Excellent food! I have a deep appreciation for Haitian cuisine. I would consider this the best Haitian restaurant I have been to.

Yum!!! You want to taste the island? Come here, I promise, you will feel transported to Jamaica…read morewith the first bite! I came in straight from work, got 1 plate of jerk chicken and some Pattie's.... Wound up taking another plate home so the family could enjoy as well. The jerk chicken is so tender and perfectly seasoned and chargrilled. The restaurant is got an island vibe with some island music playing in the background (not to loud, but just enough to finish the vibe of being transported with every bite. I swear... if this place was beachfront or like it's own standing building with an outdoor tropical place... you would definitely think you got transported. It's super clean including the bathrooms. The owner is filled with joy everytime I saw someone walk in/leave. My server was Lucy (she's also a bartender there), if you go.. ask for Lucy (she work the later part of the week), tell her Trisha recommended her With the quality of food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the amazing service that I received today... this place is going to be a neighborhood favorite without a doubt!

The beef patty was badly burned and the oxtail and brown chicken smelled spoiled as if they had let the food sit out for longer than it should and then heated it up and served it the smell and taste was overwhelming so as I took a closer look I saw white spots on the oxtail that looked as if mold may have began growing. not to mention the flavor was not there at all and overall I just would not recommend this place

Best Jamaican food I've had in Jacksonville Thus far!! Small family owned spot on the Westside…read more. from the moment you walk in you feel the authentic culture of Jamaica.. service is usually quick since all the food is on the line already prepared.. I tried the oxtails and brown stew chicken.. oxtails were tender and fall off the bone just how i like, very little fat mostly meat great flavor Brown stew chicken was well seasoned Cabbage was nice and seasoned Rice was a little mushy but still good flavor Homemade fruit punch was tasty, mango passion fruit juice was refreshing, tasted like they squeezed the fruit inside the bottle.. Patty was a bit spicy but tolerable.. overall i will be driving the 25 mins when i have a craving for some good Jamaican food..

This is the most disorganized restaurants in America…read more During my visit, I waited over 40 minutes for a takeout meal. It was clear that delivery orders were being prioritized over in-person diners, which is unacceptable. Despite having ten staff members behind the counter, the service was remarkably slow, and the manager on duty appeared to lack the necessary training in operations and staff management. (5/22/26 afternoon) Furthermore, the quality of the food was disappointing. The jerk pork was dry and the jerk chicken did not meet Jamaican standards. Additionally, after being informed that my original side order was unavailable, I was inappropriately asked to pay an extra fee for a replacement. I strongly recommend that they re-evaluate workflows and prioritize walk-in customers. Customers should never have to wait for meals, while Stars prepare Call-In Orders. Folks, avoid this restaurant and choose another restaurant that values its customer. TEN staff working behind the counter are incapable of serving customers within ten minutes.

There was island music playing in the background to set the vibe, along with a map of the Caribbean at every table. My jerk chicken came out quickly and was delicious. The plantains were the perfect consistency, which is important to me because some places dry them out. I asked for a side of pepper sauce and it's quite hot, so consider yourself warned! While I was dining, the owner, Peter, came over and was chatting with the patrons. The ladies at the next table clearly knew him well, and I love that there are local relationships at the restaurant. It was fascinating hearing about his transition from the finance industry in Trinidad to being a restaurant entrepreneur! I only wish I had had had space to try the rum cake. It would be a joy to come back to Irie Diner and support a local business!
