So, let me start this review by saying something rather somewhat unrelated, but yet still parallels with what I'm trying to get with rating the unfavourable SG Real Estate.
Rolling Stone magazine. Remember them? They reviewed albums ranging from five stars (very favourable) to one star (poor), giving the readers a reviewers opinion of that artist album to say what or what was not so great about that release. Very simple and very much like this here Yelp review rating system: Five stars that it's the shit and one star to say it's just that: shit. Well, there was a time that when a reviewer thought it wasn't worth ANY starts, the album in review could get a solitary SQUARE. This symbol represented that the album wasn't worth anything, with Rolling Stone magazine stating that this SQUARE rating meant "Worthless: records that need never (or should never) have been created. Reserved for the most bathetic bathwater." Worst of the worst you could say. And likely very harsh.
I remember reading this in some book decades ago when looking up the English band, Uriah Heep. Amazingly, nearly all of the albums reviewed of this band branded the dreaded SQUARE rating. I thought it was interesting that a band I liked so much then (and still do today, but only the David Byron years, but I'm going much too much into unrelated tangents here, but anyway...) had gotten such ratings that I couldn't fathom why they did in the first place (two albums got ONE star, that was the highest that rag gave them, so they had THAT going for them). But to some reviewer there, they must have really hated, I mean, H-A-T-E-D the mighty Heep's 'eavy music to give them a square and sparring to give them at least a star of any sort (minus the two albums).
Which brings me to SG Real Estate. Do they have anything to do with Uriah Heep? No and yes. No, SG are nothing like Uriah Heep and the real estate company is talentless of serving anything remotely functioning that helps the housing community in any way. Yes, if you are referring to the OTHER Uriah Heep, as in the Charles Dickens character who is the highly manipulating and insincerity, which SG is well known for of the latter. Any what does the Rolling Stone review rating have anything to do with all of this? Well, the fact that Rolling Stone had a SQUARE symbol to rate as something worthless with NO STARS says something strongly that myself for even giving SG Real Estate A STAR is being well to generous, when in fact SG should have that rating of NO STAR. But since Yelp doesn't offer that rating system, I have no other choice.
And why? They do not have their SHIT together, which works well for a company who is just that. When they managed our building (along with a slumlord, whose name I'll skip but begins with a 'W'), when there was any issues with the tenants that needed some attention (i.e. something needing fixing in anyone's unit), they were either slow or just downright neglectful in responding, or not responding at all, and would take forever when they did. I then had my own repair that needed attention when my bathroom fan needed repair when it started all of a sudden to get noisy and rattled (which I like to be considerate of my neighbours upstairs and not make much noise, so that HAD to be done). So I took it upon myself to make the call and take a damned chance on these fookers and see if they could be anything redeemable and useful for once. Someone eventually came and came in and took a look. Seemed like a nice(ish) fellow (I guess) and suggested that he take the malfunctioning ceiling fan with him that he'd need to look for a replacement and have the fan with him so he'd be able to find the same one to replace it with. Something along the lines that he'd have something within the next week he'd have something. The a week passed and check back the following week, and on and on and, you get the pattern here. Then, the building went on the market and was bought (by a real estate company that wasn't crappy and sleazy), and the ceiling fan in question was still AWOL and after literally DOZENS of calls was left with no responses or stated that it wasn't their responsibility to deal with the fan, let alone the dozen request that I demanded that they at least return the fan so I can deal with it myself. Nothing. Fuckers.
I FINALLY had the fan replaced with the new company (nice guys, too) who did a good job with the repairs, respecting my space by minding my cats and surroundings while working there, and working there while I wasn't there. You could say that I was able to trust them. And when they were done to encourage me to not hesitate to call upon them in case I needed anything else done in my unit. Pretty good, okay, sure, yeah, I will, thank you. Would SG even say something remotely as kind as that? Hardly at all.
So I am generous to give SG ONE STAR when the indeed deserve a SQUARE. Ugh. read more
