Shah's Halal Food is now open in Providence, Rhode Island. I've had Shah's Halal Food in NY when I lived there, so I was very happy to see a location open on the busy Thayer Street. Previously, I had passed by and saw it was Yum's Halal but now it has changed to Shah's Halal Food. All the meats and toppings are already prepared; it is an easy-to-order option and you can customize it to your liking. I got the combo over basmati rice platter which has lamb and chicken, and added black beans, lettuce, salata (Cucumber Tomato), hummus, onion, pepper, and extra white sauce. The staff member preparing my meal was friendly. There are a few tables to sit in and eat or take out. I did take out. The lamb and chicken was moist, juicy, and flavorful. It was super filling and even good for 2 servings. Definitely try Shah's Halal Food if you need something quick and filling.

I've been on a hunt to find honey cake ever since I leaned about its existence and had been…read morestruggling to find, and then stumbled upon Jahunger while at a Wickeden Street Market. Was so pleasantly surprised. NGL based on the name I always assumed Jahunger was Jamaican but it is indeed a Uyghur restaurant. I got the Jahunger Noodles with tofu and I really liked it. Good flavors and love that they have tofu / are accessible to other diets. I did think the dish was a little too oily but I still would get it again and have since I first tried. The honey cake is also delicious! They call it "not your average honey cake) but I've not had an average one to compare to, so the hunt continues lol. My only complaint is that all the dishware is plastic. I ordered one of the teas and the entire pot with the boiling water was plastic...not a fan of that.

The lamb skewers were tender, light seasoning and little gamey but not overly. I really enjoyed the meefeen, it definitely has a kick to it. The rice noodle was nothing I have had before. I was expecting the typical thin rice noodle from a package but these were the real thing. They were thick and the perfect texture. It's like the thickness of udon but texture of rice noodle. It is a tad oily which makes sense because I think the sauce is made with chili oil. I also tried the honey cake. The cake is moist, and paired well with the ice cream. I did not put much of the honey on top because it was already really sweet as is. It was an enjoyable slice of cake to finish the meal off. Great place and delicious food! I would order here again but open to try their other items than re-ordering what I had today.

Their kefta is stellar--juicy, perfectly spiced with a smoky char that bursts with flavor in every bite. Standout Dishes Chicken rice stands out as a comforting highlight, tender shredded chicken over fragrant, seasoned basmati rice with just the right amount of herbs and warmth. The grape leaves are a must-order too, stuffed plump with rice and herbs, tangy yet mellow, making them addictive as an appetizer [ from prior context on health-aligned foods]. Overall Experience Service is friendly and quick, the atmosphere cozy for a casual meal or takeout, and prices keep it accessible without skimping on quality. I couldn't finish the whole thing but was close lol - chicken shawarma wrap: very tender and flavorful chicken. This was also a very big wrap! My husband was able to finish it all and was stuffed. - falafel pieces: nice flavor and crispy - fries : these were super crispy and soft on the inside. The flavor was delish! Service: There was only one person working there and handling everything when we were there. He did a good job handling everything. Ambiance: It's a cute small spot. A couple of tables to sit down at but it's set up more for a takeout. There's some cool middle eastern decor in there as well. Overall, we would go back again.

You order at the kiosk and they prepare your food and call your name when it's ready. I ordered the saag with potatoes and the gentleman also gave me a complimentary pink dessert. I've had Indian food all around the world and always love ordering saag. When I tell you this was one of the BEST saags I've ever had I'm not lying. Quite honestly it was incredible. The spinach was blended very well, it was incredibly creamy, and there were even some chunks of onions and peppers throughout. The potatoes practically melted in my mouth but still had enough bite to contrast the creamy saag. The meal was spiced perfectly and offered a multitude of complex flavors. The portions were enormous. They definitely gave me enough rice and curry for atleast two meals. If this was the quality of one of their dishes I'm excited to try out more of their options! Utterly fantastic. Don't let the outside fool you- this is a must try for Indian dishes.

I did go at 3pm and I was the only person in there, so I'm sure that had some effect on the quality of food. The rice was a little hard and cold, a majority of the toppings were fresh and crisp, but even the protein was a bit cold. The amount of sauce on top was drowning as well. The worker was very nice and walked me through the options which I appreciated.

I mainly came for the sweets, was able to get a tray of pistachio and walnut baklava, but they had a few other sweets like lady fingers and purses as well. Baklava was very good, very nice crispiness that held up for the week. I would've preferred it to have a bit more nuts and be a bit sweeter, but personal preference. Got the cheese fatayer which is just basically a cheesy bread with some herbs. So tasty, really enjoyed that! Also got a lamb kabob which came with some bread as well. The flavor here was good but didn't blow me away. Touch on the dry side too. Probably would get something else next time. They've also got coffee. I elected to get the Turkish coffee. It was thick and came in a pretty small cup, about a 3rd of that is the grounds. Fun to try, but very bitter, wouldn't recommend this either. Overall, really cool shop that seems very popular. Lots of interesting menu items to try. Definitely suggest checking it out!
