We met with the manager, Kevin, who answered all of our questions on the process to get our father moved, staffing, and care provided at Granada. Kevin is very kind, professional, and patient. He treats his employees with care and respect. The facility is older but clean and in a quiet residential court. The staff (one in particular whose name I won't mention out of respect for privacy) is AMAZING with our father. This person is extremely attentive, hardworking, and has tremendous compassion and care for the residents. We sleep well knowing our father is in good hands.

We had the opportunity to remain there, but my mother was very depressed there It was not what I wanted for her during this challenging time of her life. In April 2008, I was referred to several care homes in my area by http://www.aplaceformom.com. The home is clean, has lots of light and a beautiful back yard. My mother was only eating purified foods with a thickener. The owner, Rey Lee said they would work on that so she can start to enjoy regular foods. Well, by the end of the week she was eating solid foods. I also noticed her spirits were up. The care givers were compassionate, caring, respectful and kind to her and our family. This care home is one of two right next door that is owned by Rey. The women next door would also visit my mother. They spoke to her in her native language (Tagalog). I was very happy about that because I do not speak or understand the language. This was very healing for her to speak in her first language. The care givers were also proficient in English and I did not experience any problems communicating with any of them. In March 2010, we entered her in hospice at the care home. The care givers and hospice team worked well together to give my mother the best care during this time. They prayed with my mother, spent time with her watching television and made her feel like part of a family while I or my family was not there. I received a call early in the morning in January 2011 that my mother was not responsive and was experiencing labored breathing. I called my family and those closest to my mother of the sad news. We all came to visit her one last time and the care givers were very accommodating and answered my family's questions and concerns. We were there for nearly 9 hours. I am grateful for Rey and his team of care givers for the life they provided my mother during her last few years of her life.

For someone reason my first review did not post and so I am resubmitting because I want to share…read morewith all of you our experience with Sonata Hospice. In late October of 2025, our family was scrambling to find a hospice care provider for my mother in law. Finding a reliable hospice provider for a loved one is a daunting task often made under stressful circumstances. Our family, after extensive searching and disappointing recommendations from other sources, found Sonata Hospice through positive online reviews on Yelp. This review comes from a genuine family who utilized their services for a critical 10-day period. The level of care provided by the entire Sonata team to both our loved one and our family was amazing and far exceeded our expectations. We felt completely confident that our loved one was in excellent hands, and we as a family felt fully supported throughout this difficult process. Several team members deserve specific commendation for their outstanding professionalism and genuine compassion: Rachael (Nurse/Case Manager): Rachael was outstanding. Her work is a true blessing and a calling. She provided expert clinical care while simultaneously offering immense comfort to our family. The attentiveness she provided our loved one was consistent with the level of care one gives their own family. Her clear communication, explaining procedures, answering questions, and involving us in the care plan was a model of professional and empathetic care giving. Marsha (Home Health Aide): Marsha treated our loved one with dignity and affection, like she was caring for a member of her family. Her hands-on care was superb. Maria (Chaplain): Maria brought much-needed peace, love, and spiritual support during a challenging time, helping us navigate the emotional and spiritual aspects of the process and providing our loved one with that extra level of care. The Office and After-Hours staff were consistently responsive and efficient in meeting all our immediate needs. The support they extended through the difficult moment when our loved one passed, provided ease and compassion during our time of grief. And our hearts were warmed when at her funeral we saw Rachael and Maria present and still supporting us. Deciding on end-of-life care is perhaps one of the most significant decisions a family can make. Concerns about the quality of care, trustworthiness, and prioritization of patient well-being over financial considerations are paramount. Sonata Hospice put those fears to rest. They are a trustworthy, compassionate, and highly professional organization that we wholeheartedly recommend to any family navigating the hospice journey. I hope this review makes the post and can provide another family with reassurance.

I just wanted to share how grateful we are for the support we received. It was mostly my aunt having to take on all the complicated decisions but the hospice employees provided compassion and support. The chaplain, Maria was very calming-never pushy, just compassionate and loving during a really overwhelming time. The social worker, Melinda was also wonderful, helping us navigate everything with so much patience. My aunt commented on how after her visits, she felt happier because of her positive presence. Thank you Sonata hospice, this experience was hard and I especially worried for my aunt but the team made the experience much more bearable. Both of them made a difficult situation feel a little lighter, and their kindness made a real difference for our family. We truly appreciated the care and respect they showed every step of the way

I sometimes become skeptical over Yelp reviews wondering who is actually writing them. What I'm…read moreabout to write is from the heart and if anything, I've understated the facts. If you have ever had to go through the process of finding suitable care for a loved one then you already know what a nightmare that can be. Their are facility owners who highly exaggerate their level of care, unqualified staff and unsuitable living conditions not to mention abuse. After several disastrous and dangerous attempts at placements for my Great Aunt and Mother, God blessed our family with Genesis Care Home for The Elderly in Vallejo. My Great Aunt was in her late 90's and my Mother suffered from Vascular Dementia. We had removed them from an unsuitable care facility and moved them right into Genesis Care Home after just one meeting with Sharon, the owner. After what my Mom and Aunt had been through, I was very direct in telling Sharon what level of care we were looking for and Sharon was equally honest and forthcoming about the level of care she provided and her philosophy on the care for the elderly. Let me start with the word Compassion. No matter how disoriented, difficult or delusional my mother or aunt became, the entire staff always remained compassionate, respectful and loving. The staff came into their rooms with a smile and spent many hours just laughing and talking with them. They took the time to ask them questions about their lives and treated them like family. My Mom even gave them each nicknames. We are a very large family who would drop by all the time unannounced and always Mom and Auntie were clean, bathed and very well fed. The food that was prepared for them was spectacular....and I'm a retired Caterer! Anytime of the day, the residents can help themselves to snacks or fresh fruit. During the Holidays and their birthdays the spread they put out is unbelievable and all family members are not only welcomed but encouraged to stay and join in. Genesis actually took the time to find out what my Moms favorite foods and T.V. programs were and made sure both were provided. The staff regularly took the time to call and express their concerns over medications, behavioral changes or their general happiness and comfort so as a team, we could make whatever adjustments were necessary to make their daily lives better. Both my Aunt and Mom have passed now, but I will continue to stop by for a visit to Genesis Care Home, to visit this very special place, and this group of phenomenal ladies. I am forever grateful, Diana A.

I googled Hospice and came across MD Choice that had some good reviews. I had no idea who I was calling but there had to have been some divine intervention pushing me to this call and this company. After a few questions I received a call from Dr De Leon who was the most compassionate and caring doctor I have come across. He sensed my immediate need, came straight out to the house, assessed my mother and went himself to the pharmacy to pick up the needed medications. He knew the urgency and took it upon himself to do all the footwork. He obtained the needed comfort medication, stabilized my mother and allowed my mother to pass peacefully all within a matter of hours from making that initial call. When she did pass that evening, he again, arranged for everything from the pronouncing to the calls according to the pre-arrangements. Without MD Choice and the connection with Dr De Leon, I don't know how I would have been able to handle the situation. His immediate response on a Sunday, his Taking control of the situation and quick actions made such a difference in the final few hours my mother had. If you find yourself in a situation like this and needing someone to help in this time, I highly recommend MD Choice and Dr De Leon. I am forever grateful to MD Choice and Dr De Leon for acting so quickly and with such caring and love in this terrible time of need. My mother-in-law needed a place she could afford with just her disability and social security income. We assumed she would be lucky to get anything and did not have high hopes. We have not seen my mother-in-law this happy in a long time. Previously, she basically sat in her studio apartment smoking cigarettes, drinking diet coke and waiting to die. Now she eats actual, well planned meals, sitting with the same group of cronies each meal. She can't smoke in her room, so she's getting a little exercise each day walking out to the smoking area. She goes to watch movies with friends in the common area. Despite having recently begun hospice care, she looks healthier that she has in years. I will now take my son to see her since there are places we can visit with her that aren't clouded in decades of old smoke and nicotine. One would think that a place that would accept her (based on her income and credit rating) would have been the dredges of nursing homes, but this place is clean, well organized and pleasant to visit. On par with a Holiday Inn. The staff is exceedingly helpful and friendly. They helped her hang her posters and will come get her with a wheelchair at 3 am if she "needs" a smoke and is not up to the task of walking at that time of night. They provide activities for all abilities and welcome visitors to join. She says the food is pretty good too, high praise coming from a woman who has had no interest in eating for several years. A few nights ago, she mentioned after dinner to a friend that her grilled cheese sandwich was cold. The chef approached her and asked if she wanted fries with her new sandwich. Later that evening, a hot sandwich and crispy fries were delivered to her room. We will always be grateful to this place for giving her a happy, comfortable place to live out the rest of her life.
