I have literally Stuffed my face in Seven Ate Nine on an almost daily basis for around 8 years now and have never once tired of the multitude of combinations, nor the freshness of the produce. The owner is a straight talkin Dude who just loves to blast some rockin' tunes and plug local gigs while he whips up his jaw-busting megaliths of tastiness. Hang around for endless cups of tea/coffee and you can shoot the breeze with him about near enough anything.
The shop itself is located... half way up High Street - just round on Bingham Street actually - out the back of the Flagship Centre, making it a pretty sweet spot easily accessible on foot from all directions. If you're driving down, either park for free at the Harbour carpark and wander up (useful for walking off the food afterwards!) or else drive past the shop and see if there's space outside the Hyundai dealers (up to one hour).
NB. For a quick takeaway in the car: if you're on good terms with him, (and know what you want in advance!) you can always park in the bus stop - jump out, order food and he'll bring it out to you before the traffic wardens catch a whiff of you...! Pre order by telephone for best results ;)
Now - My ultimate sandwich (after years of thorough experimentation) would surely be: corrination curry sauce, bacon, sausage, cheese, pineapple, doritos and salad on toasted granary. I also like the tandoori chicken tikka white sub when I have a hangover. The Bacon Chilli Crunch, the Amigo, and the Kebabwich are all Epic alternatives that never fail to satisfy. I even dabble with the occasion 'Elvis' once in a while (though for the sake of the banana/peanut butter/bacon/jelly combination I'd recommend it as a toasted sandwich rather than a sub).
So the next time you're hungry and find yourself at the foot of High Street - go in, place an order, pull up a pew, and wait for him to bring to you a towering testament to sandwiches.
