I was excited to take charge of my healthcare and find a PCP who would be invested in my health at this stage of my life. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The doctor had little to no bedside manner. After our first appointment, I assumed she might have been having a difficult day, but the same pattern continued at nearly every visit. Appointments were typically very brief--often only 3-4 minutes. I was usually greeted without a smile, received short answers to my questions, and rarely got explanations about my care or treatment options. Visits often ended abruptly with, "We're all done here." I also felt that my interest in preventive healthcare was dismissed rather than encouraged. It seemed as though concerns were only taken seriously if they were severe or urgent, rather than focusing on maintaining long-term health and wellness. I understand that primary care physicians have demanding schedules and many patients to see each day. However, healthcare is a service that patients pay for and rely on. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and involved in decisions about their care. In my experience, there was very little effort to provide a positive patient experience or build a doctor-patient relationship. Overall, I found the interactions unfriendly, uncomfortable, impersonal, and unprofessional. She seems checked out. I know this doctor has many positive reviews, but it appears that much of her patient base may consist of older adults or patients with more serious medical conditions. Based on my experience, I would not recommend her to younger adults seeking a primary care physician for long-term, preventive-focused care.

You know, because you can have about the same cholesterol levels for 10+ years, and then have it nearly double in 3 months, and that's just age. She repeated this several times throughout the appointment and showed no curiosity at all as to whether something other than age might have caused it. She appears to be checked out of this job.

I was in Mexico and needed to be hospitalized. I wrote down everything they put in my body just in case. She kept hinting at depression, but I told her I would consider that if we could do all the blood tests to make sure there isnt anything else wrong with me. She not only was able to find out what was wrong with me, but we worked on a plan to get my numbers back in range. Also, she asks if I'm sticking to my regimen every follow up.

We learned to be "patient" with her because we knew she usually spent a lot of time to examine her patients and follow up with history. It is usually at least an hour per visit. The hospital set up time for the type of visits for doctors and she always ran overtime. This may not be good for patients who don't want to spend too much time with a doctor. But for baby boomers, we need someone who care us more than we care ourselves. She know my personal medical history and family history better than I do and she catches any problems before they get serious. I know two of her patients, my friends, got treated for cancer at early stages because Dr. Kwok knew something was not right and recommended them to go to the hospital for in-deep examinations. If you are young and healthy, and always rush to do everything, then you are better to stick with someone associated with the doctors under the hospital umbrella. They truly efficient. She is a concierge doctor now and she is now allowed to see patients with necessary time without limitation. The membership fee is worthy when you need outstanding care quality.
