Five Stars - Because They Truly Earned It…read more I recently visited Sierra Vista Complete Care for an employment physical, and what began as a frustrating situation became one of the most unexpectedly positive experiences I've had -- not just in customer service, but in human experience. When I arrived, I learned I had an outstanding bill I didn't know about. I was stressed, surprised, and admittedly irritated -- not at the staff, but at the situation itself. Even in that moment, the front-desk team handled everything with such patience and grace that it completely shifted the tone of the visit. They were calm, kind, and compassionate when they absolutely could have mirrored my frustration. Instead, they chose empathy. They chose understanding. They chose to treat me with dignity at a moment when I was overwhelmed -- and that meant more than I expected, especially since the bill was mine to take care of. I want to emphasize this because it matters: people always have a choice in how they treat others. These amazing women chose to elevate the situation instead of escalating it. That is rare, and it speaks volumes about who they are. And if any of the staff see this, I hope you take a moment to reflect on how powerful your kindness truly is. Taking those few extra seconds to treat someone gently when they're stressed or overwhelmed can change their entire day. You never really know what the person across from you -- on either side of the desk -- is going through. My sincere thanks to the incredible women at the front. What you did wasn't just good customer service -- it was good humanity. And it was deeply appreciated and will be remembered.

They do everything but say "let's be friends," yet you leave your appointment feeling that they might as well have said that, too! You may meet Reena or Ian or Dr. Vaughan himself, but you will get the same feeling from all of them- professional expertise first, with a general feeling of welcome and a listening to what you have to say. I've had two visits, and am very impressed, especially having received less than pleasant experiences elsewhere. I'm sold on these amazing people.

She left the practice recently and while I understand that people move on, I was never notified of her decision. No one let me know that I would be assigned to a new member of the team (who hasn't even started at this point). I called to have an appointment regarding something timely and was pushed out for another week and a half because of an issue with the staff. From there, they didn't even suggest the other possibilities for me to be seen sooner. I figured out ON MY OWN that I could be seen at a walk-in clinic. I needed to have some paperwork filled out but the physicians on staff cannot complete this because the person who performed my physical is no longer working there. They did try to work with me and give me an alternative but when that wouldn't work, they wanted to charge me for a second physical for the year. This is baloney, I already had a physical. It is not my fault that they are having staffing issues. I will gladfully take my medical business elsewhere. I kind of suggest you do too.

Haven't done this in 15 years. Dr. Carpio's office said the final step was to come to their office for an intake appointment. Mind you, we had NO MEDICAL NEED TO DO THIS. The three of us went and had our 8 minute "nice to meet you, quick medical background review" appointment and went home. We were billed $800 for these appointments. With a high deductible plan, that comes out of my pocket. $800 for an appointment we didn't need. SHAME ON THEM. A fee was never discussed beforehand and I never assumed there'd be a charge since we DID NOT ASK FOR OR NEED THE APPOINTMENT. Worse yet, Dr. Carpio refused to return the multiple messages i left for him to discuss the matter. I won't even go into the BS "coding" that was done to "correctly" bill the appointments. The coding referenced things that weren't even discussed in the appointment. Dr. Carpio is part of the problem. Charging/coding for things that were never discussed to justify a fee. It's not how a normal business is supposed to run but it's how we've all accepted the medical/insurance industry runs. We've since found another primary care physician and the last thing their intake person told us prior to hanging up the phone was "you do need to come in for an appointment to finalize your onboarding as new patients but LET'S WAIT UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A NEED before we do that." I will never go to SUTTER or DR. CARPIO again. Other medical groups and doctors offer the same level of service at a much more affordable price.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS I…read moremean this with no exaggeration whatsoever: I have never been so insulted, belittled, and infantilized by a medical practitioner in my entire life. This sorry excuse for a doctor does not give a rat's rear end about his patients, just their/their insurance companies' $$$. For my first appointment with him, which was the first time I was able to see a primary care doctor in a couple years, I needed a referral to a neurosurgeon for a very obvious spinal problem that I have from failed back surgery. Dr. Groan-felt here spends about 12 of our 15 minutes together going over my medication list (which I had gone over twice with the MA already) and then gives me the sorriest excuse of a physical "examination" I've ever seen, i.e. I got up on the table, was not even asked to remove my sweatshirt, and he listened to my heart/breathing for maybe 30 seconds, after which I was rudely dismissed. At the end of an appointment, especially for a new patient, I think most any doc would ask something along the lines of "do you have any other questions or concerns?". Dr. G? Not a chance. as soon as we hit the 15-minute mark on that appointment he handed me a lab form basically shooed me out and told me to come back in three weeks. Indignant, I asked if he was going to give me the referral to a neurosurgeon. He said we'd talk about it in three weeks, and when I pushed harder he condescendingly offered to write me an X-ray order, as if I didn't have X-rays, CTs, and two MRIs from the past year. Merely having the radiologist's reports for all of this was not enough, either, and he insisted he see the images himself before giving me the referral. What a petty, sad, miserable man to indulge in such schadenfreude. Oh, and after all that time spent going over my medications, my prescriptions never got sent in. It took six phone calls over seven days for his genius of a front office person to figure out she'd sent them to not just the wrong CVS, but one that had been closed for over a year. And the whole time she was convinced it was somehow my fault... Run far away; go see literally any other doctor.

We have since called and left several messages.. finally (after we called our insurance company out of concern of no contact.. they finally connected us to the office. "Rebecca" then went on to tell my wife that they would not accept patients from "out of the network" (we are Nevada county v Placer county). This was an URGENT referral from our PRIMARY DR and they waited 5 days to tell my bedridden/surgery needing wife that she needs to go back to her primary and get another referral! My wife was crying hysterically and Rebecca hung up on her! When I called back to get her information to file an official complaint, she said it wasn't necessary and that's she "might consider asking the Doctor if he would make an exception for her" if I "stopped being upset". What kind of uncompassionate gate keeper is SHE?! To base an URGENT surgery request on my attitude toward the situation? Terrible human. I will be doing everything I can to get the word out about this office, specifically "Rebecca, last name doesn't matter". **To follow up. Rebecca saw this yelp and left a scathing review about my wife and I on my wife's Patient Portal!! Stating that we need to be spoken to about our behavior before scheduling her!! I took the morning off of work, arranged childcare, and showed up on time to the appointment that you rescheduled 3 times in a week? Mmmmkay! My time is worth something too, people!
