TCA help me manage my property, lately there had been an incident where a car drove into my backyard. Thanks to John and his relentless effort in helping us chase the insurance company while getting it repaired in time. Couldn't have done it without him.

Saj was in touch with us frequently through the application process, but once our applications were submitted, communication was less consistent. That said, we found out the next day that we were approved! At least, we thought we were. Nobody at Ukiyo had confirmed whether we have pets (we do, and didn't want to double-list them with multiple adults applying), so they had to recalculate the deposit and needed us to provide vaccination records. Once we did so, we paid the deposit and went to bed, feeling like the next day we would pick up keys to our next home. Instead, we found out that the property owner doesn't allow pets, and that our entire application process was wasted. Not only are we not moving into what we thought would be our home for the next decade, but also we're having to find another option and wasted a week of time and energy. I can't claim I understand property management. That said, either the owner provided incorrect information to Ukiyo (in which case Ukiyo needs to do a better job screening owners since they "don't work with just anyone" according to their site) or Ukiyo didn't ensure that they had the correct information in their listing. Whichever is the case, the entire process has left us with a terrible impression of Ukiyo's business. It's already exhausting enough to navigate bay area housing without this kind of mess.

Sarah is incredibly knowledgeable about both home construction and the East Bay market. While touring homes, she walked us through every inch and provided assessments comparable to professional inspectors we've worked with. In the rare moments when she wasn't 100% sure about something, she brought in her husband Nick (who has decades of construction experience and now specializes in home inspections) to provide a second opinion. After only a few tours, we felt like we'd gotten a thorough education in home construction and maintenance, which we especially appreciated as first-time buyers. One of the things we appreciated most was that we never felt pressured to make an offer. Sarah proactively pointed out potential issues, including things we never would have noticed ourselves. She was completely transparent about the real costs of addressing less obvious but major problems, even when it meant we'd end up passing on a home. Sarah also has deep relationships throughout the East Bay real estate and contractor community. She connected us with great lenders, inspectors, and contractors. Her rapport with other realtors was equally valuable. Leading up to the offer deadline, Sarah maintained continuous, proactive communication with the listing agent. We truly believe her persistence and advocating for us made a huge difference in the seller choosing us despite other competitive offers. Beyond her expertise, Sarah is simply an amazing person - empathetic, fun to be around, and genuinely invested in her clients. Even after closing, she's continued to be an invaluable resource as we navigate all the questions that come with being new homeowners. We're so grateful to have met Sarah and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, trustworthy, and all-around wonderful realtor.

They agreed to meet me while I visited in June to do reconnaissance, and we had a very cordial discussion about what I was seeking, and when. When I arrived in Berkeley in late August, I had already sent them examples of homes that interested me, and we had an email/phone dialog to help adjust my expectations and focus me on areas and types of homes that made sense, given my tastes and resources. We started working together on the ground in late August, and I made an offer on a home that stood out from all others by early September. Sarah and Ellie continued to guide me through the purchase and closing process, as well as identifying issues with the property that needed to be addressed in advance. Sarah has an excellent network. What I feel stands out about Sarah and Ellie are the following: - They love what they do - They are skilled in taking in their clients' needs and preferences, and tempering that with basic realities about the Bay Area housing market, both in general, and at any particular time or set of circumstances - They have long, deep experience in the East Bay - the houses, catching areas of concern, the history of the neighborhoods, etc that they leverage in helping their clients to find appropriate homes - They are flexible - my Mom was a realtor, and I was a driver in sending them listings, asking questions, telling them I wanted to see certain properties, etc, and they went with the flow, and even enhanced my experience by being willing to look at other houses we saw for sale that looked interesting on the way to the houses we planned to see - it was not only productive, it was a lot of fun I have now been in my home for 3.5 months, and I could not be happier with where I live, thanks in large part to Sarah, Ellie, and District Homes.

We enjoyed the whole process. We then asked him to sell the same home recently in a difficult market. The service that he provided was worth every penny. We had a very short window to get the home listed. Not only did he have connections with everyone, but he was able to get everything turned around with minimal involvement from us (which was ideal because we were very busy at that moment). We ended up finding a buyer for the price we wanted and are ready to move on. We would recommend him to anyone wanting to buy or sell in the Oakland area. His passion for the city shines through.

Andy and Britnee are an amazing team that I would gladly do business with again. We met at a…read moreneighbor's open house and I was impressed with their professionalism and down-to-earth nature. I was ready to sell a few months later and they immediately got to work formulating a timeline and plan. Andy and Britnee were easy to work with and had a clear vision on improvements to be made to my property to make it more buyer-friendly, with adjustments where needed for my personal budget. Though I opted to do a number of the improvements myself, their full-service team is available to make the preparation stage totally seamless. Anthony's marketing is done extremely well, which garnered an impressive response before my property was officially listed, which helped to drive buzz and lots of potential buyers. The sale went smoothly and I got a great selling price, and the new owners got a wonderful, turn-key condo to call home! Highly recommended for a start-to-finish experience!

I used them recently when I was in a terrible jam as a landlord, needing to rent at the last minute when other agencies who said they help did not make good on their promises. BCPM responded to my crisis with calm confidence and an impressive reservoir of knowledge of the real estate market in Berkeley/Oakland/SF. They listened and took the whole situation in. I relaxed immediately: you could feel the realism and common sense from the first minute. Such a contrast to the hyped up, shark-pool norm in the Bay Area at this point! This group is the backstop everyone involved in renting in this crazy market longs for and desperately needs. For renters and landlords, I cannot recommend their services highly enough.

Emails go unanswered for weeks, phone calls are ignored, and there is little to no accountability from management. I waited over 3 weeks for responses to basic questions, while some other concerns from tenants reportedly went unanswered for over a month. The entire leasing process felt completely disorganized. Despite repeated attempts to clarify my lease status, nobody could give me a straight answer or properly handle paperwork. Everything seemed to be pushed onto the tenants themselves rather than managed professionally by the property management company. Maintenance concerns and issues with the house were also not taken seriously. There was NO effort to address problems or provide reassurance that anything would actually get fixed. Overall, the experience caused unnecessary stress, uncertainty, and frustration during an already difficult housing process. I've dealt with multiple property management companies before, and this was by far the worst experience I've had. I would strongly recommend future tenants think carefully before renting through them.
