I sampled the delights of this Stranmillis sandwich shop about two weeks before I moved to the city centre, and I'm kicking myself to this day for not trying it sooner.
The Fatted Calf is a superb little joint which does a whole host of interesting sandwiches and other deli items. The menu is extensive and vibrant, you can get your usual but there's far too much going on for you to ignore.
The first time I had a chorizo, feta and rocket sandwich, served on a granary roll. It was £4.50 but you certainly get what you pay for. Moist, hot sausage, large chunks of milky, salty cheese and peppery rocket.
The sausage rolls are amazing as well. Not overly flaky, filled with homemade pork mince well seasoned with plenty of fresh herbs. read more
