The salad and greens added the lightness to balance everything out. We each also got a drink to cool off. She got the fresh mango juice and I got the lemon with mint. Both were 10/10. Comes in cheese, spinach, ground beef, or pepperoni. Very small inside, but bright and clean. Baklava was much to our liking, where you get that clear taste of nuts and honey, but without the cloying sweetness. The whoopie pie was not to our preference. Objectively high quality and tasty enough, but we were overwhelmed by chocolate. I am looking forward to watching their business mature, and to trying their other pide. If all they did was pide and baklava, I'd still love this place. Give it a try!

Here are a few tasty details about Sultan Turkish Bakery. Occupying the former K Town Imports spot at Havana/Jewell, one could be forgiven for thinking Sultan is indeed in a completely different space - the atmosphere is much more intimate and full of light than you may recall. And it's just as well, as this allows the bakery to more flatteringly show off its delicious treats. On the savory side, why not try the seedy (and sizable) sesame rings known as Simit (these are especially good with soft triangles of creamy Lebanese cheese)? You could also partake in slices of a beef pie (Pide) sided with spicy chili sauce. But yes, I know you were probably expecting to hear about sweet items too, and those are equally noteworthy. For example, the pistachio eclair is a squishy, creamy delight that lingers on the palate with each bite. Or how about a slice of decadent honey cake? To complete things, the cooler is stocked with numerous beverages, including Uludağ soda from Turkey.
