This place is open now about two weeks. For us it's very welcome. Up to now the choices here were…read moremostly junk food: KFC, Subway, Burger King who all sell completely rubbish coffee and industrially made over priced, processed junk food. There's pretty good coffee from Starbucks & Costa who each sell over-priced pre packed factory made food, but this new place provides freshly made good food in comfy surroundings and there's darn good Italian coffee too. The key idea here is to pick or build your own sandwich or salad from various breads, greens like lettuce, spinach, kale, rocket, then proteins which I recognise as chicken, pork, salmon; oddly there's cheeses like halloumi and feta listed on the menu under protein when these contain more fat than protein. Then dozens of choices of vegetables from avocado to olives, edamame to pineapple and a selection of fresh dressings. We had mushroom soup (€4) with crusty bread and butter added (95c) which was delicious and an artic wrap (like a soft tortilla) at €5.95 with roast chicken, lettuce, tomato and some Parmesan dressing. Again very tasty indeed. Then a cappuccino and a flat white (about €3 each). The coffees tasted great too. So all in all the bill for two was €16.65. The wifi didn't work and it seems this is a teething problem. The service was friendly too. There's an environmental aspect here as the serviettes are recycled, and soups are served in eco friendly cardboard bowl.

The range of sandwiches was really good with the set line up of specials etc pretty good as well as the usual array of deli offerings to allow you to make your own. Both my wife and I got the "chelle" subs which were nothing short of amazing, really good filling in both quantity and quality. The coffee was decent too especially by deli standards (as opposed to dedicated coffee places). The prices were on the higher side of average although not too excessive and to be fair it was reflected in the quality which meant we didn't feel ripped off by any means, although of course if you're feeling the pinch in your pocked there is a Greggs not too far away! The staff were nice and the process of ordering was all COVID compliant and well run. If there was anything to add by way of a downside... and its small, was that the wait outside for the subs was a little on the long side given we were there at a very quite time (just me and 1 other customer) so I don't know how fast it would be if you are there at a busy time and in a rush. But all in all a great experience and will definitely be back again.

They would go down at half time of football matches and they even have a designated runner to Sunflower. In and out and back in the house to watch the second half. That's the beauty of Sunflower. The BBQ chicken melt with crispy onions is Harry and my personal favourite, to quote Harry, "crispy onions are so delicious I could eat them on their own!" If that doesn't convince you to eat at the Sunflower I do not know what will. How about the price? At around £3.50, it is hard to refuse and you can also make it feel like you are staying healthy by having 2 free salad toppings at no extra cost. With a town centre location The Sunflower is the ideal place to grab a quick melt or sandwich before you continue your shopping or get back to work.

Unlike most other city centre locations they don't mess around with hot sandwiches or paninis etc.. They keep it simple by offering an unreal selection of high quality fresh fillings and salads. The portion sizes are ridiculous (in a good way) they pile so much in it's hard to see how they make any money! My personal fav it's their club sandwich, this easily the biggest sandwich you can buy in Belfast, it's costs just over a fiver but would easily do two people. Along side the quality produce and massive portions the service is second to none. Bob and Christine run it and their banter alone is worth a visit, a nice touch is also the fact they give you a free apple with every sandwich for a healthy desert.

Then I realised that all salads are free and they fairly fill up the sandwiches and salad bowls look immense. They don't do toasties or hot food. All food is extremely fresh and you can see them chopping up all the vegetables behind, and the chicken is freshly cooked chicken breast not pre-cut frozen bags. Family run friendly business, and great to see these still exist and are going strong. You even get a wee bag of harbio on leaving - be warned he doesn't let you leave unless you take one!!
