it. I waited 5 1/2 hours for that. Then he told me I should replace my whole damper system because the one I had was old. The reason I called was because I had cold air coming in since I couldn't fasten the damper chain to the fallen bracket. The techs replace the entire damper system. The price before tax was $369. He tells me He won't charge tax if I pay cash. I said I would need a receipt with details and warrantee info. He goes out to the truck for an invoice and comes in empty handed. He ran out of invoices. I start becoming concerned. We close up the fireplace doors and he leaves. I go over to check the fireplace doors and the cold air is coming in in the same spot. I went outside and asked the tech to come back in to see the problem. He gets out a lighter and checks for airflow. I could easily feel it with my hand. He looked around and then said the cold air is coming in because there is mortar missing. He never mentioned that earlier. I called the store number and the rep listens intently and then tells me the tech couldn't replace the bracket only because it only comes with the kit (the $369. Plus tac new damper). So she lied (or didn't listen to my situation as explained in my original call). I just wanted the old bracket reinstalled. The rep on the phone says they could return it to the original state. I accept. At about 7:40 they leave. That's a waste of my Saturday and no solution to my problem. The tech was very nice. The lady in the office apparently thought she was being accommodating but had never listened to what I needed and ignored the truth when I reminded her of the information I gave when I made my call. She sent someone to sell me something I didn't need. Bad business. read more

The people at Dunrite Chimney & Stove are great. They really know all about stoves and installation, and they're work is so neat and extra care is given to every little detail. I strongly recommend them to anyone who is in the market and looking for alternative heating for their home. I'm also considering them for my next project " an outside kitchen with fireplace." DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE! contemplating filing a law suit against them currently. I was lied to time after time by the owner petes wife, she made me lose out on two full day's pay lying to me telling me they were coming to install the stove and chimney I had purchased from them. They did not show up. Finally after multiple lies and broken promises they showed up and installed my stove flue incorrectly to the point where I have a constant back draft and my house fills with smoke and sets the alarm off every time I try to start a fire. On top of all that I sketched an exact diagram of the house dimensions and requested for them to size the wood burning stove appropriately for the square area of the house. They charged me 6000.00 dollars for a stove that is way undersized for the house. Again peters wife did not care in the least about the sizing or any of the information I had provided, only cared about the sale and the MONEY! Even their employees had foul things to say about them. USE THE FIREPLACE FACTORY!!!! In Bohemia! I cannot say enough bad about them they do not deserve the one star, what can I do about the 6000.00 they basically stole from me?!?! This is the worst establishment I have ever dealt with in my life. If you want to be lied to, manipulated, and have your hard earned money basically stolen from you call Dunrite. read more
