First impression: clean but small space. Unfortunately I did not enjoy my experience here. The "all natural shampoo" seemed like a joke/scam. All see-through and completely watery & runny. Good price though - $30 for both my dogs (45lb long hair & 60lb short hair) the lady questioned me on my dogs fur being short...which I don't know how there was a question... Oh and DONT try and use the YELP $2 OFF WITH CHECK IN - she wasn't going to accept it because it didn't have a code...buy after what seemed like 10min she just gave it to me any way but kept making a big deal I didn't have a code to go along with the discount.. It's just on my phone I had a visa gift card for $25 and she told me "you better use that some place else, at some other store" ....ooh k. She claimed she is old and doesn't know how to work their card reader in that way. But she could have just said that they weren't capable of doing so. The way she said it, wasn't great customer service. I have a husky and those who know this breed know they can be quite vocal, the lady seemed to be getting somewhat frustrated with her... This place is amazing! The lady at the counter was very helpful. She showed me where everything was, set the water to the perfect temperature, and even described all their shampoos and products for me. The tubs are at just the right height, and they have steps leading up to them so your dog can walk right in! I can't believe how easy they make everything. Plus, every wash comes with 45 minutes on the grooming table, including blow drier and grooming tools! The only downside is that the parking is a little tricky, being right on 6th Ave. There are extra spots around back, which I'd highly recommend. Sue is awesome!! We've gotten my dogs nails clipped here many times. My dog doesn't do well with other dogs and she respects that and always makes sure other dogs are away from her. She even came outside one time to cut the nails. Now my dog is really old, blind, and diabetic so she can't go into the car to go down to Shampooch; sue made a house call this past week and we appreciated it so much! Just moved into town and went in to Shampooch for the first time to give my 80+ pound dog a wash. It was a great atmosphere and the owner was very kind and personable to both me and my dog. I'll definitely be coming back here for my dog's grooming needs. read more

It's nice, clean and the people are friendly. As the owner of 2 decent sized dogs though I wish their prices were lower. We live right around the corner from them but we'll have to take our dogs elsewhere for baths because combined it would be close to $50, which is just insane for a dog wash. read more

Our dog hates water so you can imagine what it's like to bathe her. They have tubs designed for dog washing, they provide the shampoo and have grooming tools you can use. Dryers sometimes don't get warm enough so it takes a bit longer to dry. This place is 100% worth the price which is charged by your dog's weight. (we pay $15 a wash) It will SAVE your bathroom at home, I PROMISE! We go every 2-3 weeks and will continue to do so. read more

Came back so that I can have my Pomerian groomed. It was great. I dropped him off at two and picked him up at four. Sue was able to brush out and snip off all his mats and still retain his fur. My crazy monkey looks great and is evenly groomed. I plan on coming again. The only thing I felt bad about was I wrote a check and forgot to tip once I wrote it and it was the only one I had on me-so I will double tip the next time I come in! read more

Stopped at Shampooch at 5:24pm tonight, the lights were off and doors locked. Both the website and sign on the door clearly state last wash by 5:30pm. We had to bring a very muddy dog back home. It was very disappointing. read more

This place is great - I love that I can go in, use all of their things from 6 different types of shampoo and conditioner, brushes, clippers, towels, make a mess that I don't have to clean up (and they'll even clip nails for $5!). The high tubs are easy on the back as well! read more

I have used this self serve dog wash 2-3 times a month since I moved to Tacoma 8 years ago (started when they were in their previous location next to Red Hot). But no more! Unfortunately it is because of one particular employee. Her treatment of me borders on harassment and I am not really sure why. It has happened several times and today was the last straw. Rather than hovering over my shoulder while I am trying to bathe my dog, her time would be better spent cleaning the hair out of the tubs. Today the drain was clogged with previous dogs' hair. The trashcan was filled with hair too. Not the first time I have experienced dirty tubs here. Yucky attitude and yucky tub. read more

We have been customers of this establishment since we moved to the area 4 months ago. We bring our dog every 2 weeks as it is the easiest dog washing place we have found, and the staff is usually friendly and accommodating. This review is not giving the business 1 Star, but the employee that was on duty. ( First time we have seen her since coming here). Halfway through our wash she informed us we needed to turn off the water if we weren't actually washing him off. We pay $20+ every two weeks, I don't need an employee telling me I'm basically wasting water. After that statement she proceeded to tell me since I was not rinsing I should be helping out scrubbing our dog. Checking out and paying was the real problem. I informed the employee we had checked in on Yelp, and we actually had the 2nd most check ins of all customers. She asked to see my phone as if she did not believe me, then said she had a problem and would not be able to offer me the advertised discount as she did not see a code. The sign outside on the street says "check in on Yelp and save $$$". This employee informed me that was a one time offer and it would not be applied on our trip. I will still recommend this place, but our experience with this particular employee was terrible. read more

A great business with super friendly staff and clients. I have taken my dog once a month for the last 3 years. Shampooch is always clean, towels are ready and the products available are great for my dog's sensitize skin. I really appreciate the prices and delicious treats at the end- and so does my dog! I never write reviews for Yelp but felt the need to write this after a couple visits here. The facility was great and clean. Prices are also great! However, the staff is not friendly or nice at all! I try smiling and speaking to them and they don't say a word to me. I feel like they would at least be friendly towards my pet! After all, that is what they do for a living. Just too bad people waste life being gloomy and miserable for a living. I would not leave my dog to be groomed by them. However, this place is convenient enough I may return. read more

Had only one experience here and it was OK. I wish I could say I loved it because I live in an apartment and washing my dogs at home is a pain. The younger gal who showed me the stuff to use was really nice and explained how it all worked, but the older woman working came over to tell me how to use their shampoo "conservatively" as I went to put on more. Uhm...excuse me? I'm sorry my boys hair is a little thick and this watered down shampoo isn't getting him all over. Obviously I know they are generous in putting full bottles out in the open, but I think I can judge how much shampoo my dog needs. Also I think that is the reason bigger dogs are charged a couple more dollars?? As I was finishing up, she tells me that next time I can put my dog on the table to brush and dry off. As she says this she waves her hand at the tub I was using because I'm assuming the water from my dog shaking off annoyed her. Well, it was not busy so when I first started they told me I could keep my dog in the tub to dry off. I wouldn't want to put my boys up on the table anyway because it pretty high up and my dogs are both getting a little older so I don't want them to attempt to jump off and hurt themselves. I didn't want to leave a bad review based on one employee with bad customer service. This place is great for self service with providing towels, dryer, shampoos, and brushes. I left one of my boys in the car and then switched them, but they have crates to hold if need be. read more

Awesome place- really laid back and my normally high strung dog is always relaxed here. I have an afghan and she takes forever to groom and I don't feel rushed. The bonding aspect of self service dog wash is huge and I appreciate being able to spend the quality time with her. read more

I love this place because of the environment and it's a very word of mouth place. I love that you get the $2 off when you check in which also motivates me to take my dogs there. HOWEVER I guess the mother of the owner was working and when we tried to use our $2 off check in coupon she told us "we shouldn't use it because they're cheap already and her daughter needs to make money" then she said "this will be your latest time using it". Uhm I get it, but you shouldn't have me check in and advertise that I'm here and then not give me the $2 off (that's the point of yelp).... Or if there is a limit them post that there is a limit to the coupon. I feel that was just a rude thing to say. I religiously take my dogs there and no I don't use the check in coupon everytime.... My dogs usually make a big fuss when getting a bath but it was super simple and didn't take long at all. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back! The New Shampooch is so awesome! The old one was great too, but now there is great Parking! I've been taking my dog to Shampooch for 9 years and have never had a bad experience. There are many options of shampoo for different skin/coat types and you can use as much as you would like. There are a ton of cleaning and grooming tools, all the towels you need and blowdryers. There are nice aprons to wear so you don't end up gettting a bath also. The people who work there are super helpful and friendly. Me and my Dog Sidney are happy after our visits to Shampooch! read more

This shop is so perfect! It's clean and bright with everything I need within reach! The prices are fantastic and the staff is so helpful. They take the time to help, answer questions, and make sure I've got everything I need to get my dogs beautiful. I read the previous reviews before going and they absolutely did not deter me from going. I certainly do not want to have another dogs fur flying into my face while trying to bathe my own. If your dogs are blowing their coats it's probably not a great time to publicly blow dry them. That being said I found this shop to be all I need and more.
