This is a pick up only location but I personally prefer that over dine-in, pizza is more so a lay back and relax at my house kind of food for me. Pizza was delicious! FINALLY FOUND IT!!! I grew up in the Hudson Valley area of NY and moved to Southern California 15 years ago. I have been endlessly searching for pizza that's anywhere close to what we can get back home and finally FINALLY found it here. I'm not talking anything fancy. I'm talking about a pizza that's a good, solid slice without breaking the bank from the kind of place you call on Friday nights before you watch movies on the couch. And Pizza Amore is it. The cheese is perfect, just like NY. Toppings too. But what really makes it is the crust. Perfectly crunchy underneath but chewy with a good flop. Literally perfect. And the giant pie?! This long time Escondido pizza place whose local history is well documented in other great reviews, has been on my radar for just, um, what, a few years now?! On a very busy Halloween night I ordered a 3-Topping 16" with extra cheese. I say busy because the estimated time for pick up from my call was 40 minutes and when i got there at that time, my order was still behind a couple of others. Being that i was there, they expedited my ticket up the chain and got me a hot pie in 15 minutes. Super stoked to see them so busy. And I completely forgot that it was Halloween.... The main event is of course the pizza. I thought the pizza was okay, good and all, but nothing i can really boast about. Now, there was nothing wrong with anything, and it is obviously way better than "fast pizza" but i felt like it lacked a little zest. The crust was not quite NY thin crust but was cooked very well. I am torn about Pizza Amore. The folks behind the counter (the owners, I think) were very nice and grateful for my business. There is ample parking. I loved the tomato sauce. And the 28-inch ("Giant") pizza of the customer in front of me looked good. BUT, the entree called "Chicken Parmesan Plate with Garlic Bread" was laughably small, though it met expectations in terms of taste. It was a decent-sized piece of garlic bread and three medium-size-at-most pieces of chicken covered in cheese and tomato sauce. In my experience, the entree "plates" at other establishments always have some combination of pasta, salad, and/or a decent amount of chicken. This -- the most expensive entree on the menu -- instead should be called "Chicken Parmesan Hors d'Oeuvre" or "Three Lil' Chickie Nugs." To make sure there wasn't a mistake or that I wasn't being Punk'd -- shout-out to millennials -- I called the restaurant to investigate. The person who picked up told me that the portion size was not a mistake and that next time I could additionally order a spaghetti entree. The home of the "Giant" pizza should not require you to get two "entrees" to be sated. Stick with the pizza! read more

Something happened to their pizza over the past couple of years. When we first tried this place, we LOVED it. But each subsequent visit since that first one, the quality and taste gradually got worse. We usually just get a regular pepperoni pizza and it was fantastic. This time around, it fell totally flat. There wasn't even enough cheese to cover the crust. If I could see the crust through the cheese layer, there's something fundamentally wrong. We also ordered the buffalo wings - big mistake. As I was waiting for my order, I see them put a frozen pan of already prepared wings in the pizza oven. The wings we're piping hot but it was a ball of mush - the texture was so gross we couldn't finish it. We ended up throwing it out and I HATE to waste food. Hate to say that that was my last visit. I'd rather have any pizza chain over this place anyway. They get two stars because they had friendly service and a clean restaurant. read more
