Basic Bitch H.

This was my second surgery with Dr. Travis Loidolt. A few weeks after my first cervical neck surgery, I had already been experiencing issues with my L4 and L5. We had anticipated that a fusion would eventually be necessary, but I was not prepared for the severity of my condition to worsen. When I began experiencing bowel and bladder problems and excruciating pain, I reached out to Dr. Loidolt. He advised me to seek immediate medical attention at the emergency room. Dr. Loidolt actively advocated for my admission, ensuring that I received prompt pain control and further testing to understand the underlying cause of my bowel and bladder issues. During my time in the hospital , I experienced significant weakness in my legs. Dr. Loidolt made daily check ins to check on my progress and ensure that I was comfortable and to ensure me he was working behind the scenes to get me answers. Additionally, I had the privilege of having one of his assistants visit me every morning to provide further support and check on my condition. This was the first time in my life that I felt truly supported and understood, rather than being judged or dismissed. Due to the unique nature of my medication requirements, I never felt the need to explain them to Dr. Loidolt or his staff. He provided comprehensive explanations of everything in great detail. Despite facing challenges from my insurance company that tried to delay my surgery, Dr. Loidolt fought tirelessly to ensure that I received the necessary treatment. An unusual tissue was detected on my MRI, and we were uncertain whether it was an infection or something else. However, Dr. Loidolt recognized its instability and advocated for the ordering of a rare test that could detect infection throughout the body. This test proved to be quite unremarkable with still no answering as to what it was. I received the news that I had to undergone a fusion of my L4 and L5 vertebrae amongst other procedures that they weren't prepared for. The surgery went on further than expected and I was so excited to work with PT and 10 hours later I was up and walking with PT.... For the first time in years no pain running down my right leg. I spent two weeks in the hospital, and I am thrilled to share the video of my first time walking without pain. While I still experience significant pain in my back, it is a testament to the healing process that is being well managed. But Dr.Loidolt you can tell he seems to take a small piece of information he didn't know before and just applies himself to the information to his next surgery. He had informed my wife that there was much more to the situation than what the MRI indicated. I know Dr. Loidolt, you do this every day. Please try to remember that every day you give someone else their life back, giving them a chance to live again, even if it means simply driving to work without the excruciating pain that makes you wish you could run over your own legs. Thank you for advocating for those who are often ignored. I know you're valued in this world. Northern California is lucky to have a spine surgeon like you in our neck of the woods. One day when I open my own big shop I will name a haircut after you and call it the TL cut and when people ask me why that name I will say it's after my surgeon who gave me back the use of my legs when I thought I was going to have to end my career. Thank you Dr.Travis and staff for all you do for everyone.

It's the season for Thanks, so this review is long overdue…read more No one wants to have a problem with your hand, wrist, or elbow. We rely so much on our limbs and we don't give them a second thought until we have an injury, illness, or problem. I found myself in quite a bad way for over two years with my left arm. I had originally been seen and diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis (aka tennis elbow) by an orthopedic doctor I had been referred to by my then-pcp at Dignity Health. After a successful but short-lived response to a cortisone shot, I had an MRI. Surgery was recommended during COVID times which was rather complex as elective surgeries weren't even being scheduled. I was told it would be an open approach with a 6-8 week recovery period and additional weeks of physical therapy. I had never had surgery before and was frankly concerned. I then sought a second opinion from a hand and elbow surgeon in LA. He recommended a PRP injection. Then my insurance stoped contracting with Dignity Health and the orthopedic doctor. I then experienced a crisis with my arm resulting in an ER visit. My new Sutter primary care doctor recommended Dr. Hankins and said he was the only hand and elbow orthopedic surgeon in the Sacramento area. I saw Dr. Hankins and felt immediately at ease. He is a man of few words and lots of knowledge and experience. He knows how to assess and examine a patient without causing more pain. He advised more shots and perhaps surgery, although he said it was an option and could not guarantee a specific outcome. I was lured by the hype job of PRP and had the treatment in LA a few months later. When it did not go according to plan, and even resulted in an ER visit (it's not called experimental without reason), I hoped Dr. Hankins would see me again. Much to my relief, Dr. Hankins scheduled the surgery at my request, and never said a word about my PRP "experiment." I was hopeful that the disabling and crippling pain and immobility I'd been dealing with for three years had a chance of improving. I was also very scared of surgery (my first!) but I felt finally it had to be done. Almost 2.5 years after my surgery I can say it was the best decision ever, and Dr. Hankins gave me my arm back. He did an arthroscopic approach which meant my recovery was much quicker and my post surgical ace bandages and sling were off in a short time. Whenever I needed follow up care or PT referrals Dr. Hankins and his excellent medical assistant were there to help. Professional and caring. I highly recommend this practice and doctor. I would hope you wouldn't have a hand or elbow condition and need surgery, but if you do, there could not be a better doctor.

My wife made an appt. with him maybe 2 weeks ago. They called today saying her appt. for tomorrow…read moremorning is canceled because he's not accepting any new patients. They didn't know this 2 weeks ago ????? Don't recommend this doctor as obviously his office staff don't know his policies and accept appts. for new patients only to cancel at the last minute.
