The standard is always good if you just want a quick bite to eat. Everything is always well cooked and things are served fast, which are the main things you are looking for in a fast food outlet. Where it has the edge on takeaways and chip shops is its small but perfectly formed deserts range, as it has a lot of keenly priced ice cream sundaes and muffins that are very nice for the minimal price! My best Supermac's memory thought is as part of the Des Bishop Work Experience that was on RTE a few years ago. I always try to ring ahead, they'll tell you it will be five minutes but if you call in about 10-15 after you hang up then you will just walk in and pick up the food straight away. If you go in often enough they'll get to know your order and are the friendlist blokes in the world. They know me by name and it really makes you want to go back over and over. It really, really doesn't get much better. Especially if you get a Funghi Pizza or even a Doner Kebab on Chips. The kebab sauce is amazing.

This was my first time in here in years and it's had a major upgrade. They now have 6 self service touch screen ordering systems, an Argos style collection system, built in iPads on the high tables and as mentioned, table service! Other than that it's your standard McDonalds. Today at around 1pm it was ridiculously busy with the hangover crowds but there's one benefit to this - all the food is fresh! The food is cooked in beef dripping. There is no substitute good enough, groundnut, peanut, rapeseed, olive, corn oils none come close. The batter was towards thin and I like that, and to be fair the food sat in a take out bag until I got home and put out the plates and do on. Despite this the food was excellent, perfectly good food and still quite warm. A chip buttie was a must. Now I've eaten some of the finest foods on earth but I gotta tell ya the taste of a white soft pan bread chip buttie with a bit of salt and a generous slap of butter is wonderful made all the better with hot tea. The glowing reviews are right, it's a great place. The next time I want very good fish & chips I know where to go. Maybe next time I'll sit in and have it at its very best. The staff are good craic after a night out but nothing on the mecca that is Piccolla. This place is pretty nice but why would anyone go anywhere else other than Picolla?
