Stopped by with my daughter today and picked up 20 mix neocardinas. They are all alive and well while acclimating atm. Staff were friendly and was very helpful. Came here very excited, i love shopping local fish stores compared to Petco and Pets mart. On yelp it looked big but when arrived it was very small. Noticed that there was huge space curtain with only staff area with more tanks seemed like a quarantine spot which is cool but not sooo much for a customer experience. Very little variety and huge push on shrimp. Which makes the shop look empty, don't get me wrong, I love shrimp have 3 tanks myself. 10-15min in finally someone asks if we have questions although a group of 4 people were socializing in the back. When I asked if they had goldfish as I am in the hunt for quality fancy goldfish they replied we only have these, and they point to Koi. 3 stars BECAUSE their tanks are super clean, you can tell they know how to upkeep them, and have some pride in their shop. Love that, 1 star for selection and customer experience. read more

Luke and Neil are very knowledgeable and you can tell they take care of their fish by how clear their water is and how vibrant and active their fish are. They are very friendly and let me and my wife catch and pick our own fish and shrimp. Prices are very reasonable especially for the quality they provide. Walnut Creek is not a place I'd expect there to be an aquarium store, but tucked in a quiet business park with ample parking, SF Aquatic is spacious and lovely. The owners are super nice and speak both English and Vietnamese. My spouse and I were offered assistance when we first walked in and got to browse in peace. Stock included flowerhorns, a variety of GloFish, angelfish, guppies, goldfish, and colorful patterned shrimp. The giant flowerhorn at the front caught my spouse's eye! One place where SF Aquatic stands out the plant selection -- each plant has a clear label unlike many other stores that either don't label their plants, or write all of the plant types on the corner of the tank, leaving you to guess which is which. They've got a good variety of plants including rarer colors and cultivars as opposed to just the usual Java ferns, anubias, etc. I had bought some sick fish the prior day at a different store and needed help. One of the men looked at the photo I took and diagnosed it as ich, and he gave me step-by-step instructions on how to set up a quarantine tank and treat the illness without upselling me on anything! He generously even offered me an airstone for my quarantine tank. I bought a bottle of ich medication for a really reasonable price and my fish are all healed up now! They don't have a lot of stock of tank equipment yet; I think I remember seeing only smaller filters and heaters. Thank you SF Aquatic! I can't wait to come again! read more

When I got the 3 discus, because I was a beginner so I did not know that I have to quarantine the fishes, I just introduced them right into the tank and luckily I did not have any issue... The staff were a mix of super helpful people and those unable to speak English well enough for me to understand what they were saying. Prices are on the high side - I got a smallish discus for $60. They took 20% off for liking their Facebook page on the spot. But I still felt the prices were a little high.
