DO NOT USE! I'm not sure if this is a registered business (with State/County), as I could not find any information with the Secretary of State. Steve Woodbury is the owner/technician and quotes one price via the phone and gives another price when he's finished. He is rude and unprofessional, often accuses the consumer of "breaking" or "doing" something. Yes, he works fast; yes, he comes to one's home; however, he oils, oils, oils, leaving puddles of oil in the bottom of the machine. IF you contact him after he "serviced" a machine, he WILL NOT return. I have asked for my money back and I have gotten no response. I had three machines to get repaired / checked over. My wife's old Brother, and two other machines she got from a fellow parishioner -- a White and a four-spooled surger. Steve admitted he doesn't do full repairs on surgers, but he at least did a little cleaning an oiling. The other two he gave the full work up, scraping off years of gunk that had built-up inside, and repairing the timing on both which had caused interior parts to collide. On top of that, he gave a mini sewing class to my daughter (20) who's always been a little gun-shy about sewing machines since she was little. He showed her the tension settings, stitch width, and how smooth the machine SHOULD work in proper order. He also showed us both how to do general upkeep by using a can of compressed air and some machine oil every few months. As others have stated, there just aren't repair techs like Steve around any more. This isn't some random guy who "went to a class" to learn how to repair machines. His skill, experience, and speed was clearly evident. He swooped in, did what needed to be done, and was gone like Harry Tuttle in "Brazil". NEVER MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! Awful customer service. An incredibly rude employee came to my house and told me the machine couldn't be fixed and I might as well get a new one. Clearly this wasn't true because I was able to easily get it fixed with a different company. Rudely picked a fight with me over nothing and stormed out angrily even after I tried apologizing, which I regret because he didn't deserve an apology. The proprietor answered quickly, and was extremely knowledgable. I didn't know exactly what was wrong with my Kenmore machine, but he detected the problem immediately and then showed me what had gone wrong. He fixed it extremely efficiently. As a bonus, he showed me how to rethread the machine correctly and use the bobbin winder, which I didn't know how to do. The repairs came to about $150, which is a reasonable price. My mom is a professional quilter, and every time she has to get her machine repaired, that's what it costs. If you expect to pay less than a hundred for specialist repair, that's just silly. read more

I have a 1972 Kenmore sewing machine. Steve the repairman came to my home within a few hours, and he had all of the parts that he needed to fix the machine, which he promptly did. Now the machine works great! And he charged me what I thought was more than reasonable for the repair. Lastly, Steve was extremely friendly to me and my wife. He even brought his wife to talk to my wife. She was very nice also (dare I say attractive too.) I had some issues with my weaver sewing machine and the gentleman that came to look at it was very helpful and managed to address the issues I was having very quickly. After a quick tune up and oiling as well as going over and triple checking the stitching I was back in business in about 40 minutes. Anybody can be rude, but to overcharge me, not fixing the problem, causing me to return TWICE to his 'sewing repair business' which is in the basement of his house, to be yelled at the way I was, I can only feel sorry for this man. I was about to go back again to have him fix what he never fixed the first time, he yelled at me and said he can't wait around for me, that he has things to do. Except that his website says he is open till 9p.m. Paid $120 ( only takes cash, so run to nearest ATM first) for rude behavior and inconvenience. Machine still broken. Had Steve out to service 2 machines. One old Kenmore and a Brother that I picked up at a garage sale for cheap. Steve was very knowledgeable and fast. He allowed me to video the whole process while he explained everything he was doing and how I should maintain the machines in the future. Steve has really treated me well. He came to my home the same day I called. I had 2 machines with broken parts - neither one could be used at all. He fixed, cleaned and adjusted both machines and cleaned and adjusted my sister's machine and talked to me about all three machines and gave me an idea of how much an antique machine I have is worth. He was here less than 2 hours and left all the machines in perfect running condition. I went to him when my son-in-law wanted to buy a machine for my daughter and he sold us a "work-horse" machine for a really great price. My Janome embroidery machine "threw a rod" IDK. I think the auto-threader was bent and it got caught up, a needle broke, pieces fell down into the machine. I removed the plate . . meh I really did not know what I was doing. So went in search of repair options. I was super, super, excited to see a mobile repair business in my area. I call, early on a Saturday, owner answered, but could tell right away he was annoyed. Long story short he said he was too busy and would continue to be busy, call another guy. He serviced all of them quickly and professionally. I knew there were repairs needed (not just service) on two, and he showed me what the issues were, quoted the extra cost, had the parts on hand! (He had asked me to text a photo of each machine the day before he came so he could be prepared with parts, which I thought was genius!) Steve came over on New Year's Eve to fix my machine. It turned out to be quite a bit more expensive than the original 29.95 fee (this just gets him to your house) and the next quoted fee of (60-some odd dollars) and landed at $140. So, that part was not awesome. I would use him again, however for a few reasons: -He fixed my machine really well -He explained everything he fixed (most I didn't understand - but I guess not the point?) -Asked for paper towels to keep from getting my table oily -Described how it broke in the first place, which will help me take better care of it in the future -He explained lots of OTHER helpful things about my machine and it's care such as: How to routinely take care of it's guts, which buttons to press or NOT press, and pointed out a few other helpful tid-bits. So, he was expensive, for sure. Well, I really have no idea how much this would have costed elsewhere. I didn't like the change in price - although I was prepared for more than 30. All-in-all I feel like he did a good job and my experience was positive. I'd use him again. read more

I called to inquire about my machine getting fixed and the man who answered the phone was very rude and apparently didn't have time to even listen to me. I explained my situation and how my dad had TRIED to fix the machine, we thought that it was fixed but learned it was not so I wanted to get a professional to look at it. The guy was very rude in saying "Your dad didn't know what he was doing!" Which was uncalled for. He asked me to send pics of the machine, however I didn't know if he wanted a pic of just what machine it was or a picture of the problem. When I called the next day (giving him another chance) he was still very rude and short with me saying he's extremely busy, which I get, however I am still a potential customer and wanted clarification on what type of pictures he needed. He was talking over me and cut me off saying "Goodbye!" I would not recommend this company if they were the only one who existed. That was uncalled for and he should be more professional even if he is busy. I am a business owner as well and understand what busy is but I also take time for customers. Me calling him for clarification of what he needs to not waste his time was only going to take at the most two minutes. read more

When I call the Sewing Machine Repair, the man that answered the phone was completely disrespectful. There was so much background noise I could hardly hear him, which I shared with him. When I explained that my handwheel would not turn, he quickly said they he could come to my home this morning, which I agreed to. I asked if he would be wearing PPE, like a mask. He loudly and gruffly shot back that he does not wear a mask or gloves (this is April 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic) and he thinks its a 'crap shoot'. After a pause, I then asked he's feeling ok and well to come over to my home. He yelled, "I have an upset stomach and diarrhea. What the hell kind of question is that to ask someone like that. I have been sewing since I was a little girl. I was having trouble with my husqvarna, and called sewing machine repair and he came to my house May 1, 2020. The biggest issue with my sewing machine was that it was doing tiny, uneven stitches when I do edgestitching or narrow or rolled hems. (I have never had a machine behave this way before.) First of all, he does not wear a mask. He then looked at my machine, took apart a few things, and he said that the timing was off, and 20 mins later said that the charge was 150$. He only takes checks or cash. No credit cards. There was no quote before he did the repair. So I have been sewing, and still having difficulty with edgestitching and narrow hems, but not as much as before. Then last week I was making a pair of shorts for my husband. When I was doing the edge/topstitching along the pocket, my machine did the same things. Tiny, irregular stitches. So I called this guy back. I explained to him that he had worked on my machine in May, but I was having trouble again with it. (This is August 2020). He asked me over that phone if I had tried to rethread the machine, and check my tension setting. After I did that, I called him back and said that it was still doing the same thing. I took my machine to him, and went down in his basement where he could look at it. I showed him the problem with the stitching, and showed him the shorts where I was having the problem. I said that it happens when I am edgestitching and using my rolled hem foot for my machine. He said that he didn't know what that was, he doesn't sew. So he did some stitches (just straight stitched down the middle of a piece of fabric.) He said that is a perfect stitch and that the machine sews fine. He tightened the tension setting from where I had it, and adjusted the presser foot pressure. Then he put a drop of oil in the bobbin carriage and said that my machine was fine. And that I was lucky that I didn't have to pay a trip charge since I brought the machine to him. Now I am trying to edgestitch along the edges of masks and my machine barely moves the fabric through the machine. I am going to have to take my machine to the Viking store. Don't waste your time with this guy. read more

My sewing machine died while I was sewing masks, and I assumed that, if I could even find a repair shop open during the coronavirus lockdown that my machine would be there for a week or more. Yes, he only charges $29.95 to come to your home, but that's just the in-the-door fee. He DID NOT fix my machine, yet charged me $110 for a 15-minute visit. If I could give this company no stars I would. I had them come out for a "cleaning and adjustment for 29.95" that they offer in the local papers. When I called and asked about the deal he did not mention an extra fee to come to my house (this is how he does all repairs according to him) when asked about an extra fee before scheduling. He came, I paid him the extra anyway. He did a nice job on the repair and charged me way too much for it. My first mistake. He then offered to take my old machine back and work on it for me. I asked him to clean it up and rewire the foot pedal and any other repairs that need done. He brought it back to my house with no prior warning, demanded payment and left with my check. I picked up the machine to check it and it was still very dusty, the wiring was not done. I called him to ask why he would do this to a customer. I contacted him by his cell phone listed on my caller ID (that he called me from) not the Central Sewing to inquire what he did to the machine. He claimed he knew no person named Steve and he hadn't been to my house. I was so livid I hung up. Then he called back from a number listed as Central Sewing still claiming I had the wrong business.I withdrew payment thinking everything was a scam. He repeatedly called me from the Central Sewing number for 30 minutes straight as I would not pick up the phone. Do business with this person at your own risk. He has tried to contact me since on not so nice terms. This man has no idea what good customer service is and believes the world owes him for something. My personal experience was not worth the hassle I received from this company, at all. I doubt yours will either. read more

Central sewing Repair was wonderful. I had a sewing emergency with A sewing machine that was totally out of whack and a deadline for the project I was working on. He came to my home within the hour and did a wonderful job repairing my machine. He then checked all four of my machines and now they're all running and top notch form. And it was a weekend! This guy was horrible! He came out and acted like he did a bunch and charged me $160. After he left it wasn't working right and the automatic threader wouldn't line up right to work. When I called him back a couple days later to let him know that something wasn't right he tried to tell me that he told me that there was a part he didn't have. Totally dishonest!!! Regarding the automatic threader he said, "No one uses those anymore," and he still didn't get it to work. One month later I took it to JoAnn's to get fixed since it still wasn't right and they cleaned out a bunch of stuff (they said he didn't clean it out well at all) and fixed it the proper way. Now it works wonderfully (even the automatic threader). They only charged $135. Do NOT call this guy...he doesn't know what he is doing! What a disappointment! read more

I will go farther than others have said. Steve did not properly clean and oil my sewing machine. He over oils everything so much your machine will drip oil out the bottom. He missed many spots shown in my manual. He also sprays WD40 on areas that are not to be oiled and especially with a product like WD40. His mechanical skills and tool selection leave a lot to be desired. He tried to adjust an item without loosening the set screw and tore up the head. Unfortunately, in my opinion, his reputation does not precede him or I would never had hired him. BEWARE. In my case he overcharged, did not give a proper receipt with breakdown of parts, labor sales tax etc. and removed a part and took it with him saying I did not need it and as it turned out sold me back my own part. YES! Buy a manual or watch some videos on youtube about your machine and you can do a better job easily. These are my opinions. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! I was referred here through Angie's list and it led me to a sewing repair company that was a complete hoax!! I paid a man from Central Sewing to come out to my house and repair my machine. I made the mistake of leaving my belongings unattended with the repairman and when he was done he claimed to have both cleaned and replaced multiple parts. After all of the costs of the service fee, new parts, and cleaning, my bill was $150 dollars. Though the initial problem did not get resolved because it turned out to be electrical I paid the man out of respect for his time and efforts. The next day I got a second opinion because the whole situation seemed a little strange and frantic. When I called a credible licensed Singer Sewing company they immediately believed I was scammed. I brought my machine in and it turns out not only were my parts not new, but the machine wasn't even cleaned!!! The singer center that helped me out said many of their clients have been taken advantage by the Central Sewing Company and they have been doing this for years!!! Ultimately I called the man back and he sounded like he was caught red handed. He refused to give me my money back but he had my cheque and information. So to ease my own mind I gave this crook a portion of the initial cost in cash. He returned my un-deposited cheque and said he would leave me alone... PLEASE TAKE THIS BUSINESS OFF OF YOUR SITE TO ENSURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE! read more
