SF Aquatic is run by true enthusiasts in the fishkeeping hobby. We are lucky to have a fish store in the East Bay that specializes in high grade Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp, especially one that maintains their livestock in such good conditions. With strikingly competitive pricing you should consider this store to be the first stop when shopping for your next aquarium or adding to an existing one. One thing to note: Hours are not accurate on map listings. To my knowledge, they close at 5 p.m. on the days they're listed as open. read more

The fish are well maintained, clean tanks. The prices are competitive. The staff, well, once you get their attention, they are very help fun and warm. For whatever reason, they don't engage with the customers unless you request it. Odd, but the fish and shrimp are healthy, I will take that over attentive customer service any day. read more

This place looks nothing like the photos I saw online. I was immediately uncomfortable walking in. The tanks are all super dirty, filled with algae & half empty. Labels are all incorrect, the ones that DO have fish are labeled with something else entirely. When you walk in, everybody ignores you, it's dark, and you get hit with a WALL of cigarette smoke. The tanks are covered in algae, the shrimp are all in giant dirty tubs in the back room, which is all empty tanks along the walls & guys packaging mail orders from the weird dirty bathtubs full of shrimp. The tubs have algae & dead fish floating in them. Am I missing something here?! Is this supposed to be an actual reputable store?! It is odd that no other reviews say this. Is it a new owner or something?! I'm utterly confused. No, I would never go back here. And nobody else was here either. read more

Totally agree with the guy that said the workers do not engage with customers unless approached. I personally do not mind asking for what I need so fine by me. The guy at the desk was super helpful and gave me suggestions for my tank issues without me making any purchase. Beautiful variety of shrimp (they specialize in shrimp). Some very exotic fish as well but that's coming from someone who doesn't know much about any fish other than the more common ones. I like that the worker suggested more "holistic" type remedies for my tank issues rather than adding chemicals. They do not sell much other than live fish/shrimp. Will be going back asap to purchase shrimp ones my tank is back to normal. One star less because some of the tanks seemed to have algae overgrowth and dead fish but I've seen dead fish at every fish store I've been to so it's not a big deal. read more

Stopped by with my daughter today and picked up 20 mix neocardinas. They are all alive and well while acclimating atm. Staff were friendly and was very helpful. They gave me 1 extra shrimp also, thank you. I would recommend this place if you are looking for shrimps, I will be coming back. read more

They sent me starved fish, almost skeletal, with red inflamed fills and crooked spines. They've refused to contact me back about this.

Came here very excited, i love shopping local fish stores compared to Petco and Pets mart. On yelp it looked big but when arrived it was very small. Noticed that there was huge space curtain with only staff area with more tanks seemed like a quarantine spot which is cool but not sooo much for a customer experience. Very little variety and huge push on shrimp. Which makes the shop look empty, don't get me wrong, I love shrimp have 3 tanks myself. 10-15min in finally someone asks if we have questions although a group of 4 people were socializing in the back. When I asked if they had goldfish as I am in the hunt for quality fancy goldfish they replied we only have these, and they point to Koi. 3 stars BECAUSE their tanks are super clean, you can tell they know how to upkeep them, and have some pride in their shop. Love that, 1 star for selection and customer experience. read more

Luke and Neil are very knowledgeable and you can tell they take care of their fish by how clear their water is and how vibrant and active their fish are. They are very friendly and let me and my wife catch and pick our own fish and shrimp. Prices are very reasonable especially for the quality they provide. Definitely will be returning for our fish and shrimp needs! read more

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable owner, with a clean and welcoming environment! Many of the fish are tropical, so the space is naturally humid but that's exactly what the fish thrive in. A must-visit if you're interested in exotic fish, shrimp, or sea snails. read more

Walnut Creek is not a place I'd expect there to be an aquarium store, but tucked in a quiet business park with ample parking, SF Aquatic is spacious and lovely. The owners are super nice and speak both English and Vietnamese. My spouse and I were offered assistance when we first walked in and got to browse in peace. Stock included flowerhorns, a variety of GloFish, angelfish, guppies, goldfish, and colorful patterned shrimp. The giant flowerhorn at the front caught my spouse's eye! One place where SF Aquatic stands out the plant selection -- each plant has a clear label unlike many other stores that either don't label their plants, or write all of the plant types on the corner of the tank, leaving you to guess which is which. They've got a good variety of plants including rarer colors and cultivars as opposed to just the usual Java ferns, anubias, etc. I had bought some sick fish the prior day at a different store and needed help. One of the men looked at the photo I took and diagnosed it as ich, and he gave me step-by-step instructions on how to set up a quarantine tank and treat the illness without upselling me on anything! He generously even offered me an airstone for my quarantine tank. I bought a bottle of ich medication for a really reasonable price and my fish are all healed up now! They don't have a lot of stock of tank equipment yet; I think I remember seeing only smaller filters and heaters. Thank you SF Aquatic! I can't wait to come again! read more

This store will be my only place to pickup fishes from now on. I got 3 discus and one flower horn from this store. All of them are very healthy. When I got the 3 discus, because I was a beginner so I did not know that I have to quarantine the fishes, I just introduced them right into the tank and luckily I did not have any issue... Thanks God, the new fishes did not carry diseases. This place has very beautiful discus I have ever seen. read more

This was the first time I purchased live animals online and was skeptical of what the outcome would be. Turns out everything went smoothly. The NeoCardia Shrimp showed up healthy and were just what I wanted. This was a test for me to see how ordering from SF Aquatics would work out. Since I was pleased with the result, I placed a new order for more shrimp this morning. read more

The selection was not as extensive as I expected for a specialty fish store. But it was definitely good. And the fish looked like they were great quality. The staff were a mix of super helpful people and those unable to speak English well enough for me to understand what they were saying. Prices are on the high side - I got a smallish discus for $60. They took 20% off for liking their Facebook page on the spot. But I still felt the prices were a little high. On the other hand, to be fair, it's a specialty store and I would expect it to be priced as such. read more

Went to find a fish for my daughter's tank. Was greeted by very friendly staff, and found what I was looking for.

Terrible experience after purchasing a fish, it died by the time I got home and they stated it was perfectly healthy. DO NOT RECOMMEND

I've repeatedly purchased shrimp from this seller on SF Aquatic's webpage and Amazon. The shrimp are always healthy and shipping is extremely fast; it only takes 2 days to arrive( I live in East Texas). The owner- Luan Le is very enthusiastic and dedicated to assisting his customers. I will definitely stop by when I have a chance to visit California. Despite being a new business, I bet SF Aquatic can be a great competitor to Flip Aquatic, SoShrimp, and Shrimpy business in prices and quality. Big thanks to you Luan! read more

I had wrote a negative review about this company I would like to retract my review. The company reached out to me and made it right. At the time it was heated on both ends and we came to a resolution it turned out to be very insightful for both parties. I appreciate them as a company and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again despite the disagreements in the beginning. I encourage you to look at their site they are very knowledgeable in what they do. read more
