We stayed at the Sea Cliff hotel in Aptos and the restaurant inside was Sevy's. We had an amazing breakfast our first day. A breakfast sandwich for me and pancakes for my husband with a side of hashbrowns for both of us. Our server, Amanda, worked the whole restaurant by herself and she did an amazing job! She served everybody with a smile even though anybody else might be overwhelmed. Day two we split a breakfast burrito that was wonderful! We enjoyed the hashbrowns with it. They were perfectly cooked and not oily or anything like that. They were made with bell pepper and onion, and they were so tasty! We again had great service with a smile. I think our server was named Teresa. I remember complimenting her on her beautiful hair and how friendly she was. Really good food and a good vibe is always a great place to eat . read more

Got to try Sevys for my first time ever on a trip to Aptos. & I have to say I was highly impressed. I went during dinner time around 5 ish & got the BLT which my incredible waiter made an exception because this is usually not an option for dinner. & they are my absolute favorite! I got the BLT with sourdough bread with avocado as an add on with a side of fries. & Sevys went above & beyond by grilling my BLT to perfection! This was also a first and also how I'll probably always order my BLTs from now on :) They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating has plenty of space, a bar area, and i believe tvs. The outdoor overlooks a beautiful koi pond with a waterfall, heaters for night time & they do allow pets to join you on the outdoor dining seating. Food is incredibly wonderful with a variety menu and accomodating prices. I definitely recommend their specials & trying out Sevys if you've never been and are vacationing the Santa Cruz/Aptos area :) read more

I used to meet friends here on a regular basis for conversation and happy hour. We liked sitting outside, and enjoying the koi pond. Now Hilton owns the hotel and restaurant, and everything has gone downhill. The kicker for me was when they eliminated my favorite cod tacos from the Happy Hour menu. So I recently tried the meatloaf sliders. Mistake! The waitress brought the 2 small sliders on an ungarnished plate, without the sauces. Also, since I don't drink alcohol, I always ordered tonic w lime, and the bartender comped it. Now it costs $3, which doesn't break the bank, but on top of the cat food pate "meatloaf", I'm done with Sevy's. We'll find somewhere else to meet. read more

I Yelped my way to this wonderful well stocked bar and kitchen during my recent business travels in the SFO Bay Area. I decided to celebrate my successful outing that landed me at the outskirts of the SFO Area and I truly enjoyed the ambiance inside this now Hilton owned establishment. The unique decor of the Sea cliffInn Aptos Tapestry Collection, by Hilton. A beautiful, quant, upscale look that matches this beach community. Victor the bartender helped me discover a great local lager beer from Monterey, CA and set me up with a top shelf shot of Mexican Tequila that set my attitude into a blessing of gratitude! His recommendation of house made tacos also were spot on! I had one salmon and two Braised Short Rib Tacos with fresh Avocado & all the fresh slaw, salsa & pickled onion toppings. I added a slice of cheesecake to go, but could not wait to eat it once I got to my car! lol! (The cheesecake was very good but not at the five star level as the rest of my evening. Thus I will just give it a 3.5 separate Star Rating) That way I can whole heartedly post my Five Star Dining experience, with my awesome beverages, delicious food and Victors stellar service! The experience was delightful from start to finish. Our waiter Caleb was amazing and the smoked salmon Benedict was delicious. Mixed review here: Ambiance 5/5 Ambiance is wonderful, its really quite lovely and large! The main dining area is a bit echo-y as it has high vaulted ceilings. Luckily there was only one other table there and it was fine. If it was warmer we would have sat outside, they do have heat lamps, but it was a bit cold and rainy. The outside has a lovely little bridge and cute landscaping! Service 2/5 We were forgotten. Only one other table in the dining room and what looked like plenty of servers and wait staff, but it took us over an hour to get any food despite having ordered a very simple starter of brussel sprouts. It was impossible to stop someone, they literally would walk right past us and we were right by the kitchen - finally I was able to get the attention of someone a sweet lady (not our server) brought our food. My dish was incorrect, but she quickly took it back to make it right. Meanwhile a table was seated at 7:15 and had their food within 15 minutes. Food - 4/5 Some things were better than others. The short rib tacos, eh - they were flavorful, but could have used more salt and were a bit dry. Also would have been easier to eat if it was a double tortilla like a street taco is typically served, the tortillas did not hold up. I will say both the short rib and fish tacos were very well filled portion wise, they were huge (hence needing two tortillas). We could only eat 2 of the 3. Brussel sprouts had a really nice flavor but they were served to us cold - so having a char-grill flavoring that's cold, not the best, but we were starving and had no desire to wait another hour for food. Halibut was delicious, served on some yummy puree. Oh and tatertots - OMG, bring me a truckload - they were crunchy and tasty and I could have eaten them all night. Value - 4.5/5 Food is more expensive, we all know it - I feel the portion sizes here are quite large and we got 2 meals out of our dinner after taking leftovers home! We will absolutely give this another shot, maybe on a day we can sit outside! I highly recommend checking out their Happy Hour menu. We came here on a Monday evening just before 6pm, and narrowly got our order in before happy hour ended. They have a great selection of small entrees like fish tacos and chicken tacos. We were so impressed by the options and the quality of the food. I had the fish tacos, which were delicious- crispy fish, nice slaw, tangy sauce. I didn't check out the regular menu, so this review just focuses on the Happy Hour menu. As a local been to Sevys quite often. The food has always been decent....i'm here to just relay that the new smashburger is a downgrade. The old Durham Ranch burger was my kids favorite and was also one of mine when we went there. The new smash burger isn't horrible...but with the thinner patties its just a bit dry and flavor was just mid. Something missing. "Justice for the Durham Ranch Burger" says my kid! read more

It's a pity this place has such terrible food, because the ambience is very nice. I had the seafood chowder. I hesitated because it had bacon, and I was right. All I could taste was bacon. The taste and scent of bacon marked the delicate seafood. I drank a lot of water and took breath mints to get rid of the smell. Finally I decided ti get a dessert, the apple crumble, which is the best dessert according to the waitress. It was awful, so heavy and way too sweet-- who can eat that? I ended up choking back my own gagging, the food was so heavy it made me nauseous. This was my second time coming to this place in four years, and the first time I had similar feedback. So, this is not a place I'll visit again. Service was also not great. Server was nice, but took a long time to serve and seemed to forget me. Never asked how I liked the chowder that I was hesitant to try, never asked what I thought of the dessert that she recommended. I asked where the dessert was made and she did not know, said she would find out and tell me and never did. It seemed like the server was not completely "with it"... then again that's beginning to seem like a pattern in this county. read more

My daughter had a to settle for a pantry meal. Our takeout order had a missing main entree, which was the only item she could eat as the rest of the family ordered different items (salads & vegetarian meals). I was very disappointed as this isn't a fast food or casual eats joint where sometimes a missing item is understandable due to high volume and high variety. This is a $$$-priced restaurant where entrees cost $32 to $48 each, and where each entree comes in it's own dedicated takeout container (so it should be easy to verify each order for completeness). Plus, we tipped based on the original amount. Not leaving this a 1-star only because the food we did receive was actually good, but we encountered the same poor service & reputation that other reviewers have mentioned. Add my 2-star review to the list of undelighted customers. Not sure whether we will give Sevy's our future business. read more

I've been coming here for quite a while now as someone who lives in Soquel and try to be very understanding when it comes to food service considering I've worked in the industry since I was about 13. The beginning of our meal was wonderful and our server was very kind at first. When we received our food I was made aware that I they did not have a sauce that was needed for the dish I ordered even though I had asked specifically prior to ordering. This was no big deal and I decided to eat anyways but I found my fish and chips to be soggy and wet and my boyfriend's steak was substantially over cooked. Again no problem, nothing a quick fix won't handle. Unfortunately instead of being met with understanding (especially considering she didn't cook the meal) we waited 26 minutes for any sort of service and when we did receive it we were given the most condescending answer and tone I've ever received at a restaurant in my life. In no way did we blame her or seem upset yet she decided to take it personal. After that she refused to take the 50$ steak that was horribly overcooked off our meal to the point we had to ask for a manager! I have never in my life talked to a manager, asked for one, or even sent a plate back due to the fact that I am usually the one on the other end of things. I had to go sit in the car because we had been waiting so long and my boyfriend ended up talking to the manager who was understanding and I am grateful for. But Erica (the server) you not only have made your place of work loose reoccurring customers but you've also lost the hotel all the buisness of our family and friends who used to exclusively book with the Seacliff inn when coming to Santa Cruz. All in all I'm less mad about my meal and more upset I lost my favorite lunch spot. read more

The standout was Hannah our server. 10/10 and made sure we had everything and more with a smile. Group meeting event, so we didn't really care about price. The breakfast highlights are the French toast, and potatoes. Didn't care for the Benedict as there was no sauce, and the poached eggs were overcooked. Lunch highlights were the French fries, cob salad, chicken tinga tacos. We also had one drink about 5pm and the waiter was quite pleasant. It was nice to sit outside , and they did have heaters. This place is aesthetically really appealing but doesn't deliver on the promise that meets the eye. I came here with a handful of coworkers for a casual breakfast. We were greeted fairly quickly and the service was friendly and efficient. So, I give stars for that part. The ambience here is upscale but casual. The bar area and surrounding seating is really attractive and there seems to be a good amount of attention to detail going into decor. The seats themselves aren't the most comfortable but they're not bad either. 4 out of 5 stars. The menu highlights that the restaurant "proudly showcases California central coast" and partners with regional farms. I'm always happy supporting "local" so this place gets another gold star from me. 5/5. The disappointing part of my visit is unfortunately related to the food itself. Effort goes into the presentation of the dish but it feels clumsy and unnecessary. My breakfast burrito was cut in half and presented with a small side of the salsa. The salsa lacked any real flavor and more closely resembled a tomato purée than a real salsa. I don't always need my salsa to be spicy but I couldn't pick up on onion, salt, lime, or garlic which would have elevated it beyond what was presented. Was the burrito "bad" per se? No. Was it good? Also; no. I have a pet peeve with pre-cutting my burritos. It would've been nice to have been asked if I wanted the burrito cut because, once it's sliced open, things tend to spill out and get messy. I'm able to look past that though as I'm sure this doesn't bother some people and it's likely just one of my idiosyncrasies. The real disappointment was how runny the eggs seemed to be and how underdone the potatoes and veggies were. Part of the potatoes were still translucent, signaling that they were most definitely underdone. The bell peppers are fine raw but if they were roasted, that would have elevated the flavor of this burrito. The chipotle Crema is oddly sweet. So as I bite into my burrito, I was met with overly gooey ingredients and a sweet-ish aftertaste. I tried draining the burrito in the salsa, but this just added a tomato flavor to the burrito and little to no spice to help balance things out. I can truly only give this burrito one out of five stars and the food is without question, the most important part of any restaurant. The "boardwalk breakfast" plates my companions ordered, looked better prepared and I regret not following suit and ordering that with them. A couple of things could have also been done better in terms of the breakfast selection. Include a slice of toast with the boardwalk breakfast. There are so many great bakeries in the area that I'm sure it would be easy to find a partner that could find a great accompaniment to this dish. We ordered some toast on the side but it was far too much bread for a "side". Rather than charging $5 for a stack of toast, it would be nice to offer a single piece of toast as an add-on. Some items allow additional ingredients to be added for a dollar each and this should be a no-brainer. Overall, I'm struggling with rating this spot between a two or a three. I wish 2.5 stars was an option but because so many of the food issues are easily fixable, we'll round up to a 3. I'm not sure if I'll be back for the breakfast again because there are some fantastic local spots nearby that offer more for less. Hopefully, my experience was just a one off and others enjoy their meals more. read more

Great restaurant and conveniently located at our hotel. They had a live band that was amazing! Food came out quickly and it was good. Except the rice my husband had, it was mushy... my clam chowder was good and I loved the bread. My daughter's fettuccine wasn't as flavorful as she likes it she had to ask for extra sauce and salt. Our server was so kind. She made sure we had our drinks refilled without asking and came and checked on us a couple of times. I felt bad for having to repeat our orders though because the music was loud. But overall great time. We would definitely come back to try another menu item or even just to hear the band. read more

We are staying here at the Seacliff Inn for a few days and enjoyed our late lunch. It was relaxing to sit outside by the koi pond. I had a Tropical AF cocktail and we had the Brussels/shishitos, roasted garlic/brie plate, and clam chowder. The Brussels/shishitos were actually a large dish in a sauce that made it feel more like a vegetarian entree than a small plate, though very tasty. Texture-wise I would have preferred it a little more dry- but that's my preference for an appetizer. My son said the clam chowder was good. I loved the garlic/brie plate. Cocktail was good. We were told to seat ourselves but it took awhile for someone to give us a menu. Finally someone from the bar came and after that service was great! read more

We had lunch at Sevy's (formerly Severino's) recently and it was fantastic. Of course we had to sit on the edge of the koi pond, and between two heaters because it was chilly. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted by Victor, our waiter. The coffees (nice and strong) and waters came immediately, and he got us started on our meals with calamari. We also had the housemade potato chips with french onion dip (yummy), smoked fish chowder, chicken wings with a variety of dips. Not only was the food fresh and excellent, but Victor is a really attentive waiter with a great personality. All in all, the lunch was delicious and the experience wonderful. read more

Clam chowder was mid way too much bacon ruined the flavor, salad was good my kids pasta had way to much butter but the actual pasta was good, espresso martini had way to much vodka you could even taste it. We ordered the halibut, which turned out to be a small, dry, overcooked piece of fish with a bit of sauce--no sides or garnish, and we had to specifically ask for lemon just to make it palatable. Service didn't improve over the course of the meal; our server didn't check on us until dessert. We ordered two crème brûlées knowing we wouldn't have time to stop elsewhere before our show at the Cabrillo Theatre. Only one arrived, and by then we didn't have time to sort it out. It feels like you're in a tropical garden complete with lush greenery & a mini river. We opted to dine in because of the heat wave. The Braised Beef Grilled Cheese was a great combination of tender beef & cheese. It was not greasy at all. The pasta primavera was al dente with fresh veggies. What a lovely place for brunch! It had great ambience, and had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating had heat lamps, and was near a little Koi pond, giving a beautiful oasis feeling. The indoors had both high top tables and regular chairs. The tables and chairs were movable, and also had a booth on one side of certain tables. The staff was really friendly and prompt, both times we've been there, and there weren't many people. The food was super delicious! It is attached to a hotel, so there's plenty of parking out front. It's in an area where there's lots of things like grocery stores, other restaurants, and fun, ice cream shops, and even down the road a beautiful beach. We've only been there for brunch so far, but really like the place! read more

Signs called it "Sevy's Bar+Grill". Had breakfast not too early. Restaurant listed open time at 8 a.m. and I went down with my sister not too long afterwards. Only one wait staff and no hostess to greet us or seat us, so we grabbed some menus from the front and sat ourselves. Served ourselves coffee, but waiter did come by for our refills. Ordered the breakfast burrito ($13). Taste was not too bad. Couldn't say it did not meet expectations. It was pretty substantial in size, encased scrabbled eggs, tater tots and black beans. Served with a small cup of salsa. Menu said there should have been a chipotle sauce used. If there was, it was subtle. Did not have that smokey pepper taste. Also ordered plain drip coffee ($5). Starbucks drip coffee. Probably their Breakfast Blend. It was not as strong as their Pike roast. Had a couple of cups of those just to get my mind jumpstarted. Coffee is my crack. Get more staff, please. Food was good, and we still generously tipped our waiter... more because he was trying to attend to at least 7 tables all my his lonesome self until others arrived.
