They were supposed to be here between 9 and 11 this morning to service the chimney. Got a call around 11 from that number but caller said "Oh, I called the wrong customer" and hung up. 11 came and went, no one showed up. Got irritated and called them around 2PM. Rep said they "called this morning and no one answered; the van broke down" and offered more time slots tomorrow or the next day. Not the first time this has happened. Their vehicles seem to always be breaking down, sometimes they notify you. Not impressed. We're busy people, we have jobs and can't be sitting around on weekdays waiting for service dependent on company vehicles that aren't reliable. read more

On November 2, 2013, they came to service our chimney because everytime we lit the fireplace smoke would come into our house. They charged me for their service and the problem still continued. Apparently, they did a single oil sweep and put in 6 inch lever in for efficiency. I called another chimney service and guess what they found? The problem. There was a nest in the chimney. Now this tells me that they didn't even do any work on my chimey AND that they robbed me of time and money. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this company! read more

I called them to replace the flue cover, collar and weather shield that blew off after twenty years. The cost was $1000.00 plus a 10% senior discount. Installation took place around January 29th, 2015 and every piece they installed blew off approx. in Sept 2019. I did not notice the metal on the ground until I started to clean up the debris. I have been calling since Monday and have not received a response yet. Since, I live in a wooded area with very tall trees, I'm afraid to leave the chimney uncovered. I do NOT recommend this company. Advanced Chimney gets no stars! I had made an appointment with Advanced Chimney on September 13th at 2:30. They called to cancel and tell me they needed to reschedule for the next day, Saturday for the hours of 11-1, which I said was fine. However, someone actually ends up showing up on Friday 13th around 11:00 but I wasn't home because not only was this NOT the scheduled appointment time, but they were never supposed to come on Friday because they "canceled." So I took off of work to be prepared for them to come Saturday and again, they cancel. I had four phone calls from four different people apologizing to me about the confusion. They rescheduled again for today (9/21) giving me a window time of 11-1. Today comes, and they called again to tell me that they are not able to come between 11-1, but now have to come between the hours of 2-4. EVERY company does that.it's like going to a nail salon and them saying you need a pedicure when you were there for a fill in. I was very unsatisfied with this company. I bought an older house and knew my chimney needed a cleaning and a new flue which was rusted and stuck open in December (holy draft). They came and ordered a part, I paid for the part and then didn't hear from them for a week or so. After I followed up, they kept putting it off, were waiting for the part etc etc etc. Finally I have an appointment for them to come install, someone else than the original worker who did the estimate comes and says the previous worker ordered the wrong part and was actually fired and all of these crazy things! Continues to talk to me about how bad this worker was etc, very unprofessional. Then he talks me into a new chimney cap, and a different flue has to be ordered. More money. Says I need it of course. After 2 months total, all of the work is finally done, I'm out a bit of money and when I mentioned it to my contractor, he told me he had been on my roof, seen my chimney cap and it had been recently replaced! So after months of having a draft in the winter, wasting money on heat, and waiting for this company, they really took advantage of a single woman and ripped me off. Also said they promised they would fix a small crack in the bottom of my fireplace when they replaced the flue but they didn't. I'm torn because I was really impressed during my consultation and on installation day, the guy here was very friendly, took the time to explain everything, and told me honestly what needed to be done and what didn't. .... Fast forward to the chain on my flue breaking the 2nd time we ever tried to open it for a fire and I have now been waiting over a month for someone to come repair it. I've now been rescheduled 4 times and they call either the night before or the day of to let me know. Completely unprofessional and no regard for the fact that their customers have lives and can't just keep leaving their day open only to be cancelled on on such short notice. Short story: unprofessional workers, deceptive offer, bad job, customer "lip" service only. Longer story: In May 2015 (yes, waited 3 years and no resolution), I had an appointment for a chimney cleaning. The Cleaner showed up, looked at the chimney and said the chimney did not need a cleaning and left. I rescheduled since it hadn't been cleaned in 8 years. That appointment was not held and my appointment was rescheduled. The Cleaner came with an inexperienced young man who removed a huge furnace duct which should never had been touched. The Cleaner, was upset, and rightly so, but he displayed anger like I've never seen in a serviceman. He yelled at the young man and his yelling continued outside as he went to get equipment from his truck. He was so loud and angry that two different neighbors phoned me to see if I was OK. He proceeded to the fireplace, hastily pulled out the Heatilator and, in the process, scratched the slate platform in front of the fireplace. When I booked the cleaning, I said I had a coupon for $59.99. No one had asked if I had a Heatilator. The Cleaner said I owed him $89.99 instead. I paid it. I was just happy it was over. I didn't complain to Advanced Chimney out of fear until.... ....they called me a year later, saying I was due for another cleaning. I said I wouldn't use them again and told my story. I got a sympathetic ear and the promise for a follow-up and that's where it ended. Long story short, this scenario repeated every year with no follow-up EXCEPT this year. The new head of customer service was anxious to please and promised to resolve the situation. He seemed so sincere. He said he would send the slate guy to see if the scratches could be repaired and if not, the slate would be replaced. Over a 6 month period, he could not find an opportunity for the slate guy to come. I've heard every excuse such as "storms have us very busy right now", "the Slate Guy cut his hand on a job", even the customer service guy himself "was in a car accident and in the hospital". The technique then changed to giving me two dates. For example, Customer Service Guy will call this Monday as to whether Slate Guy could come on Thursday. Monday would go by with no call. I'd call Tuesday only to be told Thursday no good. After several of these scenarios, I have given up. I don't like to give a bad review and have only ever given one other but after 3 years of waiting to resolve my complaint, it is called for. read more

Advance Chimney cleaned my chimney April 2018 and it appeared to be a decent job, hard to tell. Started my first fire of the year at the end of November and as the fire got going I heard a clunk. The top section of the chimney brush they used dropped down from the chimney. Unbelievable. I pulled on it while the fire was going but could only get part of it out. Then I had to stop the fire, let everything cool (1 hour), remove the damper and pull out the rest of the brush which was bent from melting. Called the website number and spoke to Mike who said he was the owner. It was Friday, November 23, and he stated a service person would be over the next day or first thing Monday and the chimney would be checked and a free cleaning would be done. Called Tuesday and spoke to a person who answered "service", think it was Mike. Told him the situation which he knew about and said he would call me right back. Well it's a week later and nobody from Advanced has contacted me and I'm writing a review. No stars would be appropriate. You decide. read more

Basically, I used this company to install a liner, but the t used to connect to the boiler and flue was all the same diameter. When I had my annual tune up there was a back draft coming down the chimney on my hot water heater( the match test). I called him back and explained and he refused to install a T going 3 inches into 4 inches to prevent the back draft. $160 later I had the company who tunes up my boiler install it to provide safety in my home. I hired Advanced Chimney to install a new chimney liner in 2012. When I called them to clean the chimney a few years later, the technician told me that the liner was installed incorrectly and that the work was guaranteed so that they would come back to correct it without issue. I had to call every day for a week just to finally get an appointment to get it fixed, since no one was returning my calls. They cancelled on me the day before and we had to reschedule for the following week. I confirmed again over the phone the morning before the new appointment and they STILL had the audacity to cancel that evening. I'm still waiting for it to be repaired. I also added waterproofing. I found out the prices they charged were inflated. The work was acceptable on the re-pointing. Don't understand the bad reviews here! My two sentences to describe Pauli of Advanced Chimney: Pauli's is Absolutely the Best There is! He was a godsend and savior for some issues I had with my house that day! Now the long version: On the day of snowstorm in March 2017, I saw a leak thru the fire place chimney and active snowflakes during the snow storm. I went thru Homeadvisor.com and called a few companies for evaluation and capping the chimney. Of the 3 companies, Advance Chimney gave me the appointment for the time of the day I desired. The service man Pauli (Paul Newman) called ahead and provided an ETA and showed up for the appointment as scheduled. He looked at the fireplace, went up the roof, and went to the cellar to see the furnace and made a complete assessment of what needed to be done. He also made sure with me that the fire places will remain inactive/closed. The chimney needed a liner down to the level of furnace in the cellar (thru the stone wall) and a new cap top the top; we also had old vents that needed to be capped. He included also hooking the pipes in the cellar and cement back around the pipe. I was a little scared with a long list of items proposed and checked the home inspection report which also confirmed that I need to address all those items that Paulie outlined in the proposal. He also offered to haul away several old satellite dishes as part of the estimate and was ready to do the job. Paulie's passion for and knowledge of his work came across clearly during my discussion with him and I agreed for the work to be completed. Paulie and his helper Anthony went to work right away while I was on the phone canceling other later appointments! They took several hours to complete the job and cleaned up after. He took several pics before and after. While Pauli was about to leave, we realized that the heater stopped working because the pilot light went off and he made sure that the heater is working again. He took time to show me how to light-up the pilot light. I was totally satisfied with Pauli's work. His price was reasonable and most of all, PAULIE REALLY KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. HE GOES THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CUSTOMER IS HAPPY. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM HIGHLY. Ask for him by his name, when you call Advanced Chimney. While he was about to leave again, we found a leak in the bathroom in the back of the house. Because it was end of day, I asked Paulie if he can help. He and his assistant went to work right away to check the roof extension over the bathroom/laundry room and shoveled away the snow, ice, and ton(s) of water and chiseled away the frozen ice in some parts of the gutters. I was so relieved when the leak stopped. (Imagine finding somebody on a Friday night or the weekend and what they might charge for an emergency.) He accepted what I gave him for this extra work to correct the leak. Some other parts of the gutter remain frozen which have to wait for the temp to warm up. I scheduled that work with Paulie again for 2 weeks later. You can now understand the way I described Pauli's work in my introduction! Thank you Pauli. read more

I just bought my first home and needed cleaning and inspection. I was referred to Advanced Chimney by a friend who uses them every winter. When I called to make an appointment, a young woman answered the phone and was very knowledgeable about my situation. Since I am new to this process, I asked her about about a billion questions. Not only did she answer every one of my questions, she set me up for an appointment as soon as possible. I work a very odd schedule and they were more than accommodating. The service technicians came on time and were very professional. As one of the other reviews stated, they came with all of their credentials so I felt confident in their skills. I know everyone has other reviews about the aggressive calling and marketing tactics, so I told the manager to only call me during the December months. She promised to put me on the list for only December. So if you don't want them calling you often, just tell them! Will definitely recommend. read more

Missed 3 appointments. Neighbor recommended Advanced Chimney. 11/13 made appointment to clean chimney for 11/24 between 10 and 2. About noon they called and said they were running late and could be there between 3 and 5 or could reschedule. I had evening plans and opted to reschedule. The next mutually agreeable date was 12/8 between 9 and 12. At 11:45 they called to say they were running late and would be there between 12 and 3. I reluctantly agreed, reminded them this was the second time they were delayed, and I wasn't happy. At 3:15 I called to see where they were. They didn't know when they'd be done with the current job and wanted to reschedule. I decline to give them a third chance. The woman I spoke with kept trying to convince me to reschedule. She called back a second time and offered to send someone between 4 and 6:30. I declined because 1. I had evening plans. 2. I had no reason to believe anyone would show at the appointed time. 3. You can't get on the roof and clean the chimney in the dark. When I wasn't persuaded to rescheduled, she hung on me. read more

We had a reasonably good experience with them, although it started out poorly. We started with an inspection that they charged us for. We were told we had problems with our old chimney that required a new liner. We were told that if we did that ($2800), both our heating unit and our two fireplaces would be working fine, guaranteed. We had them perform that work. But then found that the two fireplaces still were smoking the house. They sent a second, and different team back in, who now reported that we needed yet another liner for the fireplaces to work properly (despite the fact that we had been assured that the initial $2800 price would fix all three problems.) Recognizing that mistakes can get made, particularly with older chimneys with 3 separate vents, we agreed to pay an additional $1800 for them to install a second liner, with the understanding that even with that, only one of the two fireplaces could be used, which we agreed to. We very much liked the team that installed that second liner, and felt they were very professional. However, even having done that, we found there was still smoke coming out of the non-used fireplace. The company was very patient and understanding, and immediately sent the team back to find out why that was occurring. For no additional charge they fixed that additional leak. It now appears to be working fine. My recommendation is to work with Frank, their Sales Manager. I found that he really tried to do the right thing, and while we gave him leeway on his first assurance, we felt it was an honest error. And in our view, he went out of his way, to fix the shortcomings of their results, and made us satisfied customers. read more

I was recommended this local company by a friend who had used them multiple times in the past. I called to possibly set up an appointment and inquire about pricing for a simple chimney/fireplace/oil burner cleaning and was met with a courteous woman on the phone who quoted me a fantastic price and was able to fit me in to the schedule in a relatively quick amount of time. On the day of the scheduled appointment, two employees from Advanced Chimney arrived closer to the the 1 o'clock hour in the 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. time frame I was given (always a plus!). They were both extremely professional and friendly. And, best of all, they did a top notch job that was done in about an hour's time. So, an unbeatable price for a necessary service done in a timely manner by true professionals. What more could you ask for?
