Four-star ambience. I'm totally digging this contemporary feel. Stayed at the Seacliff Inn, part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection, and Severino is the attached restaurant. Signs called it "Sevy's Bar+Grill". Had breakfast not too early. Restaurant listed open time at 8 a.m. and I went down with my sister not too long afterwards. Only one wait staff and no hostess to greet us or seat us, so we grabbed some menus from the front and sat ourselves. Served ourselves coffee, but waiter did come by for our refills. Ordered the breakfast burrito ($13). Taste was not too bad. Couldn't say it did not meet expectations. It was pretty substantial in size, encased scrabbled eggs, tater tots and black beans. Served with a small cup of salsa. Menu said there should have been a chipotle sauce used. If there was, it was subtle. Did not have that smokey pepper taste. Also ordered plain drip coffee ($5). Starbucks drip coffee. Probably their Breakfast Blend. It was not as strong as their Pike roast. Had a couple of cups of those just to get my mind jumpstarted. Coffee is my crack. Get more staff, please. Food was good, and we still generously tipped our waiter... more because he was trying to attend to at least 7 tables all my his lonesome self until others arrived. We love coming here on the weekend when they have music. It's always a great time with great music. We usually share a plate of tater tots and get some draft beers. This is now our go to music spot in Santa Cruz. Always great people watching. Plenty of parking and friendly servers. read more

Recently Sevy's has done away with Friday Happy Hour. Apparently there is new management. They have been harassing people in the bar that show up early to enjoy the music, telling them they cannot stay. Wow, this is not any way to run a business. The music in the bar brings lots and lots of people who eat and drink and enjoy. I can't believe a manager would tell people they are not welcome. The bar has always been first come, first serve. I'm done with this place. A lot of other welcoming places to eat and have fun. read more

Busy night and all of Aptos is out of Power except Sevy's which is on a generator. So I came here for dinner and the service was good but the food was AWFUL I had the fish and chips ate 1 going to take a bite of the next one it was so rubbery tried another the same! Super oily and rubbery, paid $27 told the server but of course he didn't take anything off or discount, they said they could get the manager but I know that won't do anything or they'll try to compensate me...but with a coupon or something for next time. My husband and son wanted clam chowder and did their research and found this place while we were in town visiting. I'm glad we decided to try it. I myself had two bowls of it, don't judge me! Haha We ordered a few cocktails to start and an appetizer. A Paloma and Mai Tai. They were yummy. We ordered the calamari. It was good just like any other calamari elsewhere. It didn't disappoint. My husband had the fish tacos, I had the soup and our son had a chicken sandwich with fries. He enjoyed the sandwich but was a bit messy to eat. He wasn't a fan of the bread. He was not even given an option to substitute the bread for a different kind. I think this is almost a given at any restaurant. We all like options. I must say the clam chowder was worth every bite. My husband said he enjoyed the tacos but small portion. The location has plenty of parking and seating. We came around lunch time and I enjoyed how quiet it was. I dislike very loud music or loud people all cramped in a room. But this was not the case. It was exactly what we wanted a calm setting. Our server was nice but I felt like she lacked more personality. If it wasn't for the fish taco disappointment, my sons complaint about the bread on his sandwich and our server not very friendly this place would have been perfect! I think this place is a solid four stars; perhaps even higher than that, but since I've only had their breakfast menu I don't want to oversell the experience :-). My wife and I were looking for some place to enjoy a quiet impromptu breakfast and this was great. The menu is pretty standard new American cuisine. I had the "boardwalk breakfast" which had generous portions. She had Classic Benedict. Both were good although I think I liked my dish a bit more. Service was good: professional and attentive. Perhaps a bit rushed and preoccupied with other stuff, but I won't hold it against them. I was satisfied with the experience and I'm not much of a talker myself . I think this is also the kind of place where the location is as good (or perhaps a little better?) than the food itself. There's a beautiful koi pond which is perfect on a sunny day. What a surprise to find this restaurant as part of the Seacliff hotel. Nice outdoor patio area next to a koi pond and garden. The dining area is very comfortable and relaxing. Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout our stay. For dinner we had the grilled pork chop with a fig-apple gastrique (yum) served on a sweet potato mash. Partner enjoyed the braised short ribs with a parmesan polenta. Both were excellent meals. After dinner we strolled around the pond and garden area as the sun set. Since I'm new to the area, I am occasionally getting out and about to try new places. That goal took me to Sevy's the other night. My boyfriend picked it as he thought it might have low carb options for me to choose from. He has been going there occasionally since it has its original name. Well... The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor garden area with a waterfall and tons of plants. That was really nice. We tried to sit outside at a small table but it was a lil late in the evening and too cold. They were a bit busy and I overheard they'd just let someone go home before their rush so we waited quite a while for the waiter. No worries. We are both pretty laid back and he arrived, the waiter was friendly. So... the food? I can only comment on the Cesar Salad, Salmon, and Meatball, though. I ordered the salad with medium grilled salmon on top. It wasn't anything to return for, unfortunately. The salmon was lukewarm and more rare than medium, with nearly raw places inside. I still ate it as I don't like to send things back unless it's completely inedible. It didn't seem to have much flavor or seasoning. The Cesar Salad, while priced well, was uninspiring. I didn't think much of it until we were eating Imura's grilled salmon the next night and it was amazing. Oh well. I try not to judge a place on one visit so I may come back for the outdoor patio someday and try again. I know my mom and sister would appreciate the atmosphere. But... there are so many new places to try, though... Might see ya there. read more

I booked this reservation via Open Table for NYE - they couldn't find it, but managed to seat us. The ambiance is wonderful. This would be a romantic date night outing. The service was cordial. The food was fresh and good, but it could use more seasoning. I didn't like their dessert variation - it's not a traditional apple crisp: not sweet. The drinks were delightful and delicious. Seating was instant. Drinks took 20 minutes. 2 were sent back. Received 2 new ones 45 mins later after getting a bus boy to help us. Had to borrow salt and pepper shakers from neighboring table. Lost our waitress after ordering. Got the same busboy find her. Took 1 hour and 10 mins to get our food. 3 were the halibut specials. Totally cooked hours ahead and dried out. 2 were sent back, the 3rd was worried they would spit in her food so didn't eat it. Beef ribs were ok. Tacos tasteless. Carmen the server is the supervisor. They are in trouble with the bar, the food and the service. Would not recommend this place at all. She thought 2 deserts would make it all up. There's not much to the desert either. read more

Actually now called Sevy's Bar + Kitchen, this is the restaurant in the Seacliff Inn, a Hilton Hotel property. A great neighborhood hangout with a really good Happy Hour M-F 3-5 pm which was what we experienced our first time here. * HH Seafood Tacos -- Solid choice. Fish of the day was salmon and it was fresh and tasty. 2 good sized tacos with a side of tortilla chips and salsa. Thumbs up! * HH Carnitas Tacos -- Shredded pork was tender and flavorful. 2 good sized tacos again with a side of tortilla chips and salsa. I preferred the seafood tacos. * HH Chow Mein Salad -- Interesting blend of mushrooms, cabbage, crispy noodles and a sesame dressing. Could use a bit more white pepper spice. * HH Chicken Quesadilla -- Good portion, shredded chicken and cheese in a flour tortilla. It was alright, but could use more chipotle spice for a bit of a bam. * HH Beef Sliders -- Also quite good. Nice mini beef patties with all the fixings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions. Comes with a side of fries. Personally, a bit too much of a carb fest for my liking (but this was my hubby's pick ;) * Lunch Short Rib Grilled Cheese Sandwich -- Recommended by our server, Curtis. It was very good, tender, juicy, good flavor. Would have been even better on grilled sourdough instead of plain white bread. * HH Sevy Margarita -- Tasted a bit watered down to me. Probably wouldn't get it again * HH Tropical AF -- rum and tropical fruit cocktail. I enjoyed this one more than the Margarita. Next time, I might try one of the many local draft beers on HH. Overall, food was 3 stars. I do like that they feature locally sourced, organic and natural produce, but some preparations needed more seasoning to make it more enjoyable. I wish It was possible to leave a ZERO star review. The only reason we stayed was because the kids were starving after being in the sun all morning. First She only gave kids menus to three of the 5 kids even after requesting for more. And then after ordering our food she the pulled the menus out of our hands extremely rude and unnecessary Maybe at this place we should walk in showing our bank accounts to get the right service here not because it's a high price place but because of the racist waitress we had and probably given us a better service. Because Honestly, I believe it is because half of us are of Mexican ethnicity and me saying that is a card I rarely use and I use it with caution. My husband is such a great tipper he believes in making peoples day for really giving us great service. This waitress never came to check on us and when I asked for a refill for my husband's drink while walking by she said ok and after 35 mins of waiting my husband got up and ask for more Diet Coke at the bar. We ordered multiple appetizers and they were good. In Santa Cruz/Aptos and ordered the calamari; and it was absolutely the worst. This is the second time in a year and the first time they took it off the bill; this time it was "well that's just the way it is". That's not fair to the wait staff as this affects their tip. We have been there when they're short staffed (understand) but when they don't come back to refill drinks or check on a table; and the staff is all together at the bar area chit chatting. Great - 3 meals a day - hotel restaurant! Stayed at The SeaCliff Inn for 4 nights and ate at least one meal a day at Sevy's. For dinner our first night, I had clam chowder to start and Ravioli with Asparagus and white beans. My husband had their Brick Chicken. Both were well prepared and quite flavorful. Service was uneven as they were swamped with patrons in their bar for live music and the # of servers is limited. The F&B Manager, Steven, pitch hit and help us order dessert, Beignets w Chocolate sauce, and helped settle our bill. Over the next 3 days, we are breakfast at Sevy's each day and had lunch or a snack there. Their prosciutto wrapped asparagus was very good as was their Chicken Quesadilla and Mac and Cheese. I just got another promotion at my job yesterday so I decided to come here to celebrate. This is a well run machine of a restaurant with awesome food period! First of all kudos to their great, respectful and helpful staff. Secondly the calamari was delicious!! My fish and chips were seasoned so well and lightly without any salt and that was great! They also give you everything you need to counter like; lemon juice, ketchup, mustard and tartar sauce. They make a MEAN strawberry margarita here, and I appreciated the lemon on my cup it was a nice touch. Overall I recommend this place, is it pricey? Yes, but this is one of those places where you come to celebrate an accomplishment, and that's why I came here tonight - thank you! read more

The other reviews I am seeing for the hotel are a bit scary, but we had a great lunch experience. My husband and I picked this restaurant because on yelp it is listed as a dog friendly restaurant. And it was. We had been to the beach with our two dogs and it was a bit chilly. We wanted somewhere to eat that would be out of the wind and better than just a burger. The restaurant patio is mostly covered and had lots of heat lamps. After we ordered we could somewhat walk the dogs around the grounds, which helped them calm down when our food came. This was my first time at Sevy's and it really exceeded my expectation. Apparently, a remodel just happened and let me tell you, this place is aesthetically so very pleasing. I couldn't focus on picking out a table because I was fascinated by all the interior design. The magician behind the design, I applaud you...now please style my home. Once I got past the beautiful environment, I honed in on the menu. I always appreciate a labeled menu for those of us with lifestyle preferences and food allergies. Thank you chef / manager / owner. We shared each plate and did not explore any of the alcohol. I would love to come back for dinner one night, though. The meatballs with ricotta were wonderful and full of taste. I could've easily eaten another serving. Next we had the brussels and shishitos. In full truth, it didn't do it for me. I would've appreciated more crisp and salt to balance out the rich dressing or perhaps just less dressing. I loved the idea though. The sun rises in the east, but I rise in west. Today didn't know what it was up against; I train in the off-season, and the off-broadway season. I sang a song of gratitude, and headed to Sevy's. I was seated immediately and struck up a conversion with Caleb, who was not my waiter, but was taking care while the managers figured out their lives. He agreed that jazz-lounge covers of American metal-core and even Eurooean Black metal songs would be pretty cool. I ordered the Boardwalk breakfast and my waitress Leana asked how it was I had chosen the best item on the menu. I told her to mind her business and I would mind mine. Breakfast IS my business. Leana informed me she was a black belt in multiple styles of judo. She snapped my neck and I died happy, that she'd even been a part of my life for a brief moment. Sevy's is an excellent restaurant and I'll be back once I reincarnate. The mixture of boho-beach-chic and mid century modern decor was a perfect setting for a traditional hobo funeral. They tossed my corpse out with the trash and got ready for the lunch rush. read more

Had a late lunch at Sevy's yesterday afternoon. Sat outside with beautiful weather. My daughter & I shared a fish & chips but had a double serving of cole slaw instead of the fries. The fish was perfectly fried but the cole slaw needs some zip - I highly recommend adding celery seed! We followed with a chocolate creme brulee which was wonderful.
