I came on a Saturday night and it was packed. But they did have a table for me right away. I was warned though that service will be slow cuz it's so busy. I sat for a good 15 mins and this older grey haired waiter was helping the tables around me but he wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Then a female waitress came over and apologized for the wait and said there was a miscommunication as to who was serving my table. Would have been nice if the male waiter at least said someone would be with me and tell the waitress that her table was waiting to be helped. Anyway, since the female waitress took over everything was smooth sailing. I ordered the wood plank salmon with a house salad to start. The house salad was actually really good. Nice and fresh with a good selection of veggies including beets. The salmon was good. The sauce was a little odd, but the veggies and rice were tasty. Not sure that the quality and portion size justified the $42 price tag, I'll probably come back to try their pasta. It's an Italian place after all. read more

Came here with my family for a nicer dinner on a Saturday evening and there was plenty of seating. We sat outside on the patio because we brought our dog, which they very kindly accommodated. They were happy to give us a water bowl for him. Great service, very friendly servers! The actual interior of the restaurant is very much a snapshot of an older era of Boulder Creek - the inside gives a dark, antique, museum-like ambiance with lovely live piano. The bar area especially looked inviting. I got the Calamari Steak and had it with the salad. The calamari was grilled well and cut easy, and the flavor was rather plain but texture was great, which I prioritize in calamari because overcooking it can cause it to be like rubber. The vegetables felt very fresh as well. They gave my mother the incorrect dish, but when they realized this, they immediately went to make her the pasta that she originally ordered without hesitation and left her with the accidental salmon dish she was served as well. I was excited to dine here due to its history (Est in 1912!). The high beamed ceilings redwood throughout, fantastic building. Went with friends on a Labor Day weekend and Scopazzi's was not prepared. It seems they had a large influx seated all at once - problem #1, not managed properly; i.e. little advance planning, and did not have experience enough to at least stagger seating so they could handle customers appropriately. My friends and I were enjoying ourselves and were easy going, however. Our waiter was flustered and sweating. It took about 30 minutes to get our drinks, ok, fine. Appetizer of Oysters Rockefeller came and the sauce on top tasted like a large dollop of mayonnaise, so bad, after trying one each we left the rest untouched. Entrees were nothing short of exceptionally bad. I split the Halibut with muscles and clams, the plate was hot and every item on it was completely devoid of any moisture. It was like it had been sitting so long under a heat lamp it completely dried everything out. The halibut was hard as if day old, and I have never been served dried out shellfish in my life. Hard to understand how anyone thought this dish was ok to serve. After waiting 1.5 hours, I ate about 1/2 of mine, due to hunger, but my friend found it inedible and left on the plate. My other friend ordered Linguini Vongole, (linguini with clams)- a very simple dish that is easy to make. His pasta was slathered with tomatoes and mushrooms, seemingly to cover up the fact that there were barely any clams. It was astonishing, nowhere in the history of restaurants has anyone tossed random ingredients into a simple Vongole. This is the kind of thing I might expect at a truck stop in the middle of Nebraska, but not a historic restaurant in the Bay Area with outrageous high-end pricing. Scopazzi's seems to be managed by those who have, at most, an outdated idea of hospitality and little management skill, and the restaurant is in dire need of a chef. It's like a price-gouging Denny's with alcohol. Go for a beer and the ambiance, but that is all. read more

We only had salads for lunch so it is hard to fully judge the food but the Cobb and the Italian salads were huge, filled with a wide variety of ingredients and quite good. Service was excellent. The place is a wonderful throwback to a different era but that is part of the experience. I look forward to returning for a full meal. read more

We went for a birthday dinner on Sunday 11/30. We had a wonderful experience! The service by our server, Allan, was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meals. This is not a rushed experience, there is plenty of time for conversation and to enjoy your drinks and appetizers. I love how historic the restaurant is. Atmosphere is really interesting. Not sure if there's certain lore to the building but it almost felt like a converted house. The interior was also really cool. Liked the bathrooms. Lighting was definitely dark (everywhere except the bathroom) but that wasn't necessarily bad (at least during the day). Garlic bread was pretty good. Not sure if it was worth the money tho. Got a salad. It was kinda weird ngl. A lot of pickled veggies for some reason (in a Cobb)... I don't think that's normal and I will admit, I did not love it. Kinda made it fun. Something different. So disappointed. I've been coming here over 30 years and it's lost its way. It was a slow night and service was very sporadic. I had to send my food back as it arrived cold. I had lunch here today and was thrilled to hear that Scops is now serving brunch everyday! I ordered scrambled eggs with sausage, the plate included fresh fruit, potatoes, toast, and a lemon poppyseed muffin. Everything was delicious! The eggs were creamy and perfectly cooked, the potatoes were crispy and tender, the fruit was ripe and sweet, and the muffin was a tasty bonus. As always, the service was great. Niko was friendly and attentive. The kitchen was quick, they always get our food out in time for us to get back to work. read more

What a great lunch today! We went for lunch, a work lunch. They were only serving the brunch menu. Our waitress was so awesome! We had our hearts set on the lunch menu. I wanted the ricotta cheese ravioli with a gorgonzola cream sauce and she wanted the linguine and clams. So the waitress said, "it's not really busy in here right now, I'll ask the chef if he can make those dishes for you today" and he did! So accommodating! And it was sooo delicious! This is formal dining in Boulder Creek, so please dress accordingly; no shorts or tank tops. The atmosphere is relaxed, but it is a sophisticated upscale resturant. I decided to give Scopazzi's another chance, after a few years of not going there due to a drop in quality of the food. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and was very disappointed with it. The Marinara sauce was boring, pedestrian and tasted like it was taken right out of a can and pored on the eggplant. Actually most canned sauces usually have some Italian spices in them which I couldn't taste. The eggplant was not breaded and undercooked. Overall one of the worst I've eaten, so when asked how I was enjoying it, I told the waitress and she exchanged it for a cob salad. Kudos to her for that. read more

All the tables around us received their drinks and food way before us, and we were sat long before them. Also, it was not that busy either, so I'm not sure why we had such bad service. Everyone recommended this place so we were excited to check it out. Now I'm convinced that everyone recommends it bc it's one of the few finer dining establishments. The food is okay, nothing spectacular and the staff although kind, they're inconsistent. We sat for 25+ without being served; no water no bread no service. Which was shocking considering by 6 waiters walked by us and made zero eye contact. The waiter got our drink wrong, the prime rib was COLD, and they said it's bc they were so busy. Respectfully, Applebees is busier on a random Tuesday than this was on a Saturday night. The ambiance is unique so at least there's that. read more

This place is awesome! When you walk in your transformed back in time to the early 1900's with super old school decor. The building is quite old, not sure exactly but it's obvious this place has some history. They even have saloon doors to enter the bar! The food is exceptional as well. I had the patty melt the other day and it was the best I have ever had hands down. The thick burger was super juicy inside, almost like a bite of beefy soup. Somehow with all this juice inside there was not a single dribble on my plate. The bread stayed crisp and the grilled red onions and cheese just topped off this perfectly cooked creation. Even the fries were exceptional, battered and crisp like they should be. I was able to get some chipotle aioli on the side for dipping as well, yum! I already mentioned they have a bar and it is full service. Decent draught beer selection and just about any booze you care to drink they have. This place is not close to my home but when I'm in the area I will always stop in, you should too! read more
