We had a recent miscommunication during our daughter's appointment. Their incompetent front desk said they had trouble pulling up our insurance even though they accepted it. I stayed at the clinic to try get a hold of insurance for them but spent almost thirty minutes on the phone with no success They said I was taking too long even though this insurance issue should've been dealt with on their end before we came to our appointment. We drive out 40 minutes just to see this doctor for personal reasons. They tried turning us away and we said we can pay cash. They said it was illegal for them to take cash because we initially told them we have insurance. Long story short, we were frustrated and left the clinic. We tried calling back to get my daughter seen. They responded by saying they were no longer taking new patients. We called a few times more and kept getting the same answer. The last time we called, the receptionist said there was an issue with our insurance. I called our insurance and they said we were black listed from their clinic and cannot call back. I just wished they told us up front and discussed about what happened instead of lying and giving us the runaround. They're not organized and they might not tell you the truth. Don't come here.

I do have to mention she is not there 5 days a week but with other MD's on staff, we have never had a problem getting in when we needed to. I mean.. I tell my kids not to get sick when Dr Chen is out of the office but you know kids...they don't listen. She is quick to respond to emails, honest about issues and promotes healthy habits for kids. I was nervous, but they numbed it so I didn't feel a thing, just slight prick and pressure beforehand! And the nail bed is thankfully not infected, just slight bleeding. Doc applied an ointment, gauze and self-adhesive bandage wrap. I only have to keep it on a week, changing it out every 24 hours! He said nail will grow back in 1 year. The nurses were sweet to our fussy toddler and gave her a teddy bear to keep her entertained while mommy was busy! It doesn't hurt to ask, they had fidget spinners and blew bubbles for her as well! I'd recommend this location, great, professional doctor and staff! I love UC Davis Health, so I'll be back for routine shots, etc! SYOY! :-)
