Go for the buffet!! Everything was delicious. I had no idea they had enchiladas, but they were really good and the salad bar is always fresh. The staff are very nice. We were helped by Neecia, she is so sweet! We were super thankful for the wonderful AC on this hot day. read more

Shakey's Pizza Parlor - Thankful for my favorite pizza! Try the enchiladas at the buffet, they are delicious! - Pizza Near Me - Escondido, California

The "Deals" save you a nickel Shakey's was my favorite pizza place growing up in Montana, so I was genuinely excited to discover there was one in Escondido. I went to the website and checked the "Deals" section. A large pepperoni pizza and a full order of Mojos were listed for $34.49. Then I went to "Build Your Own" and priced a large thin-crust pepperoni pizza with a full order of Mojos. Total: $34.54. That's right. The "deal" saves you five cents. A nickel. Apparently, in 2026, five cents now qualifies as a promotion. Either nobody bothered to compare the regular pricing before posting the "deal," or Shakey's genuinely believes customers should get excited about saving enough money to almost buy nothing. I was looking forward to revisiting a childhood favorite. Instead, I got a reminder that not every "deal" is actually a deal. read more

Shakey's Pizza Parlor - Your .05 savings! - Pizza Near Me - Escondido, California

Wow! Our first time here bc our 2 daughters received a free personal pizza from their school. The service was top notch! Elijah and Eric hooked us up and let us taste their mojos, which is their version of fried potato chips. And it's very good! Crispy and just a little bit thicker than chips. The pizza had a great doughy crust. The wings were crispy. And the salad bar had great options and was fresh. I was surprisingly delighted by this place. We will definitely be back. It's a laid back, diner type vibe. read more

I haven't been to a Shakeys in 50 years so when I saw this one I HAD to try it. I was not disappointed. The pizza, fried chicken and mojo potatoes tasted exactly as I remembered. The dining room was clean and the staff was very pleasant. My friend only eats white meat which is not served at lunch, however one of the servers offered to cook a breast just for her. The price for a lunch buffet was very good for all the options, and the ladies room was spotless! read more

Pizza was cold, mojo potatoes were cold, salad bar (lettuce) was empty and not fresh, spaghetti was watery, fried chicken was excellent and piping hot blue cheese dressing was good...not impressed and drove from Oceanside to check it out. Got there Saturday at 12:30 and was out before 1 pm not a very good lunch...maybe have to go on a weekday at 11am read more

This may have been my first visit to a Shakey's where I wasn't wearing a baseball uniform. I think the last time I went to Shakey's (not this location) was after a Little League game--one that I played in. That was [insert ridiculously large number here] years ago. There used to be Shakey's locations everywhere. If you played sports as a kid way back when, your team went to Shakey's to celebrate a win. Or you drowned your sorrows in pitchers of Coke or Root Beer after a loss. The location in Escondido is massive. The main dining room is humongous and they even have a nice video game room. The pizza is about on par with Pizza Hut quality and that's fine with most people, especially if you have young kids. And, of course, what visit to Shakey's is complete without some Mojo Potatoes? Basically, they are well-seasoned thick potato slices. I like them and there's also some added nostalgic value there. On the negative side, our food took forever to make which was a bit of a drag. Also, there were multiple uncleaned tables on a Saturday night that remained uncleaned during our entire visit. My guess is the restaurant was short-staffed (both front and back of house) which doesn't make a lot of sense on a busy Saturday night. They've got beer and a salad bar (now that's a real unicorn these days) and you can even get anchovies on your pizza (save your hate, they're good). They also have TVs everywhere so if there is sports being played somewhere, this is the place to watch it. I probably wouldn't return for the pizza and certainly not for the dirty tables. The Mojos are solid and if you have young children, are looking to catch a game, or if you want some decent nostalgia, it's worth a visit. Bonus points if you come dressed in your old Little League uniform. read more

Good place for families with little children. The prices are decent and depends on what you purchase. Service was good. Ambiance... It is basically a pizza place with a lot of tables and a small arcade. The food is pretty standard. I prefer Chuck E. Cheese or Round 1 pizza compared to this place. The video games are mostly $1 each to play and a couple at $0.50. You get a decent amount of tickets but the prizes kind of suck lol read more

Location is huge and lots of parking in the lot. Can get loud if there's a lot of kids. The food is just ok. It's not bad, but it's not great. The buffet is cheap so it's worth it if you have kids, since they have a game room attached to the restaurant. Service was good and friendly. They have beer so that's a plus. read more

So glad that there's at least 1 last Shakey's Pizza Parlor left in San Diego County.. I grew up on this , as my family is from LA, and was delighted to know there were Shakey's in Grossmont Plaza and Chula Vista as well, bith both of rhose closed. So Escondido it is! I called in my order which went very well. I told them I would be there in 15 mins, as I was driving in from Las Vegas. When I got there they confirmed my order and told me it would be about 5 mins more. I didn't mind the wait; I was just happy to get Shakey's and take it home to my kids. They love it too! It was really busy inside with a party going on. They also had their lunch buffet open with lots of yummy pizza and salad. I almost ordered a beer, but decided not to. Thanks again, Shakey's for an awesome product! read more

This place is so nostalgic. I always have been going here and there are so many food options. The food is so good. If you're going to the arcade, it is really cheap and the games are so fun. You can win so many prizes with just $20. Ambiance is nostalgic. Servers are fast :) there's also Oreo pizza! read more

Among the few remaining dine-in quick-serve pizza places, this is the best around. Got a pan crust combination with meats and veggies which was very good. The crust was tasty enough with a nice crisp on the cornicione and undercarriage, but I think I'd like their regular thin crust better. The sauce was very tasty and they apply the perfect amount, unlike many places where you can hardly taste it. Some complain there's not enough cheese, but I think it's just right. Just ask for extra if you're a big cheeshead. There are shakers at the tables with grated parmesan and red pepper flakes. The salad bar is about the best I've seen at such places, with two lettuce types plus spinach, and more fresh toppings and dressings than you need. It's great that they offer a one-trip option for only $6.89 to complement a meal. They also have a decent selection of beers on tap. For the $15 all-you-can-eat lunch, they add a variety of hot foods to the buffet like fried chicken, potatoes, pasta, garlic bread, meatballs, and of course pizza. It's a good deal compared to many other hot lunch options where you pay about the same at other non-fast food places for just a burger, chicken sandwich, or kabob wrap. Prices are reasonable, service was fast and friendly, it's very clean and spacious with a small arcade, and the excellent health score is icing on the cake. I hope they'll be able to stay in business as the operating expense on the massive standalone building that used to house a Sizzler must be astronomical. read more

Came here for lunch before seeing a movie at the Regal Theaters. Decided to try their lunch buffet. I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant was kept up very well. It was very clean and the tables were stocked with Ketchup, Parmesan cheese, hot peppers, salt, and pepper. There were about 6 different pizzas to choose from and many other hot food choices including couple different chicken options and potatoes. The salad bar had a great selection of toppings. The server lady stopped by all the tables asking if we needed anything. The pizza was normal buffet pizza, not great but tasty. I must say the fried chicken was pretty good for buffet chicken. I will definitely come back again. read more

I had a mediocre experience, but I'll still give 4/5 for the good service. I want to think this was the Shakey's I went to as a kid, but I'm an old man and times have changed. I had the pizza here about a year ago and it was okay, no issues, but nothing to write home about. Last week I stopped in with a relative and we both had the chicken sandwiches. Wow... I should have eaten the cardboard tray instead of the food. When we ordered them we were asked "Mayo and pickle?" No, those sound gross. Why ruin a chicken sandwich with that? What is this, a middle school cafeteria? No thank you, we passed. When the sandwiches were delivered it was just a bun and a dry piece of fried chicken. Okay, so I get it now. The only way to make these palatable was be adding something. Something? Yes, please add something. Mayo and pickle? Eeew. The funny thing is, this is a pizza place and a pizza place should have a pretty good selection of sauces. Even if they don't have a selection, surely there's some kind of BBQ sauce or pizza sauce back there, right? The business was clean, the staff was friendly and that deserves a 4/5 right there. Would I return? Sure. .....I'm not ordering that chicken sandwich again, that's for sure. They had a few more chicken based items on the menu and at this point I'm kind of doubtful about any of them being done well. I hope they don't have a chicken pizza, it will probably be layered in mayo and have pickles sprinkled on it. read more

The food here is so good! We ordered a small pepperoni pizza with a side of their wings and their famous mojo potatoes. The pizza was hand tossed and it was pretty thick, but had good flavor. The potatoes were nice and crispy while still being soft inside and the wings were actually really good, small, but they had a lot of flavor and it was good quality chicken we got a side of cheese with the potatoes and a side of ranch and Buffalo sauce with the wings. If Ranch is something you care a lot about, their ranch here was very good, perfect flavor and thickness read more

Shakey's has always been a nostalgic spot for me--growing up, it was a go-to favorite. Even though this location is far from where we live, I've already made the trip 3-4 times because the food brings back memories. I've dined in twice, and while I don't expect perfection, I do expect basic professionalism. Unfortunately, tonight's experience was disappointing. While placing my order at the counter, the staff member helping me abruptly stopped halfway through and passed me off to someone else without explanation--only for me to immediately see him head off to what looked like a snack break. If you're not available or about to take a break, don't start taking an order. It felt careless and unprofessional, especially if he holds a leadership role (he might even be a manager). That said, there are still some great team members here who are kind and helpful, and I appreciate them. I'll probably be back--mostly because my mom loves this place--but I'll definitely be managing expectations when it comes to service. I really hope things improve moving forward. read more

Shakey's Pizza Parlor - Pizza, mojos and chicken with sauces. - Pizza Near Me - Escondido, California

Here's a cleaner version of your review, still honest and direct: Shakey's Pizza is overpriced for what you get. The food doesn't match the price, especially the fried chicken--it's incredibly small, probably the smallest I've ever seen. The taste is just okay, nothing special that justifies the cost. Even the pizza is decent at best, not something I'd go out of my way for. Overall, I left feeling like I paid too much for a very average meal. I expected better portions and quality for the price. Not a place I'd be excited to visit again. read more

When's the last time you went to Shakey's Pizza Parlor? We stopped in after a workout to check out the lunch buffet, and we were pleasantly surprised! All of the food was super fresh. After seeing so many positive reviews on Yelp, I finally got to try Shakeys Pizza located in Escondido, CA, but it failed me in many ways. Generally, I'm not a picky eater, but the food here reminds me of below-average school cafeteria quality. Heck, even I think the school cafeteria has better foods than here back in the older days. The good 4/5 Fried chicken and Mojos potatoes were good. Good selections, on point Pepsi fountain beverages. Plenty of parking; inside was spacious and semi-clean. The bad 1/5 Almost $20 for lunch with a drink all you can eat with limited selections and subpar quality and foods. I recommend going to any Chinese buffet or any Paradise Buffet location; you can thank me later. Baked chicken was extremely salty. The pepperoni pizza twist was so hard and dry it wasn't eatable except for the pepperoni itself. Croutons were stale and soft. Salad doesn't seem that fresh. The gravy doesn't look appetizing like a big globe of crapola. Pizza wasn't good nor bad; I had much better at Paradise Buffet. Service was mediocre, like the food itself. I was working on my two plates that had a good amount of food still, and the cashier/busser said, Am I done eating? Can he take those away?". SMH I'm not sure if any type of desert was offered with the lunch buffet. I figured the food would taste decent if I went early for their lunch buffet; I was wrong. I don't think I will miss Shakeys Pizza lunch of bunch buffet when you have so much better options for practically the same price with better selections and quality. read more

Another buffet to cherish! Although this is only offered for lunch hours daily from 11am to 2pm, you can consume enough to skip dinner :) The food is decent, but it's even better for the price of $12.99 on weekdays and $13.99 on weekends. Standouts were the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and garlic bread. Fried chicken: Juicy, crispy, and seasoned, 8/10 rating for all you can eat. You can request chicken breast pieces. Mashed potatoes: were smack too. Melt in your mouth and smooth with the seasoned light gravy. 8/10. Hawaiian and meat lovers pizza: these were dry, lacking sauce and cheese. Definitely tasted like buffet food. 7/10 rating. Bbq chkn pizza: was better, as it had more flavor and cheese, 7.5/10. The service was ok. They didn't pick up our used buffet plates while we were dining, but that's fine as we didn't have much and we were seated at a large table. The Diet Pepsi was out at the soda fountain, so I had plenty of iced teas and regular sodas. The restaurant is large, with ample seating and a separate room with arcade games. It's summer break; therefore, there were a bunch of kids, but it wasn't loud in the dining area. Although, you could hear them all enjoying the arcade room. read more
