We love hanging out here on Mondays for Pub Poll and Tuesdays for music bingo. Food is great, locals for friendly, and service is top notch.

We had a really yummy lunch at Shadowlawn Eats. We visited in the off season (early May) and were able to walk in and grab a table for 6 (4 adults + 2 kids). The staff were all very friendly, and our food was prepared quickly and accurately. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, restrooms included. Quick summary on the food, which was very satisfying overall: -The fried pickles were the best I've ever had! -The kids really enjoyed their food (from the kids menu). -We had two tuna dishes that were really fresh (a tuna steak sandwich and a tuna bowl). -One unwelcome surprise: the mustard sauce on the Cuban sandwich was quite spicy. read more

This was the first place my wife and I went to when we moved to Virginia. I thought the food was delicious, but my wife ordered the lobster rolls and they were NOT good. I'm thinking this is a one off though because I've read different reviews. The waitress was incredibly friendly, despite just coming back from some maternity time off. Drinks are good with plenty of options. I recommend the wings and the jalapeno poppers. Definitely willing to try again :-) read more

Phenomenal food ! We had amazing service call mom and the food is incredible. There were five of us and we had the chicken cheesesteak and the Brussel sprouts are the best on the planet, seriously. Garlic Parmesan wings were unquestionably the best wings I've ever had. The jalapeño deviled eggs cannot be described unless you actually have them. An absolute must for an appetizer. The fried chicken sandwich (Asian) was 10 out of 10 ! The lobster roll is packed with lobster, and was exceptional. I don't care if you're 60 miles away you need to make the trip here. This place is good, and many of the food options are solid, but all in all I didn't have the grandest experience. That being said, I would 100% go back and I think they'll iron out most of these issues soon. Also granted, went for lunch on a Monday, which is not exactly peak time. But they were out of close to half the original menu items, several of which are blacked out and permanently off the menu, the others were just 86'ed. With that many goners, it's time to print new menus. They were also down to only 2 beers on tap, which is disappointing for a neighborhood bar in a town with so many breweries. I had the Asian tofu lettuce wraps, which were not good. Just not good. Maybe my fault for ordering something like that at a place like this, but the lettuce was wilted and the tofu was flavorless. Really disappointing given that they're taking so much off the menu, I'd think what's left would be better. THAT SAID, my friends ordered the bacon sampler and the philly cheesesteak, both of which were MUCH better than mine. I'd say give it a try, but maybe go on a Thursday or Friday and maybe give them some time to work some of this out. And order something with meat, I guess. read more

I came here for a late night dinner with my sister. It's definitely the local, neighborhood bar with friendly staff and smiles. I ordered the stuffed fish/lobster with the green beans and mashed potato as sides. The green beans and fish/lobster were incredible, well-seasoned and tasty!! The mashed potatoes were decent, but I'd probably go with the brussel sprouts next time. The staff were friendly, seemed very happy to have us in there and checked on us to make sure we were good with food/drink. The parking lot is very tiny but we came after the dinner rush when there were a couple spots open. They do have a few tables outside as well but it was cold so we ate inside. read more

My wife and I came here on a whim after deciding that it was a good day for eating out. We got there soon after Shadowlawn opened for lunch, and were slightly discouraged because the parking lot was a ghost town. When we got inside, the staff was very attentive, and they were quick to take drink orders and provide input on the menu, without being overbearing. Once we got the food, which came relatively quick, it was phenomenal. Apparently since they opened in February, they've chopped the menu down in size and only left the most well-liked items, and it shows. There are enough options that we could both find something that we wanted, but not so many that it took an eternity to choose. TLDR: The food was great, the service was great, and we're happy we found this place. read more

Heard some negative things about the food when they first opened, so was a little hesitant to try. That said, a lot of places have that issue when they first open up, takes a while to get things down. Was pleasantly surprised. Tried because a friend randomly came to see me and we wanted to sit outside somewhere we could take her dog. Casual bar atmosphere and food. Cute decor. I really liked my Philly cheesesteak. But the Mac n cheese was awesome. Perfect 'hangover' cure paired with a good Bloody Mary. Friend liked her chicken sandwich and her hand cut fries. Definitely would go again. Only feedback is the table next to us had dirty dishes the whole time and it was a little annoying since sitting outside and there were flies. Like everywhere right now, seemed a little short staff. We tried the lumpia, which was so good with a sauce variety that was amazing!!!! we also had the Cuban sandwich and the stuffed flounder, and they were both really delicious, the portions were good. Lastly, for dessert, we had the shawdowlawn stixx, wow so yummy and it came with a variety of sources to dip them in! The service was also very great, the chef came out and checked on us multiple times, and gave us food suggestions. It seems like a very great atmosphere with friendly staff who seem to genuinely like each other. My wife and I went last night 2/3/22. At first glance it was small cramped, with a smell of frying oil. We managed to find a table, and that is where it all started. I had a cinnamon old fashioned from their drink menu. The drink was one of the best I have had. The male who waited on us, was also the bartender. He was attentive, polite, friendly. My wife ordered the lobster roll, and I had their take on a BLT. The food took awhile because everything was made fresh. The taste of both dishes was amazing. The staff over all were amazing. Stopped by with three young kids during a downpour and scored. Grownups loved the whiskey sour, beer, blackened salmon, Brussel sprouts, fried fish dinner with a million shrimp, and kids swallowed the mac and cheese, hotdogs, chicken tenders and fries. Nice lunch specials and on tap selection. Meatloaf was the best I have had to date. It was flavorful without being overly dense and heavy. The Brussels sprouts were savory. Hard to find Brussels sprouts that are not hard, or too mushy, and these were just right, crispy on the outside and cooked with bacon. Classic old school VB surf vibe atmosphere.
