Overall it was fine. We were able to wash my dog with the provided supplies and resources which was our goal going in. There was 1 employee who was "helping" us that was wildly unattententive and rude. There were no directions posted for us to read anywhere and no verbal directions given from any employees, but they seemed frustrated we didn't know what to do! My dog is new to grooming and I very clearly communicated that at multiple points during our attempted nail trim, the nail trim wasn't important to us and I tried to stop them 2x before actual being listened to. It was very obvious the employee did not care about us or my dog, but just cutting her nails so I intervened. They didn't check on us a single time (We were the only people in there for 60% of our time). We had to ask the other employee for product we pre-paid to use during our service. If you just need to walk in, put your dog in the tub and wash then you'll probably be fine here! The lady doing grooming seemed nicer than the other employee. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable the whole time. That employee really ruined our experience with their unprofessional and rude behavior so we will not be returning.

The perfect destination for two little boys (one Havenese & one Shitzu) to get a shave & a shower! Easy on my back & less trauma for them. Everything we need is right there!

Brought my Husky in on a Sunday morning and had a great experience. The gal working didn't make me feel bad about annihilating the place with all the husky fluff during our self-wash and was helpful with the whole process. Many types of shampoo/conditioner in house along with brushes and ear cleaning supplies. Reasonable prices and $1 off if you pay in cash!

So happy to find this place! So much easier to bath than in the tub at home. Our pug loves it!

Dexter's first bath at Shampooch! Finishing up blow drying love our first experience, he did really good!

The place was clean everything was well organized and the staff were very helpful friendly. We will be returning for Dexter's next self grooming service

Shampooch, the do-it-yourself-dogwash place, is awesome! The tubs are nice and high, they have little poles to clip your dog's lead, the shower heads are easy to use, they have about 7 different soaps (including dirty dog & flea soap), strong doggie driers AND all sorts of brushes, clippers & shredders for use. Prices seem pretty great (I haven't priced this type of business before): a small dog is $10 to dogs over 100 lbs for about $20. You pay a couple bucks more for long hair. They will wash your dog also: again, really good prices, starting at $20 and going up, depending on the size of your dog & the condition of their coat. GIVEN FOUR STARS: I could give this place a five just for the facilities, and the staff really is great. BUT - I think it's important to know that one of the owners is not confident clipping nails. The taller woman with wavy hair is awesome and fast. The other woman took a long time, didn't trim very well (barely cut anything off) and her discomfort transferred to my dog, who started to get anxious. Don't get me wrong, it's cheap and overall they get a big A - but I'd hate anyone to go in & not have a heads up for potential trouble areas.

This place rocks. Easy to manage even a big dog with their setup. No need trashing your house and the dryers really work!

Linn owns two places side by side. The dogs have a dog run in the center of the house. They can spend all day running back and forth between the houses. This is a very secure area. Your dog(s) spend the night uncaged in the house. They find their own spot to rest. Linn is alway there looking after the pets. Her prices are very reasonable compared to other places. I was very impressed on my first visit. Everything is so clean and well maintained. If you don't believe me, call her up and set up an appointment to visit her place. She has the credentials to back her experience. She is a member of: PSI Certified Professional Pet Sitter and a Member of the National Association of Pet Sitters. My dogs are usually with me all the time and I am very hesitant to leave them anywhere without giving two hours worth of instructions. Yes, I'm THAT kind of pet parent. Anyways, I stopped by to check out Linn's place before I took my dogs there and it seemed like a great place and all the dogs seemed happy to be there. She showed me around all the areas that the dogs would be in and I liked that it was very much a home environment, instead of doggie daycares that seem very sterile and not like home. It really is like a little dog adventure land that they can explore the many yards and decks and different areas. After the first night I left my dogs there, I ended up staying longer than expected and having my dogs stay there on five different occasions, one that lasted 4 nights. Each time I felt more and more comfortable and really left my dogs knowing they were in good hands and when I dropped them off and picked them up they were happy -- not scared, anxious or hesitant at all. This is something, especially for my newest dog we rescued from an abusive home just four months ago and he is very timid around most people and new environments. There are also cameras you can check on your pets on, although I never downloaded the app or website. That's how comfortable I was, I didn't feel I needed to check on them. Although I appreciated the picture and video updates that Linn sent me! The price is quite reasonable, but don't forget to leave a little extra if you really appreciate the care your pets have gotten, because she works really hard for the little she charges. Especially with my dogs, I know they're a handful! She is also willing to work with you on pickup and drop-off times and she ensures you are the only person dropping off so it is easy for all involved. The extra gates also give peace of mind your dogs won't escape on accident or if they're looking for an adventure, as mine oftentimes do. Linn really has thought of everything here, and my dogs enjoy staying overnight and playing with all of the other dogs who come here. I just wish I could find a place like this in California, but I'll be back next time I'm in town and know that I can leave my dogs safely while I'm away.

Mel put as much love and care into creating the resort that she does into taking care of her pups! She kept in touch with us regularly, sharing pictures, and giving updates. We could tell he was having such a great time! Rates are also super reasonable for the VIP service our pup gets, with a discount for longer stays. Every time we've had an appointment here someone has had an attitude with us, be it the doctor or a front desk employee. We stopped going for a while because Covid happened and Petsmart gave us a standing refill for our food. Petsmart after 4 years needed an updated prescription so we had to go back to a vet but money is tight and Commencement Bay was completely unwilling to help. When I called, the woman I spoke to was incredibly condescending the entire time. She judged us for not bringing him in without knowing circumstances, she rudely questioned how we were getting food and if we'd seen another vet (can't do that without the new vet getting my cats old records anyway), and they've also refused to change our cats name in the system from his previous name to his current one. Also, the assistants have always been great and helpful but when my cat has needed shots (he hates shots) he didn't do anything to try and relieve stress for our cat and just got mad and frustrated when the assistants who tried did exactly what vets are supposed to do. Super loving and calm. All I wanted was a one time refill until we could get in so my cat doesn't starve since he can't eat anything else. The receptionist refused to help, didn't care or show the slightest empathy, and just overall was awful. We're switching to Uptown Veterinary Hosptial in Gig Harbor where my other cats go and despite Commenment Bay's refusal to communicate with them, they gave us a one time refill like a compassionate vet would. I would rather pay a toll any day for kindness and compassion than have a quick drive to an unpleasant and unprofessional vet. I'm sure all these other great reviews are valid, but for some reason they've been less than great towards us. I don't know if it's because we're a gay couple or what but we're incredibly respectful and kind to them. We can't think of a single reason for the treatment we've received from them.
