I wanted to discuss medications for mental health struggles. When I showed up, there was bibles in the lobby and the atmosphere was just eery and unfriendly. When I was finally called back I was led to a room and there was a BLOODY CRUCIFIX on the wall. I asked if this was a religious practice and was told no and he looked at me like i was crazy for asking?? The whole thing was so weird. We sat on complete opposite ends of the room and I felt like I was a test subject being studied. I said I wanted to leave and was genuinely afraid. To this day I have no clue what this family is about, but I didn't care to uncover all that and would not recommend.

On our very first meeting, Dr. Bhukhen listened to my odd concerns in a very serious way. She carefully considered my symptoms in comparison to my medical hx. She ordered imaging that day. Within a week she found (what looked to be a) rare endocrine tumor growing happily within my right adrenal gland. This was after 5-10 years of physicians dismissing my odd cluster of symptoms as untreatable or as coincidences. After the initial (still unconfirmed) diagnosis, I could not get into see an endocrinologist for another 3 months. My insurance allowed me to be seen at Stanford. A few weeks later, I had the tumor removed by Dr. Electron Kebebew, Stanford's Head of Endocrine Surgery. By the time I was rolled into the recovery room ~ all symptoms gone! Dr. Bhukhen's initial diagnosis was confirmed. This, took place only a few months after she courageously sent me for imaging immediately following our very first appointment together. Brilliant physician. I am filled with appreciation for her gifts, and that our paths crossed. Dr. Bhukhen = my HERO!

My 2nd visit about a week later for a different medical situation was great again at the front desk. However, this time I had a different MD: a male MD. This MD examined the area of concern and suggested 2 over the counter medicines to use for the next few days. His manner of interacting with me was overly friendly, inappropriate . Although this care center is not a Kaiser center, it does accept Kaiser-covered patients. I am grateful for that. With over 35.+ years of Kaiser Medical office visits, no male MD from Kaiser has ever interacted with me in a way that felt too friendly or inappropriate. I most certainly will go back to this urgent care location; all the other personnel were great, but I will choose to see another MD.

I was assigned Dr. Roy Harris as my PCP. Although I prefer to have a female PCP, I was okay with scheduling all of my appointments with his NP Janina. She was awesome, but eventually moved out of state. I then scheduled with NP Wendy and was happy for the most part with the care I received. At around the time she retired, the practice brought a female MD on board. I thought, "Great, I can finally have a female MD as my PCP!" Her profile described her as exactly the doctor I had been waiting for. When I called the office to schedule an annual physical with her, I was told NO because Dr. Harris was my PCP. I told the scheduler that I was not comfortable with a male performing a physical and asked to change my PCP to Dr. Michelle Do. I was told that had to be "approved" by someone named Cynthia in the office and I would receive a call back later that day. While awaiting the call back (which never happened), I started reading reviews online and was appalled by the multiple negative reviews of Dr. Harris specifically. At that point, I was not just uncomfortable with having a male PCP, but with him being my PCP. It took two more calls to the office that week to ultimately be told by Cynthia that I could NOT change my PCP assignment. It did not matter to her that in 10 years, I had never had one appointment with him or that I was completely uncomfortable with him. She claimed the practice has a policy about switching doctors. When I asked for the policy via my patient portal, she admitted that there was nothing in writing. Anyone in health care knows that if it is not in writing, then it doesn't exist. She was incredibly rude and dismissive. By the end of my phone call, the scheduler Roberta and Queen Cynthia confirmed the following: If I were a brand new patient, then I could choose Dr. Do as my PCP. Because I was already a patient, I no longer had a choice. (Whichever PCP a patient starts with is who they are stuck with.) If I wanted an annual physical with a female, then I could schedule with a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. The female MD in their office was not a choice for me simply because my assigned PCP was Dr. Harris. Their supposed "policy" of not allowing patients to change their PCP is completely disrespectful. Brand new patients have a choice but established patients do not. Their website claims to "deliver personalized health care" and that their "philosophy is to provide individualized care", yet they will not allow patients to have a say in who provides their care. Horrible business model.

I was given some lidocaine shots in my muscles some muscle relaxers and they said they "don't give pain killers". If you have pain do not visit them at all. They will not help you. I'm a long term patient at Sutter. Never taking narcotics before from them. I see my pcp a few times a year with a long history with them. I was still not trusted. The doctor that helped me was kind and thoughtful, but would not support pain management. I was open to going to the hospital for observation and this was refused as well. I will be seeking a different pcp and care team. Knowing if I am ever in need I will not be helped.

This year when I changed my insurance instead of trying to get a prior off going to my last doctor, I wanted to come here where I was highly recommended to I was so scared I had anxiety I was definitely unsure and worried how it would go. Right from the start the gal at the front desk was super nice. Kind explained where I needed to sign explained what was what took copies of my ID and insurance card. The next person I dealt with was the nurse she went and got my weight asked me a lot of questions went over my medications, even though I had filled things out online she thoroughly went through things which I really applaud them for doing as sometimes we as people can forget something. I have been in chronic pain. I can't express to you how bad it has been. I have been able to get some relief from getting the procedure done that I get. I was worried that maybe the general anesthesia wouldn't work however, all of the staff listened to me made me feel better about it. Let me joke with them. I am not sure how long the entire process took but it felt like minutes and here. I am praying that how I am feeling last a while for the first time in over 7+ years. I have absolutely no back pain right now. I don't know if that'll change in the morning. I would be happy with a pain level of five even as I've been dealing with a pain level of 10 for quite some time. The doctor came and introduced himself.
