I wanted to update my review as it's now been 5 years since I lived in Roseville and had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. Doolittle. I am pretty old at this point but I can honestly say he was the best doctor I have ever saw in my life. I mean that. I saw him for several years and he truly was an exceptional doctor! Additional note I intended originally to include -- I had also scheduled a physical because I felt so terrible. I already had the woman's health physical. He said the woman's health (you know, the rough invasion of your lady parts) was my physical. After some argument, he reluctantly asked what I wanted done and most importantly to this update, I asked to please check my heart, especially because it has been racing and skipping. The literal 2 seconds he spent doing that begrudgingly with the stethoscope really stood out...but now that I have been seen by good doctors -- I have a heart murmer that Doolittle missed -- rushing me through telling me physicals were only for Medi-Care patients. read more

My husband, dgter, mom, S-I-L and myself, all see Dr. Doolittle. We love him! He does make you feel like family and most visits takes his time and listens. We see PAs and NPs all the time if we can't get in to see him. All his staff is great! He actually cares about his patients. I'm an RN and have seen it firsthand!! read more

Poor DIAGNOSTICIAN -- He missed diagnosed my autoimmune thyroid condition. Instead, he told me I needed a psychiatrist. I had to retire early because I could no longer work, due to his incompetence. He should have been skilled enough to just simply order that one, easy additional blood test. That would have caught it. Thank God, I went to a different doctor and today I am no longer dying. I have been a patient of Dr. Doolittle for over 20years. I love him and his nurse Anna. They are very accommodating and attentive and a friendly face. They make you feel like family. Dr. Doolittle is an excellent communicator and physician. Smart, sensitive. Committed. You can just tell. Been with him 10+ years. Very trustworthy. He and his care team are responsive and helpful in messaging through the Sutter Health My Health Online app. No issues with referrals, he's on it. He also opened my mind up to physician therapy over chiropractic. Is efficient during the brief patient appointments. You can tell he's moving quickly, but you never get the sense that he's not hearing or advising with great intent. read more

Dr. Doolittle is best doctor I've ever had. He's even managed to surpass my childhood pediatrician, Dr. Sumida, and Dr. Doolittle doesn't have a treasure box of toys and lollipops! My mother was diagnosed with a hereditary blood condition, which is also present in 2 of her 3 siblings. I had a lot of anxiety about going in to get the test to find out if it was passed on to me. Dr. Doolittle was sensitive to my concerns and he actually called me on a Sunday as soon as he got the results back. He thoroughly explained the findings and answered all of my questions with patience and understanding. This is a doctor that really goes above and beyond. My husband and I both see Dr. Doolittle and we are both very happy with him. Not sure about other people's experiences with referrals, but he's always been super quick in any referrals either one of us have had. Dr. Doolittle is my primary care physician. He also takes care of my parents. He is very kind and compassionate. He listens to my concerns and helps with coordination of care which is sometimes a nightmare, especially when I'm not feeling my best. I appreciate that he uses my health online. Sometimes when I leave an appointment and have forgotten a question he is just a quick message away. I have read a few negative reviews about not getting referrals or not being able to see other providers when he is not in office. I can only speak to my experience. I've been able to schedule appointments with Matthew Snarr and Marcia B. both are Mid Level providers who are also very good. I also have had the unfortunate experience of a rare diagnosis requiring special treatment at a Cancer Center with a Sarcoma clinic and team. Dr. Doolittle referred me to Dr. Bennett (Orthopedic Surgeon) and between the two of them I was able to get a referral to the appropriate Care for my tumors. This was much appreciated because it was a scary time for my family and I. As for his office it is a nice updated building in Roseville. The parking is on a hill. If you have any mobility needs or issues be sure to bring a wheelchair or ask for them to have one available at your appointment. They are great about this accommodation if you arrange in advance. It is also convenient for you or your driver to park down the hill in front of the entrance to PT. There is adequate parking that is flat. Also a ramp and elevator that can take you up to his level. The hall is still long so be prepared. I've been in crutches and decided unless I'm feeling adventurous it's better to bring my wheels. Aesthetically, the office is clean and pleasant. It has large windows looking out at greenery. It can get sunny, which I like. Bring sunglasses if you are sensitive. Front desk has been kind. A side note--- I always forget to bring money because they always have March of Dimes beanies for sale. (The kids spot them every time) Bottom line, I highly recommend Dr. Doolittle. Also, my grandparents see Dr. Padilla who is in the same office and they are satisfied with the care. read more

A correction on the location -- he's relocated to Roseville. I have John Doolittle for my primary care physician and he also takes care of my family. First and foremost, he's a good people person and listens to my concerns. Second, he's youthful and still interested in medicine. Third, he's UCLA-trained, board certified and keeps up with the latest. His office space is first rate -- clean, well-appointed without being over the top, and quiet. I also like the fact that he practices with a nurse practitioner for those less complex visits and, in case he's out and there's something more complex, he practices with three other physicians. The only downside is one staff member in his front office that is improperly placed. Not everyone is cut out for working with the public. Overall, this is an excellent experience and I'd recommend him. read more

Super nice guy. Seems caring. And now I unleash the beast. Wont let you make an appointment with a PA , or NP you have to see him. Getting a referral is like I don't know. My kid had an infection, I asked for a culture, and a derm referral. Instead with got new scripts couldn't see anyone else because he was out of the office for days. Would not allow us to see a PA , could not get a derm referral. I finally threw a total temper tamtrum ( YES I DID and I WOULD DO IT AGAIN my baby was hurting and that was not ok) but I got my culture and my derm referral . Also filed a grievance with the HMO . Office manager had the stones to call and question me as to why. needless to say after my tantrum I got a BEHAVIOR LETTER for losing my sh*t when my kid was getting substandard care because we have a crappy HMO. It was not until I threw a total fit that I got what I wanted and BTW my DX was RIGHT !!!! and theirs was wrong. My recommended TX was spot on and theirs WRONG !!!!!! Needless to say we switched doctors. Appears he is hung on the dollar looks to rack up those follow up visits , does not dole out referrals. But he is very kind. OH and one time he forgot about me in the patient room and left me there I fell asleep and had like a 30 min nap. GO somewhere else. Notice previous reviews are from several years ago. I loved him when I first went there. He seems like he's really concerned and listening to you. Went back recently to get to the bottom of my back pain. 3 months later still no diagnosis, several thousands of dollars later in imaging bills, never had a follow-up visit and dragging feet on a referral for kidney stones that were discovered. Can't get a doctor (or anyone at the office) on the phone. I just get a call center person who can relay my message. Sadly, the office has turned into the typical unresponsive, uncaring, slow-moving doctor's office. read more

I started seeing Dr. Doolittle when he was still in midtown Sacramento and chose to follow him when he moved to Roseville because I firmly believe I cannot find a better doctor out there for my family of five. He is always very welcoming, listens to my concerns and very patiently goes through treatment options. He is just proactive enough to get diagnosis and treatment quickly without involving unnecessary tests, and has some of the best specialists out there for referrals.
