I waited a month after Gilberto finished fixing my irrigation because I wanted to show the green…read moregrass that had been hiding from lack of water from my sprinklers for nearly a year. Long story, we had a bad irrigation person install our sprinklers in 2018. He totally overloaded the valves and also used cheap sprinklers so while they worked initially, apparently when the city reduced the pressure to homes, the sprinklers dropped in pressure significantly which then resulted in lack of coverage. So in 2021, I hired a highly rated irrigation specialist who charged me over $2,500 to supposedly fix my sprinklers which again kinda worked but after 6 months which was within the warranty, he was nowhere to be found so I had coverage issues again. but because of COVID , I took to hand watering the gaps as an activity and was able to keep things going. Fast forward to 2025 and not only was the coverage bad but the city must have reduced the pressure again so now none of the front sprinklers for the lawn could even pop up so I had to hand water the entire front lawn 2-3 times a week. This was getting to be too much but I struggled to call another irrigation company because I was worried I would be bamboozled again and we can't afford that but I just couldn't hand water forever and we even thought of going drought resistant which we are not a fan off so I did a ton of research to try to find another company that I could trust. I reached out to 3 companies and Gilberto (Gilbert) was the only one who identified the issue that my entire system was on sprinklers that were not pressure regulated which is now the current standard in California. Plus the others proposed significantly more invasive and cost prohibitive solutions. I don't know the technology but essentially the pressure regulated sprinklers helps add pressure so when the water pressure is not strong, it gives it a boost. This helps conserve water and I was floored by Gilbert offering to come and install a few to test it out for effectiveness and he even gave me a guarantee that if it didn't work, I didn't have to pay. Can you believe that? Well he came as he said he would, installed a few and the difference was amazing! So then we decided to fixed all the sprinklers in this same manner and one day , he texted me to say he had been thinking about our project and he wanted to share that there was a chance the fix may not work because we had 40 sprinkler heads on one valve. ( the max should be 8-12). Well we then discussed options and because of how genuine and knowledgeable Gilbert was, I put my trust in him and he implemented his plan. And voila! It now works and he even fertilized my grass afterwards to help it along and the photos say it all and as much as I love my garden, I am happy to have 3 hours a week back that Im not hand watering. Plus, he heard me complaining about how one sprinkler head was blocked by a plant and next thing I noticed, he added a riser. That wasn't even in our scope of work. And Gilbert has followed up 2 times in the last month to just see how things are going. I feel valued and he clearly takes pride in his work and cares about his customers and wants to have long term relationships. It's hard to find honorable and capable people these days but I finally found my irrigation prince after the frog.

If so, Bob Duarte is your guy! National Greens held themselves out as licensed for painting, plastering, and stucco. They are not and conducted unlicensed work in a hazard zone. Bob Duarte threatened to sue me for defamation in response to a 100% truthful review. Moreover, he sued my family for non-payment of work he completed on neighbor's property under trespass after he erected a planter without permission using highly flammable, creosete soaked railroad ties in the wake of a wildfire. What's more than that, he was sent the Zone Zero parameters that explicitly forbid such materials. Think twice before trusting the 5 star reviews here as most would be intimidated by the threat of defamation and bullying we have endured for over a year. Moreover, 7 out of 13 purported 5 star reviews have fewer than 5 reviews posted on Yelp. This is a contractor who creates fake mechanics lien's and delivers on Thanksgiving, has private investigator who target wealthy family's at Christmas time, and sues clients for work done under trespass whom he's already charged $65,000 over the estimate without a single work change order - who paid that overage without question. The only item we wouldn't pay for was flammable planter done under trespass on neighbor's property. For that, Bob Duarte is suing 80 year olds with dementia and cancer in the immediate wake of the Palisades Fire. National Greens charges an illegal 70% deposit and many other CSLB violations that objectively show he has no respect for the justice system or rule of law in the United States. I post this review to protect the vulnerable residents in hazard zones from the targeted torment we've endured for over a year.

But what's this - there's another that still comes up to LA? Yes! Business has expanded, so there's a separate crew that makes it up here. Pipe repair and closing off a spigot was no problem. No, just by turning off and on the sprinkler valves it solved the issue (and I learned how to do it, too). You get so much value for their work, and (if it's of interest to you) an education as well. I highly suggest the Dr. and his crew for your sprinkler installation and repair.

I won't give the exact pricing, but Elmer's was reasonable while others simply don't respond or some ridiculous quotes (heard others talk about how some companies on Yelps are just preying on older folks to land their ridiculous quotes). The work was good (I can't really comment much, but jt was fixed). Elmer was cordial (but was late for about 30 minutes). Another little complaint I have is he doesn't take credit card. We had a designer develop a conceptual plan, but it did not fully address the engineering issues. When we met John Arney at Helix Landscape Construction, we knew we'd found the right person and the right company for the job. Sloping below street level, our front yard posed an interesting challenge to keep rain runoff out of our sump system as much as possible. The design incorporated the concept of a rocky swale to collect runoff, but John engineered all the details to including french drains to direct runoff into the landscape to re-charge the local water table for the signature bonsai tree and other plants envisioned in the plan. Throughout the project, John took the time to understand our aesthetic for the yard, and provided advice on so many details as it took shape. He traveled with us to rock yards and specialty nurseries to help find the perfect elements. John brought both great design ideas and the technical know-how we needed to make our vision a reality. Over the course of the two weeks he spent with us, I felt he truly became our partner in the project, which made it a pleasure to work with him and his team. As for execution, John's team was efficient, conscientious and respectful of us and our neighbors. The project was completed on time, despite discovery of a massive root system left behind from a previous tree removal, and many other tweaks to the effort made along the way. We are thrilled with the results and would recommend John for any landscape project you might have.

The crew worked extremely hard and quickly, and always cleaned up after each day. Zach came on site frequently to supervise the progress. My lawn was 90% weeds by the time I had realized that I needed professional help reclaiming what the weeds have stolen from me: my sanity and some much needed curb appeal. Guadalupe and his crew were very prompt with answering my call for help. I've learned with time that most contractors are terrible communicators; Guadalupe and Casa Verde proved to be an exception to the rule rather than the norm. He updated me each day on the progress of the project and showed up on time each day. He and his crew cleaned up every day as well. As the project sort of evolved , he was very very very accommodating towards my limited budget. He worked with what I was able to spend and even went above and beyond by planting new plants in our planters and setting up automatic watering for us. They also added stepping stones to the lawn and made everything mesh and look really good together. He also redid the drains from the planter (a previous contractor didn't do a good job with that so Guadalupe went ahead and fixed it on his own volition.) it felt like he ultimately prioritized getting a good job done over making as much money as possible. You can tell that he cares and takes pride in his work. My neighbors noticed that he and his crew were very diligent with their work too. Overall, I had such a great experience working with Casa Verde. Everything looks great!
