My husband and I visited Shaggy's today, and unfortunately, we were not impressed. I've seen so many recommendations for this restaurant and often notice it's busy, so I had high expectations. When we first arrived, neither the hosts nor the manager greeted us, which didn't make for a great first impression. On a positive note, our server, Abby, was very sweet, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The food, however, was disappointing. In my opinion, it was overpriced for the quality we received. To make matters worse, I found a hair in my food. The manager offered to remake the dish, but no discount or other accommodation was provided. While I appreciate the offer to replace the meal, I had already lost my appetite after finding the hair and felt some additional effort to make things right would have been fair. Overall, based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Delightful Friday lunch with husband, and cousin & her husband from NY. Boys had beers, girls had non-alcoholic drinks. I went for the Virgin Mary; it was REALLY good and packed a kick. Both husbands swiped veggies off my garnish. Shared the Beach Balls app; came with a cheese dip & ranch - yum! Cousin had the Sunset Salad with Unicorn fish (Triggerfish), dressing on the side. She said the fish was cooked perfectly, and from where I was sitting, it seemed to be bigger than the salad. Husband ordered the shrimp platter with 3 types of shrimp & hushpuppies. He shared 1 of each with the other husband and demolished the rest. I snagged a hush puppy - very good, though I prefer mine cooked a little firmer. Other husband ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos and I ordered the Hawaiian (pork) tacos; both came with chips and salsa which barely got a glance with all the food on the table. LOVED that both tacos were loaded with large tidbits of pineapple. My 4th review of this place. I love bbq pork and this was closest to me this winter. The bbq was good enough, but not a fan of take their 1 sauce or none. The fries were good and plentiful. Once again, it happened again. I go in with my son, order a Cajun Bloody Mary.. the delivery it and tell me the kitchens behind on the bacon wrap shrimp for my drink. Needless to say, I got completely done with my drink and still no shrimp! I told my server not to worry about it, but she insisted that she wanted to talk to the manager. I told her to wait until after we had left, and then she could talk about it all she wanted. Upon my leaving the location, the manager came out and apologized and insisted that she credited back my drink to my account. Well, I guess that was just another lie as well, no credit appeared on my account at all. Real shame, especially considering she was supposed to be a manager??? Pls don't lie to customers. I've been to Shaggy's as a visitor 3 times and this will be my last. Plenty of other establishments And look another month has gone by and still no contact from management or ownership! We had 2 wait over 30 minutes for a place to set! No one was there! Plenty of. Open tables! My dad is disabled and he had to climb 3 flights of stairs only to be turned away because of no place to set!! The food was a little better than that of McDonald's! We will never visit again!!! I am absolutely a huge fan of this Shaggy's. I came in for dinner my first night of a trip to the Gulf, and happened to be staying in Pass Christian. It was open late, and was a bright and inviting restaurant at the harbor, where you can choose to eat (or drink, or both) indoors, or out on the deck. The deck was delightful. I was lucky enough to be served by Hanna, a charming, knowledgeable, and efficient server who guided me to an outstanding meal of Royal Red Shrimp. She made awesome drink and beer recommendations, and her recommendation of the shrimp was spot on. Plus, she was just a delightful person, and clearly had made it her goal to see that I had an excellent experience in the restaurant, checking to see if I needed anything every time she passed by my table. So much so, that the next day when I still had not left for my next stop on the itinerary, I came in to Shaggy's for a late lunch. I again sat outside and asked for Hanna's section. Hanna was again a star, this time recommending the firecracker shrimp tacos, which were some of the best shrimp tacos I have ever had. I was lucky enough to also be attended by Patty, another delightful server, so I felt like truly an honored guest, or even a friend or elderly relative. I recommend this Shaggy's very highly -- while there are multiple Shaggy's, and they are probably all good, I love this one. In fact, I planned my stay to even be able to eat there on my last night of the trip! read more

What's there not to love? Visiting from Pennsylvania for the third time in three years to Shaggy's and it never disappoints. Royal reds are always spot on and service is always top notch! Climb the stairs to get up about three stories to their main restaurant level. I arrived about 11:15 am and there was no waiting on a Friday. They will give you a choice of dining inside or outside. Inside are a multitude of fans and misters making it a comfortable dining experience. You have great views of the Gulf from anywhere inside or out. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Flounder topped with Lemon Butter Cream Sauce which was one of two specials of the day. The side was Sautéed Veggies which was basically squash and zucchini. This was an excellent dish perfectly prepared. It was delicious. I noticed the other tables ordering the fried stuff off the regular menu and I think they were missing out. Here's a hint people, when the chef offers a special or two it's usually a specialty they excel at and don't always offer. You might want to take advantage of that next time. They had a good selection of desserts but I was just too full from finishing my entire lunch. Service was outstanding throughout my entire time. Wow the royal red shrimp sautéed with sausage and potatoes in a white wine sauce was excellent. The picture doesn't do it justice. Huge shrimp that were easy to peel. It was a great meal with a small salad and the shrimp and spinach cheese dip appetizer. Fantastic service (Kyle the manager is friendly and runs a great ship) and the view of the bay and boats from the deck is delightful. We ordered the fried shrimp platter and coconut shrimp platter. Both came with fries and hush puppies. My wife really liked the Asian Zing dipping sauce with the coconut shrimp. Beautiful view with great service. I got the cheeseburger. Initially had ordered French fries but my son mentioned to our server that I have a shellfish allergy and she let us know that the fries are fried up in the same oil as the shellfish. So I switched to a salad. It was tasty as was the cheeseburger. Fun place. read more

Worst service on the MS Gulf Coast. You walk in and no one even looks at you for 10 minutes. There's always a wait no matter when you go despite many open tables. Very rude, unorganized, and poorly run. There's other places around with a much better menu and service. read more

It was a gorgeous day so I wanted to treat myself to a leisurely lunch on the deck. I have never been to Shaggys but a friend recommended. Ordered 1/2 doz royal red shrimp and some caribbean jerk chicken wings. I seriously doubt I received 1/2 lb. Those looked like 20 count shrimp and my serving was 8. Plus I am leary that they were reds. The texture was off and all I could taste was cayenne so truthfully I could not tell the flavor. There was so much seasonings the shrimp were dusty on the outside. All I could taste was cayenne which is a crime to do royal reds. I didnt realize when they said "jerked" that the wings were to be jerked like dried jerky. They were dry and crunchy but coated with the sauce. The menu described them as jumbo and I laughed out loud when they were brought to the table. I had to take a pic! I ate 3 shrimp and 3 wings and didnt wait for the waitress to come around but just dropped $40 on the table and left. read more

It was excellent but did not have much shrimp. My salad was so small it would have fit in my hand. The Sunset Salad with Poppyseed & Grilled Shrimp was delicious. The Shrimp & Spinach dip was okay. Our waitress was nothing short of outstanding. Genuinely friendly, well-spoken/articulate, and professional. The entire waitress staff worked well together, helping each other.
