I have contracted with John and his business three times, two for radio installations and once for window tinting. The first was window tinting on my 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt in 2017. He did an awesome job and the film on all the windows are holding up really nice six years later. Next was a Kenwood radio install on the Mustang. He did an amazing job modifying the dashboard to accommodate the new head until. Last week we had new radio installed on my son's 2015 Toyota Tacoma. The stock radio in it was awful and an upgrade was needed. Again, John did really great work. He gave us solid recommendations and kept us within the price point we were budgeted for. Fantastic! I cannot recommend John at Shade Sound and Security enough. I went in with an older car that I have every intention of keeping forever. I adventure a lot and this vehicle needed some quality of life improvements; the stereo had always been awful, the road noise was so bad you couldn't listen to music (which was kinda fine since the stereo was so bad), and I really wanted to get some real UV protection, among other things. I placed a request though Yelp to help me find a few estimates of the jobs I wanted done and John responded quickly with a good bit of detail on the process and a very fair price. After speaking with him and him working with me to get my vehicle done in time for my anniversary, we settled on a date for an estimate and, if I agreed, work could proceed that day. On the estimate day, after speaking with John about my specific goals and adding on a few more repairs that had cropped up, John gave me an estimate that wasn't too much more than what was suggested through Yelp. I couldn't believe it! I had decided on several more windows to tint than I had originally wanted, was particular about the stereo control unit, and decided to sound deaden 4 doors instead of 2. How could the price not have gone up? I happily agreed so the work could begin on Monday, and was told that the job would be finished by Thursday or Friday. About noon on Wednesday, I got a call that my vehicle would be ready by 2pm. Again, I was floored. Who has ever had auto work done and not only gets work done for the estimate, but also gets the job done faster than expected? I've never experienced that before. To top off this already great experience, John told me that several of my dash lights had burnt out and while he was there he replaced them. It may have been an easy effort for him, as the console was already dissembled for the radio work, but the attention to detail and customer care is very rare these days and I appreciate it. The car sounds great, is super quiet, the heat is noticeably lessened, the tints are beautiful. I never had to haggle, I never felt taken advantage of, I was never sold things I didn't need or want, and I paid a fair price. Honestly, I probably paid too little for the work I had done, but John earned a repeat customer for sure. Look no further for a shade, sound, or security expert. THIS is the place to go! read more

We moved here from California where the legal tint is much darker than NC. To our dismay, that left us in the market for someone to remove the tint and apply a legal shade to get our registration renewed John was the only company we called that 1) answered the phone without us having to call more than once and 2) responded right away to an emailed quote request. We got his pricing and a couple of others' prices. John was actually less expensive AND really took time to explain the attention to detail he would take with our car. He's a one-man band and this company is his baby. He GENUINELY cares about providing his customers with the best tint job and customer service. My 2012 Camaro ZL1 had failed inspection as the film I had on the windows had become darker and had developed a purple hue. I initially went to Shade Sound and Security as this was the only window tinting company open on Saturday. There I met the owner, John. We spoke about the options and he explained the level of timing that would pass for sure, even if inspectors test equipment was faulty and he shared important differences between film types with regards to rejecting heat and keeping the car interior cool. John then showed me his 911 to demonstrate the level of expertise my car would receive. He is a true artisan. He cuts his film to fit as opposed to using a plotter to cut to a spec in the book. I was impressed how close to the edges he had applied the film compared to the film I had in the car which I thought was pretty good, until I saw Johns work. I knew who was going to do the job and I knew I found the right professional. John provided a quote to remove the existing film and apply the new film which I thought was fair based on his expertise. I travel a bit and my schedule is always changing. I told John I probably could not drop the car during the week and a Saturday drop off would probably work best. Then he could have the car throughout the week and I would pick it up the next Saturday. He agreed and he told me the car would be kept inside his garage safe and sound until I picked it up. John loves cars and treats everyone like they are his babies. This car while not brand new is my baby. John texted me on Monday when the car was completed. I tried to work out picking it up but could not make it too his shop in time. He offered to come back to the shop after hours to let me get the car as he lives close by. But, I felt bad doing that to him. So we agreed on Saturday. When I came to pick up the car, John had parked it out front. I walked up and was immediately impressed. This was a night and day result versus what I had in the car. He came outside and explained the previous installer had not replaced four of the trim clips. John had found them in the bottom of the trim pieces and correctly installed three of them. The fourth one was missing and John made one in the shop to fit. Wow! I doubt other installers would do that. John is the real deal. I appreciate his service, expertise, educating me about the product and process and his final product. I'll be back to John with other cars. He also installs security and sound systems and has a nice lobby / show room.
