What a treat! We had dinner here last Saturday evening and we could not be more pleased with the dinners, servers and quaint decor. We have dined so very many places in Santa Cruz but have never had such attentive service and an exceptional meal. Everything was just perfect from start to finish. We had the charcuterie for appetizers. And then we ordered the Ravioli as well as the Steak and Lobster. Scopazzi's has both excellent food and service. read more

Came here with my family for a nicer dinner on a Saturday evening and there was plenty of seating. We sat outside on the patio because we brought our dog, which they very kindly accommodated. They were happy to give us a water bowl for him. Great service, very friendly servers! The actual interior of the restaurant is very much a snapshot of an older era of Boulder Creek - the inside gives a dark, antique, museum-like ambiance with lovely live piano. The bar area especially looked inviting. I got the Calamari Steak and had it with the salad. The calamari was grilled well and cut easy, and the flavor was rather plain but texture was great, which I prioritize in calamari because overcooking it can cause it to be like rubber. The vegetables felt very fresh as well. They gave my mother the incorrect dish, but when they realized this, they immediately went to make her the pasta that she originally ordered without hesitation and left her with the accidental salmon dish she was served as well. Atmosphere is really interesting. Not sure if there's certain lore to the building but it almost felt like a converted house. The interior was also really cool. Liked the bathrooms. Lighting was definitely dark (everywhere except the bathroom) but that wasn't necessarily bad (at least during the day). Garlic bread was pretty good. Not sure if it was worth the money tho. Got a salad. It was kinda weird ngl. A lot of pickled veggies for some reason (in a Cobb)... I don't think that's normal and I will admit, I did not love it. Kinda made it fun. Something different. Server was nice. Not sure how busy the rest of the restaurant was. read more

So disappointed. I've been coming here over 30 years and it's lost its way. It was a slow night and service was very sporadic. I had to send my food back as it arrived cold. The food has taken a nose dive. Used to be more authentic Italian now very generic and overpriced I hate to write this review but unfortunately will not be coming back. read more

Incredible ambience, delicious food, excellent service. I've been going to Scopazzi's for decades. It never disappoints. This is formal dining in Boulder Creek, so please dress accordingly; no shorts or tank tops. The atmosphere is relaxed, but it is a sophisticated upscale resturant. I had lunch here today and was thrilled to hear that Scops is now serving brunch everyday! I ordered scrambled eggs with sausage, the plate included fresh fruit, potatoes, toast, and a lemon poppyseed muffin. Everything was delicious! The eggs were creamy and perfectly cooked, the potatoes were crispy and tender, the fruit was ripe and sweet, and the muffin was a tasty bonus. As always, the service was great. Niko was friendly and attentive. The kitchen was quick, they always get our food out in time for us to get back to work. read more

What a great lunch today! We went for lunch, a work lunch. They were only serving the brunch menu. Our waitress was so awesome! We had our hearts set on the lunch menu. I wanted the ricotta cheese ravioli with a gorgonzola cream sauce and she wanted the linguine and clams. So the waitress said, "it's not really busy in here right now, I'll ask the chef if he can make those dishes for you today" and he did! So accommodating! And it was sooo delicious! Thanks for the really great meals today! Only my second time there ever, and will definitely be going back. For drinks next time also! read more

I decided to give Scopazzi's another chance, after a few years of not going there due to a drop in quality of the food. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and was very disappointed with it. The Marinara sauce was boring, pedestrian and tasted like it was taken right out of a can and pored on the eggplant. Actually most canned sauces usually have some Italian spices in them which I couldn't taste. The eggplant was not breaded and undercooked. Overall one of the worst I've eaten, so when asked how I was enjoying it, I told the waitress and she exchanged it for a cob salad. Kudos to her for that. read more

One of the nicest classic dining rooms in the Bay Area. Redwood paneling, river rock fireplace. Open beams. Beautiful The food is 1960s Italian grill. Steak. Fish. Pasta. My husband took me here for Valentine's Day dinner and it was great! The ambiance reminds me of old school Italy. My family is Italian and it reminded me of my Grandpa's house and his cooking. And even thought it was Valentine's Day and super busy, the service was awesome. Scopazzi's is a little hidden gem in the Bay Area. We will be back! read more

When you find yourself in the deep woods above Santa Cruz, this is the restaurant for you. The food was solid but you're really going for the memorable atmosphere & ambience. Feels like a historical building from the logging or gold mining days. Service was excellent and entertaining with table side prepared Caesar salad to start the meal and a bananas foster prepared at your table to end the meal, with all the food & drinks flowing in between. Can't believe I've taken this long to dip into the Scopazzi's pool. I've driven by for decades, always wondered about it, but have never wondered in. It's one of my new favorites. Super cool atmosphere, feels like an old hunting lodge from yesteryear. Food was good, a lot of the classics, some prepared table side. Drinks and dessert were amazing. Everyone recommended this place so we were excited to check it out. Now I'm convinced that everyone recommends it bc it's one of the few finer dining establishments. The food is okay, nothing spectacular and the staff although kind, they're inconsistent. We sat for 25+ without being served; no water no bread no service. Which was shocking considering by 6 waiters walked by us and made zero eye contact. The waiter got our drink wrong, the prime rib was COLD, and they said it's bc they were so busy. Respectfully, Applebees is busier on a random Tuesday than this was on a Saturday night. The ambiance is unique so at least there's that. read more

1st time, last time. Lillian's in Santa Cruz is much better. The food here is mediocre. the service was horrible. The tables around us had different waiters, and they were very attentive. We wanted 15 minutes before our waitress came running over. She was very rushed when she did show up. All the tables around us received their drinks and food way before us, and we were sat long before them. Also, it was not that busy either, so I'm not sure why we had such bad service. Ambiance is fine, definitely old school vibe. read more

We've enjoyed Scopazzi's over many years. This was one of the very few remaining restaurants with original ambiance, great food, and excellent service. We went on a Thursday evening around 6pm. Not particularly busy but after waiting at the reception station for approximately 10 min one of the wait staff with whom we were familiar told us to sit anywhere while she was busy making a drink behind the bar. We looked into the main dining room and noticed about 6 empty tables full of dirty dishes so we headed into the bar. Went to a table that appeared to be unoccupied only to discover it was piled high with dishes. Back to the main area we sat at one of the unbussed tables. That's when we noticed that there was no one doing the bussing. And the 3 waitstaff (2 of whom we knew well) were frantically serving customers and not making eye contact. After 25 min of being totally ignored wife put on her coat and said "let's just go". Wow! I sincerely hope this is not the beginning of the end for Scopazzi's. Really hate to leave a negative review for what has been such a great dining venue but it is what it is. read more

Abysmal service. Came here with my wife and was sat at the exact same time as a table of older guys. The shorter fatter old woman with glasses sat us and promptly brought us (and them) water, menus, cold sourdough with cold butter (no plates, napkins, or silverware, and no drink menu). She immediately took the other table's order for drinks and disappeared off the face of the earth. We waited while the older buzz cut waiter walked around checking in with every other table, brought them their beers, and even the drinks of a table that ordered well after my wife and I were seated. When we got up to leave, they immediately said "have a nice night". Shame since my wife and I tip generously. We got in our car and went to Aroma where we had utensils(!!!), warm bread(???!!!), AND drinks within minutes of sitting down. Run, don't walk, away from trashy old Scopazzi's and go get a better meal somewhere else (especially Aroma). read more

This place is awesome! When you walk in your transformed back in time to the early 1900's with super old school decor. The building is quite old, not sure exactly but it's obvious this place has some history. They even have saloon doors to enter the bar! The food is exceptional as well. I had the patty melt the other day and it was the best I have ever had hands down. The thick burger was super juicy inside, almost like a bite of beefy soup. Somehow with all this juice inside there was not a single dribble on my plate. The bread stayed crisp and the grilled red onions and cheese just topped off this perfectly cooked creation. Even the fries were exceptional, battered and crisp like they should be. I was able to get some chipotle aioli on the side for dipping as well, yum! I already mentioned they have a bar and it is full service. Decent draught beer selection and just about any booze you care to drink they have. This place is not close to my home but when I'm in the area I will always stop in, you should too! read more

My friend had All a Dream, also very good. The wine offerings are minimal, this is very much a cocktail or champagne type of place, with caviar being the primary food service. Speaking of service, the bartender was excellent, both in his mixology and demeanor. It took awhile to get the drinks, but I assume that was due to the complexity of the cocktails, paired with having just opened the doors a few min earlier. Two notes: 1. I don't have the details of the cost for an event, but it was money well spent to share our work with a new audience. The bar provided hosted champagne, Old Fashions, & filtered water for our guests. Decor is already amazing & bartender is gifted. He's like a scientist with an aperitif laboratory!! It was fun to watch him create & design & coax & mix & pour. Small bar with nice seating at bar or booths with chairs. Everything is well-maintained and clean. Lighting is perfect with fun accents on walls & tables. Lots of nearby street & lot parking.
