For me first impressions are important. After interviewing several other landscaping contractors, SH Landscaping (Saul Jr) came across to me as a friendly, cordial, polite and very flexible personality! Compared to other contractors, I felt I could work with SH landscape since it was my landscape design I wanted them to bring to fruition. They were open to my design concept and application approach, but when there were issues in my design, Saul was honest and frank but not overbearing about his opinion of the installation methods that were going to be used. SH Landscape is a family business and his family was an integral part of the team that worked on our front yard project. They worked very well together and were in constant collaboration together working efficiently throughout my project. We were also very appreciative that we were able to work along side with the team collaborating on the selection, purchasing, and final placement of rocks, boulders, artificial turf and plants for our project. SH Landscape was also good at follow-up with the establishment of plants(making sure they did not go into shock and die later), and any other adjustments we had with the project, like turf correction or the replacement of a couple plants we wished to change. SH Landscape was very helpful with the vision I had with other landscape projects that we have going on and provided me with suggestions, samples of things they used(medicine/additives for trees), links to products they recommend, and as a courtesy brought me some bulk potting soil for a container planting project! Saul and the crew from SH Landscaping recently helped my wife and I refresh a significant portion of our home's landscape and hardscape and to also create an outdoor kitchen. The project had a number of interrelated components including removal and repurposing of some existing elements (gravel, flagstone and red brick); demolition of several pergolas (brick, concrete and wood); repair of existing brick planters; pouring a new patio slab and repairing stucco on the house; repair and augmentation of the existing irrigation system; fabrication and installation of two new aluminum pergolas and a pair of steel bistro light poles; installation of electrical outlets in several locations; and installation of stabilized decomposed granite, flagstones and railroad tie steps. Over several weeks, Saul helped us work through the details of the scope of work, and if there was an aspect of the project that fell outside of SH's skill set, he identified a company that could do the work and made the introductions. SH started on the agreed upon date and Saul was here every day to coordinate all of the subsequent work. The project finished on the agreed upon date and was completed for the agreed upon amount. During the work, Saul and his team were totally professional. They arrived early, stayed late, worked hard and were a joy to have in our home. We prioritize using contractors in our community, and we enjoyed working with every member of this family-run business. Saul, his son Saul Jr. & crew have been our gardeners for years & are much more than gardeners. They maintain our lawns weekly, as well as tree trimming, shrub removal & sprinkler repairs as needed. We recently contracted them to remove old grass in our back & side yard & lay new sod, bender board & replace old bark in all flower beds & replace with river rocks. Saul, his dad and crew did a terrific job on a very large portion of my property. I love how everything turned out. There was a lot of cleanup and stump removal on a steep slope that now is beautifully planted and has auto watering. In my fruit tree orchard, Saul put in gopher wire (who knew?, and it actually works) then covered it with chunky bark. He removed old dated stepping stones and replaced it with gorgeous flagstone. They did everything i asked and more. I admire their work everyday. Another thing that is important is when they started the project, they worked 6 days a week until it was done. not all contractors do that.
