This clinic has been seeing my son for about a year. Expect a quick check up. It seems like when their schedule is slammed, they'll rush you out. We had a recent miscommunication during our daughter's appointment. Their incompetent front desk said they had trouble pulling up our insurance even though they accepted it. I stayed at the clinic to try get a hold of insurance for them but spent almost thirty minutes on the phone with no success They said I was taking too long even though this insurance issue should've been dealt with on their end before we came to our appointment. We drive out 40 minutes just to see this doctor for personal reasons. They tried turning us away and we said we can pay cash. They said it was illegal for them to take cash because we initially told them we have insurance. Long story short, we were frustrated and left the clinic. We tried calling back to get my daughter seen. They responded by saying they were no longer taking new patients. We called a few times more and kept getting the same answer. The last time we called, the receptionist said there was an issue with our insurance. I called our insurance and they said we were black listed from their clinic and cannot call back. I just wished they told us up front and discussed about what happened instead of lying and giving us the runaround. They're not organized and they might not tell you the truth. I really like this clinic for my 4 kids. Dr. Del Mar and his staff have been always nothing but friendly and accomodating. Lobby and rooms are always clean and welcoming. I was terrified when I learned we had to switch pediatricians because of a change of insurance. I absolutely loved our last Doc and could have sworn that whoever we found to replace him would pale in comparison. Yes, this is the part where I get into the fact that I was completely WRONG and every appointment with Dr Del Mar reminds me of just HOW WRONG I was ...and of how incredibly grateful I am to have hooked up with his practice. Dr Del Mar doesn't just listen but truly soaks in and addresses concerns. I have encountered pediatricians and doctors who are adamant about talking "to" or "at" you and not speaking "with" you. Don't get me wrong, pediatricians are in a class of their own, from the many I have encountered over the last three years, the majority seem to be very warm, loving and kind. My sister is one in Southern California and she is phenomenal at what she does. I am going off on a tangent, where was I? My son has been seeing Dr Del Mar for the past 5 years. Dr Del Mar has always been kind, thoughtful and provided him with prompt care. We've had a couple of respiratory illnesses this past winter and he always took the time to listen to my sons breathing and administer breathing treatments in the office if he was wheezing. Called to see if they accept new patients for our 3 year old. Lady on phone said yes. Up until she asked about insurance. Advised her we are in the process of getting insurance but will be paying out of pocket for now. She then says," oh, we only accept patients w insurance". GOTCHA. I asked her," is it normal to turn people away for wanting to pay w cash"?? She put me hold for five damn min had the office manager get on the phone just to tell me the same damn thing. The only word to describe Dr. Del Mar is arrogant. So arrogant that he doesn't feel the need to check my daughters medical history before dismissing my request for follow-up blood work. So arrogant that when I suspected my daughter might be getting a bladder infection Monday but didn't need to bring her in until Friday that "it couldn't be a UTI. She'd have a kidney infection already." My response, "Okay, why does she cry when she pees?" He said, "You tell me." WTF? I was in the office trying to figure out why my three year old is crying when she's peeing. Im a woman. From experience as soon as I suspected she might be getting a UTI I did all the things to stop it. HE DIDNT LISTEN TO A WORD I SAID. and then told ME to tell HIM what was wrong. Turns out she had blood in her urine from a UTI. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN. The nurse practitioners were great the first couple times we went in. But this guy is a JOKE and a JERK. read more

My child was misdiagnosed with strep and given medication then assumed my other child who is baby had the same diagnoses, both were given antibiotics. More then a few days later the Dr. Calls and says my oldest is negative so they don't need to take anabiotic's anymore... ?? Ok Not only that but I tell the doctor that she has not improved totally lethargic doesn't want to get out of bed or eat for 6 days and has a steady temperature. Dr Del Mar's response was well she sick..... He Kept saying follow your instinct if you're questioning it, well that's why I was asking him he's the dr right! Then say for me to seek a second opinion or take her to the hospital, instead of being a good doctor he should of had me bring her in and do a recheck up but instead he dismissed it. We all make mistakes I get that were human but at least bring back the patient in and do a recheck up especially a child that I'm putting their life into his hands for care. I had to go to the emergency and wait for hours only to find out that my daughter had nothing close to strep and both my babies had pneumonia... My daughter had lost weight and had more of a serious problem and yet the follow up took 5 days later to let me know? Disappointment is a understatement I really like this doctors office to because of the prompt appointments and I've never had a problem with him I'm just very upset that this is the way he handles his mistakes instead of handling it correctly he takes it out on his patients. If you're putting your care into this office good luck I've been with them for more than two years and this is what I got in the end. read more

My son has been a patient of Dr. Del Mar's since he was born in September of 2010. Dr. Del Mar and his staff are amazing. I am SO grateful that we found them. Dr. Del Mar is very caring and always available. We have called in the middle of the night and had Dr. Del Mar return our calls within minutes. Our appointments are always productive and quick. Dr. Del Mar takes the time to answer any and all questions or concerns that we may have (new parents always have tons of questions). Dr. Del Mar has a wonderful personality and so does his staff. I have NEVER had such consistent high quality care from a doctor and but thankful my son does. read more

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Del Mar's since June of 2007 and my son since birth in December of 2008. Dr. Del Mar is the best physician we have ever had. He is punctual and always gets your children in the office when they are sick. He calls back immediately when urgent messages are left on his after hours voice mail. My daughter went in today and was diagnosed with strep throat and the flu by Callie, who is wonderful as well. My daughter's fever spiked to 103.4 after 5pm and I left a message at the office. Dr. Del Mar called me back within 5 minutes. He advised me on what to do and told me to call any time tonight if things worsened. I have never had such a great experience with a doctor. I won't take my kids any where else. I wish he saw adults as well! read more

We have been seeing Dr. Del Mar since early 2011, when our first was 4 months old. She had been sick with what our prior pediatrician claimed was a stomach virus for weeks. We felt dismissed and went to see Dr. Del Mar for a second opinion. He is wonderful. He listens to EVERY concern you have, no matter what. He addresses all of it. He follows up with you as well. He gave us a plan of action and asked us to let him know how she does. He called the next day to check on her and when I said she had not improved, he sent us to the hospital. Through that ordeal, he was on top of it and communicated with us and the hospital staff daily. There are so many good things I can say about him, but I will try to keep it short. 1) He totally cares, and listens to the parents. He listens to both the symptoms AND the parents' intuitions. He spends a lot of time with you, you never feel rushed. 2) He is SO knowledgeable. I trust him completely. He has seen it all. And he will explain things to you, and pass on that knowledge, to empower the parents as well. 3) He really is available night and day. I have called him at night or on a weekend, for something urgent, and he has NEVER not called me back - and always within 5 minutes. I have to believe that there was something else going on with these couple of reviews that say he doesn't return calls. That has never, ever been our experience. 4) You can get an appointment quickly, almost always same-day. And I have rarely had to wait for more than 5 minutes. He's great! And so is his NP. read more

First appointment it was a great experience. Second and third, level of service just went down the hill. The front desk lady seems to hate her life. They said I will get a phone call to remind my appointment but they never did. I got a bill for $25 for no show which is fair. But if they say you're going to call then do it. It's time to look for another doctor. read more

Dr. Del Mar is wonderful!!! My son has been seeing him since he was born. Anytime I have a question or concern about my son's health, Dr. Del Mar is always willing to help! I had to call him once really late at night...I left a message and he called me right back. He answers every question I ask him thoroughly and makes my son and I feel comfortable and welcome. Dr. Del Mar is a very good pediatrician. We take both of our kids to his practice. The kids are 6 years old and 18 months with on more on the way. We switched from only one visit from a pediatrician before they were horrible. We were a little nervous but ended up staying with him. We come all the way from Marysville about a 40 minute drive and worth it it in every way. He is not pushy with medications or extra services that aren't necessary. We can usually get in on short notice sometimes the same day but at least the next day. Well worth the time. read more

I'm so happy with Dr. Del Mar and his team. We always get in same day if one of the kids is sick. My three year old loves going to the Doctor. Dr. Del Mar talks to him and explains everything so well. I just had a premie and couldn't be happier with their care. We've had weekly weight checks and Caroline Langrall an RN that works there has been extremely informative with breastfeeding info. Both Dr Del Mar and Caroline listen to our concerns and questions and seem to genuinely care. I had thought about switching to Sutter because I have my doctor with them but we've had such amazing care I can't make the switch. Plus parking at Rainbow is a breeze compared to Sutter also little to no wait time which I can't say for Sutter. Couldn't be happier! read more

We are parents of 4 children. We are from the Bay Area and New York and we have received top notch medical treatment for our children. We moved to Rocklin and in searching for a new pediatrician, we interviewed Dr. Delmar. He was nice to talk to you and boasted about how a parent would always have him available - that you could call the after hour hotline and he would personally return every call. Well we were impressed. A month later our son was sick with rotavirus and we called to get advice because we were traveling - we left two messages and never received a call back. That definitely was not the standard that Dr. Delmar claimed for his office. I was disappointed but figured there must have been a reason. Next time another one of my sons was sick I called them at 3:30 as soon as I noticed his pink eye symptoms. I explained how no one had called me back last time. I heard back from the nurse at 4:10 and she advised us that he needed medicine and she was going to call it in. A few minutes later she called me back to say she couldn't do that because they had never seen my son at the office before. I wasn't happy but understood and asked if I could drive there - she said no that it was 4:30 now and that ALL the computers were shut down and no one could take my information. It was terrible the way this situation was handled. The nurse practitioner then turned me over to the office manager who then wasted more time explaining to me why they wouldn't help my child - this office spends more time talking than doing. After all that, i asked to speak with Dr. Delmar so that I could explain the situation in detail so he could understand where our trust was lost - I left three messages and was told by his staff that the doctor was ignoring my calls. I was astounded that a professional would behave this way. The more moms I have spoken to, the more they have confirmed his very arrogant nature and his immaturity with being wrong. I would never trust anyone who could not be open to listening to their mistakes and want to learn from them especially for the money they collect. The waiting area was old. His staff was more concerned with her fixing her eyelashes. I was looking for a good practitioner but what I found was a small town narrow minded man and his office who don't realize that people who know what medicine should be are not going to put up with this. Dr. Del Mar is by far the best Pediatrician in the Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln area. Someone who takes pride in his profession and really cares about his patients! Highly recommended if there was 10 stars on this he definitely deserves all 10!! I wish there was more Pediatricians like him. read more

My review is not based on the care or the treatment as I never made it in as a patient. Read your paperwork carefully - there is a Physician-Patient Arbitration Agreement that per their office you are required to sign or they will not see you. I called and asked if it was mandatory and they said it was so I cancelled our appointment. This agreement essentially states that when you sign it you give up your constitutional right to a jury trial in the event of malpractice (which I am not one to sue anyway - but this form left me feeling "does the provider feel he needs this protection? is his practice that bad? and is that all he is thinking about?") I am an RN and have worked in NY, MD, KY and CA and have not dealt with this and none of my friends have either. My family consists of multiple physicians and they all agreed this form is a red flag for patients and while they appreciate its purpose from where they are sitting, it is the patient that matters and they took an oath on that. I contacted a friend who deals with legal and she advised me not to sign and not to go to this provider. I am disappointed as we wanted to see Caroline - she studied at Johns Hopkins and we just moved from that area so she felt like "home" to us before we even met her. But I will not sign anything that forces me to give up a constitutional right - and technically - this would not be my right - it would be my child's. read more

We love Dr. Del Mar and Rainbow Children's Clinic!!! The first time we called for an appointment we had just moved here and had a one week old baby that needed to be seen after going home from the hospital. Dr. Del Mar was able to see us the very next day and has been our physician ever since. Dr. Del Mar is very caring and thorough at all appointments. After I had to take my 8 month old in for a sick visit he personally called us several days later to follow up and see if she was doing better! That's excellent care in our opinion. Additionally, any problems or questions that arise I have always been able to get in touch with his nurse practioner or him by calling the office. Dr. Del Mar is wonderful. We came to him when our infant twins were sick and their pediatrician at Sutter Roseville couldn't fit them in. Dr Del Mar saw us the same day and was amazing with our little ones. He called to check on them a few days later and we were hooked. I wouldn't have anyone else look after our babies. You feel like a priority when you come here and all the staff does their best to make your kids comfortable. This place is great!!!!! read more
