I've been coming to Shaina for almost 3 years now for services, after following her work on social media for some time. Shaina and her staff always made sure I was beyond comfortable and respected. The place is tastefully decorated, CLEAN, and the staff were very well made-up, which is a plus in my book !!!! I always leave with a smile on my face and feeling beautiful. Had my mink lashes done by Shaina and AGAIN she always surprises me. they lasted me over a month and I've never had any issues. I've had two collagen treatments and again major great results. A month later had my tattoo eyebrow and again another great experience. Love my eyebrows. I really hate to leave this review but I'm hoping it will help better this business. The owner is a nice girl, however, I went for a facial and it wasn't a great experience. The phone rang multiple times during the facial and she stopped and answered and took appointments during my facial. It was not relaxing at all. There were children in and out of the room playing a loud game or whatever it was. I totally understand that Life happens but this is a business that people spend there hard earned money to support. Scheduled an appointment for a facial, and was hounded on the phone about how I heard about the business. I guess they were trying to determine if I had a groupon (which I didn't). Stopped by about 2 summers ago but I figured I'd give this place a well-deserved overdue review. First, I love convenience, so I was happy to see that the Bronx had a makeup spa. All I wanted was a nice eye make up for work, nothing more. I was super excited. As soon as I arrived, I can start to see how unprofessional the make-up spa is. There was no receptionist, just customers waiting around. I waited about 30 minutes until she finally came out of a room with another client. I noticed right off the bat that the owner was very unprofessional; while she gossiped about herself as she was applying eyelashes on a client. When it was finally my turn, I tell the owner what I want and she starts to tell me in a rude manner, that she only performs professional make up work; which includes airbrush and all the other things I did not want on my face. Then she tells me that she only makes exceptions for friends and families; however she is going to cut me some "slack", just this once. So, I ask her how much will this cost and she quoted almost $70; I could have gave her the money but her attitude was so nasty, I ended up just going to work without any eye make up. In addition, I did purchase a cute necklace there for $15; when I handed the owner a $20 and she told me to go outside and get change from the store. I maintained my cool and bought the necklace but I left with so much disappointment and disgust towards the owner, I'm never coming back. Not even if I was desperate. What annoyed me the most is that I told the lady on the phone what I wanted when I made my appointment; apparently she wasn't paying attention or was too incompetent to do her job. My time is extremely valuable, so I was pretty upset it was wasted coming to this unprofessional establishment. I don't know what the owner's problem was but her attitude needs adjustment. She behaved in a manner as if she's doing me this huge favor by performing a paid service on me. Treat people with respect, in the meantime, enjoy this well-deserved one star review; which reflects your attitude towards me that day. I was going to give her a zero star but I decided to cut the business owner some "slack", so I'll let her have just one. read more

Booked a make-up session and the make-up was very good but incomplete. The jaw and neck area are untouched and it makes the loads of makeup even more obvious. The reason for the 1 star is the customer service. When we arrived at the door for the appointment (running 4 mins late) we realized the door was locked and no one was inside. we waited a few minutes out of curtesy but then 10 mins had passed and still no one. Who leaves their business minutes before/after an appointment? I called and they told me they stepped out really quick and 5 more mins. My sister had her hair done for prom and tried to avoid sweating but waiting outside on a hot sunny day for 30 MINUTES was unacceptable. Then when it was time to pay I come to the surprise that its cash only bc the owner carries the card reader but she wasn't in that day. What if I didn't have cash? I would have to run to the bank and mess up the make-up and hair bc they failed to inform their customers of very important details? Mind you we were already 30+ minutes behind schedule due to their long delay. Oh, and when I mentioned the lashes were free with my yelp check-in she tried to tell me not with her service. I told her when I booked my appt I asked about the deal and they told me it was valid. So she went and asked someone and came back clearly pissed and said "just pay me for the make-up session". I will not be coming back here again and I will inform the salon that recommended us this place of our visit. read more

It's in a great location, it's cute and small, it has a lot of potential I'm sure it can progress and get bigger if she has more staff members and a more professional setting. I got an appointment quick, I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment. I was just disappointed by the products used for my service, I got the individual lashes that last 1-2 weeks, and I was surprised to see the products she was using were actually very cheap, I mean I got them done for $30 but I could've did it myself for $10. They look nice, but they've already fallen out, and the last glue is not good for under water and I discussed me going in water with the lashes. On the glue website itself it says it's not good for water. I was super excited about them lasting long because they looked gorgeous, but they aren't lasting. They randomly come out during the day when I blink :( I feel as if this place has potential! The products just need some upgrading! Shaina is really sweet, she accommodated me to fix my lashes when they were falling out, but I've gotten my lashes done before and they lasted 20 days with maybe 1 or two falling out because of me rubbing them. Other than that, I won't go back. Or pay $250 for Mink lashes because of this experience! read more

I made an appointment at Shaina's to have my make-up done for a wedding. I'd been following the work of the owner and her staff on Instagram for a while, and was so excited to finally have an excuse to come here. Seeing that I was visibly pregnant, the owner, Shaina, made sure I was comfortable as soon as I got into the makeup chair, adjusting the AC to my liking. The make-up artist who was assigned the task of glamming me up, Julieta (?) was flawlessly made up - always a good sign! I found out later that she was a MAC artist for seven years, and had a ton of editorial and video experience in both New York and Miami. After getting an idea of the sort of look I was going for - smoky eyes, contoured skin, and a fun lip - she got to work. Most of the products she used were Motives, and all of them felt really light and comfortable. The artist took her time, and I was left with a beautiful complexion and KILLER smoky eyes! We agreed to finish the look with a pink lip for a pop of color - just what I needed to brighten up my little black dress. I'm normally really uncomfortable with wearing lashes, but the owner helped me pick out a perfect pair. I can now see why some women wear lashes every day. Going into my appointment, I was feeling self-conscious about my eyebrows. I'm cursed with coarse eyebrows, and had been trying to grow them out after a couple of botched jobs at local threading places. Without making a big deal, the artist kindly told me that Shaina was going to step in to touch up my brows. Using tweezers, a small razor, and bit of make-up, Shaina had my brows looking perfectly arched, clean, and photo ready. I'm glad to have found a professional alternative to waxing and threading! Okay. So I started off a draft a few months ago and completely forgot about it until I saw a Groupon for this establishment today and remembered. Let me start off my saying that the facial my daughter had was great. However, when we originally arrived the place was closed, (we scheduled an appt) apparently the girl had an emergency but never called me to say she wasn't going to be there. She finally called back and we went back for her facial. At the time the owner was the only one working there so she was doing the facial, while making appointments on the phone, and her children were there. One was even in the same room as my daughter as she did her facial! I understand everyone has things going on but this place is unprofessional. Which is sad Bc she's really nice and very knowledgeable. But from what I hear from other people who have been there as well, is that there's always chaos in that place. Your best bet is to go to the city if you can. Go somewhere, where you can relax and enjoy your money. ‍ read more

This is my second time coming to Shaina's. The first time, Kayla did my makeup. The second, Shaina. Both did an amazing job!! My only complaint is that I would have preferred to see that the makeup was clean and organized and that all brushes were clean. I got a Groupon deal of 3 Facial and schedule the appointment for 1.30pm. On my day of appointment I have to wait 40 mins plus they said they have only 1 facial deal online but than I showed them the print out proving its 3 facial deal. Once they took me in back room there were 2 beds as someone else was already getting facial next to my bed. The room is not sealed and room has wall divider and door is kept open mostly so there is no spa like experience as you can hear everything everyone is talking. Owner Shaina was nice & friendly and explain me everything but she was in & out many times as trying to take care of everything which I do not appreciate. If someone is there for facial you have to give your full 45 mins attention to the customer. But everyone was busy ordering food and going out and talking too loud to other people. It was not at all spa like experience which I am use too. I went there at 1.15pm and left at 4pm . Shaina offered me free offer to do eye brows which she did a good job .This place looks good for make up or hair if they do it. But defiantly not for Facial or any spa experience. I won't go there again and decided not too use my remaining facial deal. I called Groupon and they gave me 70% credit. read more
