I rented an apartment with Myerhoff & Associates from 2020 to 2026. This was the longest I'd stayed in the same apartment my entire adult life, and if I didn't leave to move out of the country I'd still happily be renting from them in the same spot. Rent was very reasonable for a beautiful high-ceilinged 1-bed, 1-bath full of natural sunlight in the middle of uptown Oakland. We had a full-sized washer and dryer in unit, a gated parking spot, and even a small front yard with a loquat tree. Laura, Nick, Chandra and team were always friendly, supportive beyond our tenant-landlord relationship, and quick to respond to maintenance requests, which were easy to place using the online portal provided. This was by far my best experience renting in my time in the US, and I miss my former apartment already. read more

The property was safe, had laundry facilities, and management was always attentive with maintenance requests. I outgrew that apartment, but would happily rent from them again. Although there were, and since have been a few issues that needed to be addressed in my new apartment, the main issue at the time was the inoperable oven. They are streamlined, efficient, and make everything from the initial application to move-out simple and straightforward. I stayed at a Myerhoff managed property near Lake Merritt for 3 years and I highly recommend them to any renters in the East Bay. Apartment managers/landlords are real hit-or-miss in the Bay Area, but I will say the Myerhoff team is one of the best. Their managers and maintenance team were always super responsive to emails/text and fixed issues promptly. They also kept the property in top shape as well even doing preventative maintenance regularly to keep the apartments safe and clean. I moved to the bay area in the COVID-19 pandemic,and lived in one property (managed by Myerhoff and Associates, Inc.) for 2 years. he rent is also very reasonable, the building is nice, and the location is also good. Laura is very professional, friendly, and quick to respond. When I requested maintainence, basically repair staff will come soon. Although only one exception: a window had some issues in December, I waited for one month, which is understandable because it's December (holiday time). I've been living in a unit managed by Nick at Myerhoff & Associates, Inc. for about 4 1/2 years! It's time for me to move and I wanted to leave a review to reiterate what a great experience I've had with Nick and the property management here. The neighborhood this unit is in is incredibly convenient; it's close to BART and lots of great bars/restaurants. However, as with many parts of Oakland, it's in the process of gentrification so there's been a homeless problem and some concerns with neighbors. Nick has done everything possible to improve these issues: he negotiated with neighbor buildings to put up gates to improve security. Every time I've had an issue or complaint, Nick and team have been extremely responsive and helpful. They have a great team of maintenance staff and someone comes by within a few days for fixes. I even had an issue with my heater setting off the carbon monoxide detector (ack!). After 4 different repair people came buy saying it was "fixed" Nick just replaced the heater. He also lent me an industrial-strength space heater so I didn't freeze while we were trying to get the problem solved. This has been the best property management I've ever had in my life; I couldn't recommend Nick and team more highly! read more

Lived in a Myerhoff & Associates property in Oakland by Fruitvale BART and unfortunately didn't have the best experience with this leasing company. Although the move in process was fairly quick and easy, everything changed as soon as we moved in. We understand that the property management isn't responsible for the actions of their tenants, but their responses to the accusations/harassment happening in the building did not make us like we were in a safe living environment. We received death threats, constant harassment from two units on the 3rd floor (who proudly stated they couldn't be kicked out), and when we let management know they didn't seem to intervene at all. We were accused of leaving garbage in the hallways, even though there are cameras throughout the building that can prove otherwise. I will say that I did notice management has been trying to enforce more rules to this building so hopefully future tenants have a better experience. They're currently remodeling the entire building (replacing mailboxes, improving staircase, repainting hallways, and changing the carpet) which is great since these areas didn't showcase how great the units look inside. They also offer online payments for rent which is super convenient. If I didn't feel like safety was a concern I would definitely continue leasing with this company, they just haven't done much to protect tenants against other tenants who are not complying with rules. read more

Nick didn't seem to care that our building had bed-bugs and was generally unprofessional and pushy throughout the duration of my lease. I could not in good conscious recommend him to anyone. In his response below, Nick uses the phrase "we" several times, but he was the only one working for his "company" at the time I leased from him (he specifically asked me to address my rent checks to him, at his home address). He made a lot of strange requests - if you told him the washer was broken he would ask you to "check again." At one point he asked if he could use my WIFI to support his on site security camera. Managing a building IS hard, but if you need tenants to do your job maybe this is the wrong business for you. Get to the building, check the dryer yourself, or send someone. If you want a security camera, pay extra for wifi. read more

These guys are very accommodating and have very good communication. I had a very hard time finding a landlord that didn't seem like they wanted to squeeze every dollar out of me. I was very lucky that I found a property managed by Myerhoff & Associates, as they were very flexible with my move-in/move-out date, responded to any maintenance requests very quickly, and were all around warm and welcoming people. I interacted with a woman named Laura, who was my point of contact during my stay at one of their properties. She was honest about the condition of the apartment and it's location (on a main street close to an underpass), and disclosed everything that I needed to know about the property. She treated me with respect and I really appreciate that. Moving out is really hard since I would have preferred to stick with this company, but unfortunately they don't extend down to the South Bay. If you are at an open house hosted by these guys and you like the room, my advice is to take it, since you wont find more accommodating landlords. read more

My husband and I moved to California over 3 years ago. Since then, we have moved to a different apartment each year (mostly because we wanted more space). When we first moved into an apartment owned by Myerhoff & Associates, we instantly fell in love. Not only was the newly renovated apartment breathtaking, but the management (Laura) and maintenance team were very professional. They always did what they could to make our stay here pleasant and enjoyable. The owner of these apartments is also very accommodating. He allowed us to move in with our three rabbits (most apartment owners don't give rabbits, let alone any animals, a chance) even though his pet policy was limited to two pets. He also has allowed us to end our lease a month early due to my husband obtaining a new job and needing to relocate. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends who are in search for a place to live! read more

Although I believe Nick specializes in managing East Bay income properties, he made time to show us many different properties in San Francisco, connected us with a lawyer to advice with owner move in issues and tracked down disclosures. He attended open houses and made himself available in person and over the phone. He is not a full-time, dedicated agent in the very difficult San Francisco market.
