Dr. Carpio's office said the final step was to come to their office for an intake appointment. Mind you, we had NO MEDICAL NEED TO DO THIS. The three of us went and had our 8 minute "nice to meet you, quick medical background review" appointment and went home. We were billed $800 for these appointments. With a high deductible plan, that comes out of my pocket. $800 for an appointment we didn't need. SHAME ON THEM. A fee was never discussed beforehand and I never assumed there'd be a charge since we DID NOT ASK FOR OR NEED THE APPOINTMENT. Worse yet, Dr. Carpio refused to return the multiple messages i left for him to discuss the matter. I won't even go into the BS "coding" that was done to "correctly" bill the appointments. The coding referenced things that weren't even discussed in the appointment. Dr. Carpio is part of the problem. Charging/coding for things that were never discussed to justify a fee. It's not how a normal business is supposed to run but it's how we've all accepted the medical/insurance industry runs. We've since found another primary care physician and the last thing their intake person told us prior to hanging up the phone was "you do need to come in for an appointment to finalize your onboarding as new patients but LET'S WAIT UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A NEED before we do that." I will never go to SUTTER or DR. CARPIO again. Other medical groups and doctors offer the same level of service at a much more affordable price.

I needed to have some paperwork filled out but the physicians on staff cannot complete this because the person who performed my physical is no longer working there. They did try to work with me and give me an alternative but when that wouldn't work, they wanted to charge me for a second physical for the year. This is baloney, I already had a physical. When I booked my 3rd appt, they asked if I could come at 10:15. Perhaps it was my mistake, but I assumed that was for a 10:30 appt. When I arrived, the receptionist was quite rude, and said it was "10:16" and the doctor would not see me. Are you kidding? I cannot say enough great and positive things about him. Some things about the contacting the office leave so much to be desired, but I am not going to downgrade him for this. He is not responsible for this. When you call the office you actually are getting a call center. They fail at taking correct messages and passing them along to him. When you email him, he does not get them directly, someone else fields the messages. Many of my very important ones never reached him and appear unread. I even reached out via phone to Susana, the office manager to share with her this information and she never contacted me back. So, in conclusion, if you are lucky enough to be able to get in to see him, he is really top notch. The answering system/email system is a joke and they REALLY should have people with some type of medical background fielding both. I had so many balls dropped over the last few months. (I was very sick with c19 pneumonia). None of this is his fault. It's the system. It needs to be fixed.

Each member of his staff goes that extra mile to make sure everything is in place and organized before, during, and after my surgical procedure. Dr. Loidolt skill and compassion are immeasurable. What is equally important is that even after the surgical procedure, the communication continues to ensure that follow-up care remains top-notch. I came in with detailed notes, extensive prior testing, and a clear history of my symptoms. At first, I was hopeful because Sanaz seemed invested in helping me. Over time, however, that changed. At nearly every appointment, my symptoms were attributed to "stress," the blanket root cause when a doctor can't figure out what is wrong with you but doesn't want to refer you to someone more knowledgeable. When progress stalled, the recommendation was often additional expensive testing. Unfortunately, those results were rarely reviewed in meaningful detail, and I often felt I could have gotten a similar summary from AI. One of the biggest frustrations was that it took about eight months to recognize that I wasn't absorbing my transdermal hormones, even though my symptoms persisted and my lab values weren't improving. That delayed a treatment change that, should have been identified much sooner. The membership model also became frustrating. You pay a monthly fee, yet appointments with the physician are typically spaced 6-12 weeks apart, making progress feel unnecessarily slow. During appointments, it often seemed like little had been reviewed beforehand. I frequently had to remind Sanaz about previous discussions, medications, and even tests she had ordered. My final appointment was especially disappointing. Once I shared that I would not be renewing my membership, the tone of the visit changed dramatically. I felt dismissed, patronized, and was told she would not consider any of the treatment options I wanted to discuss because I only had three weeks of membership remaining. When I expressed that I felt the conversation had become unprofessional, she became downright rude and snarky. I also found it concerning when she explained that she has too many patients to keep track of everyone's care. As a patient paying a premium membership fee, I expected more personalized attention. The practice markets itself as functional, patient-centered medicine, but that was not my experience. Instead, I often felt unheard, dismissed, and left paying for an expensive membership without meaningful progress. Great sales pitch to get you signed on for a year but once you're in they don't care. I don't understand how they can feel good about what they do as medical professionals, I feel sick about the hard earned money and time I wasted there and the people I referred to them. Take your money elsewhere if you want to actually feel better, this place is no better than Sutter or Kaiser.
