I have been DYING to write this review since November 2015. So back in November 2015, I had my daughters 6 month appointment with Dr. Bradshaw in Auburn at Sutter Pediatrics. *While I love her as a doctor, her office is rude, uncaring and unprofessional.*
I have medi-cal, as does my daughter. There was a problem verifying her insurance the morning of her appointment, so they called me, told me to call her insurance and to get it established again for that day, and if not, I could self pay(first time!!). I did so, and the insurance reestablish it. I called Sutter back and told them this. THEY THEN SAID I COULD SELF PAY(second time!!). I said I would rather not, and tried to reschedule. They didn't have anything until JUNE 2016!! I said never mind, I will self pay. My daughter needs to be seen, I have concerns, I will self pay. They said okay, we will see you at your scheduled appointment later today at 2:00 pm. I asked again, and I can self pay? They said yes(third time!!).
In between this phone call, and her appointment, I received another call. It was someone else telling me about the insurance problem(clearly they had a lack of communication, whether it be between workers, or notes in the computer). I also need to add, that both of these people worked at the pediatrics office in Auburn. I told them that I had already talked to someone else and I was going to self pay(fourth time!! FOURTH!!). They said okay, we will see you at 2:00 pm today. Also, they all said the word MEDI-CAL. Okay? They knew we had it!
I get there at 2 for her appointment, and I said I'm here for so and so's appointment. They repeat it back, and ask, did you not get our phone call? You can't be seen today because her medi-cal is having problems. You will have to reschedule. We had 2 different people call you and tell you this. I said, no! You did call, you said I could self pay 4 times, and it would be $80! They said no we didn't, we were all sitting here, and we never said that. I said, yes you did. I spoke to multiple people who said I could self pay. I confirmed it multiple times, and you all said yes. I am here, my daughter needs to be seen, I have concerns and I have an appointment. I will self pay. They said, no, you can't self pay with medi-cal. I asked why? They gave me some BS answer and brushed it off. I said angrily, okay. I just drove all the way here, wasting my gas, wasting my time, to be told that I can't be seen. Thank you. You all told me I could self pay. At this point yes, I was being rude. I was angry, and frustrated and my daughter needed to be seen. Luckily my friend happened to be there for another doctor, and she pulled me out of there because I was so mad I was in tears. I just want to say, that I am NEVER rude to people like that. I NEVER get mad and lash out. I was furious.
Since then, it took me 2 months to build up the courage and calm down enough to call them. During that time my daughters insurance was active. I called and rescheduled, and all of a sudden, her insurance has problems again. I had to cancel that time, and I was polite and understanding.
It took until she was 11 months old to be seen again by a doctor, and by then she was 7 months behind on everything, she was sick multiple times and unable to be seen. She's almost a year now, and she still needs her shots, which they won't let her get until July because they're "booked" which is BS because they saw her when she had a very bad rash last second.
Now, I know this isn't entirely Sutter's fault, and medi-cal played a huge role in this issue. However, Sutter told me on multiple occasions that I could self pay. I have since found out that when you have medi-cal, you can not self pay. Now, at the time, her insurance was supposedly inactive. She technically did not have medi-cal, but they would not see her. They had no excuse, and NEGLECTED her.
As stated above, she has been seen since then, and I told them I needed a blood test for WIC. They did her shots, and told me to come back later and go to the lab to do her test because she didn't need it and shots on the same day. Totally being understanding I agreed. I came back later, and the lab said that the doctor had to sign off on it(it was Dr. K who said to come back). The doctor or MA never made a note about the lab, and so Sutter refused to let her get it done. They told me I have to wait until July, and it was required that day to be done.
Sutter Auburn is a BS office, and I hate it. They are rude to their patients, they don't communicate, they don't know the laws, and they don't care about their patients. OH! I also found out, that it is FREE to get a normal 6 month checkup through medi-cal. It's the shots that cost. Guess what she wasn't there for at her 6 month? Shots. The whole effing visit was free-.- Needless to say, I am looking for another pediatrician, because if an office is that unprofessional and untrained, then it has to be dangerous.
