I came to visit in early July. My hairstylist was on a long Summer vacation so I stopped in here on…read moremy way home one day as I couldn't get in to my stylist for another month. I showed a picture, which was a clear image of what I was looking for. The stylist, who I won't mention her name, told me what she could do and quoted me a price of over $200! I told her I wanted highlights "only" on the top, nowhere else. I also requested a deep condition after. Once she got started I didn't think too much. She started doing my sides, which I didn't want, but, like any customer going to a stylist, they assume they are experienced, so they trust them. Fast forward to my complete hair nightmare! I'm no stranger to highlights. This woman was layering so much bleach it was dripping all over, which I have never seen it put on this much or this thick. After that she put me under a dryer, for what felt like 10 hours! There were no timers, checking my hair in between, nothing! When she finally took out my foil she then decides to ask me "do you want blonde highlights or Carmel?" My picture was Carmel, I could see the sides of my hair and they were bright white. I am panicking. She starts putting on toner, a lot of it, I'm sure when she realized how white she turned my hair and thought she'd cover that up. She deep conditions me, then takes me back to my chair. My hair is basically black, which was so not ok, and one portion of my side missed toner. I promise you the color was bright white. She takes me back to drench my hair again with toner, which defeated the purpose of my deep condition. When I was taken back to my chair the texture of my hair was the WORST it had ever been in my life, and I am in my 40's! She or I couldn't even brush through it, it was so brittle and damaged at that point. After being there 3 hours now, this is no exaggeration, I had to leave before I stared crying. The difference between my pic I wanted and the outcome she left me with is actually almost comical. I went home, tried brushing it out and it was falling out in clumps! I spent, and still am spending, a great deal of money on products and treatments to fix my hair. When I was finally able to see my stylist she used me as an example to the other girls at her salon. My sides ended up just breaking off so I have little wispy side burns. When I wear my hair up the sides are thinning badly. The funniest part....she still charged me $100!! In good faith, she still charged me!! The ONLY reason I didn't pursue this and the damages this has caused physically, financially and emotionally is because most of all, I blame myself! I knew this girl didn't know what she was doing. She never tested my hair, which is naturally curly, never checked me and didn't listen to what I asked. So, In the end, I knew better! But I'm writing this to one, give myself some closure from this incident and two, hopefully prevent stylists from doing this to someone else. Lucky and her sisters are very kind and professional and every style I have requested has been nailed to a T. My signature styles are goddess braids and the famous halo in which I get attention for as soon as I exit the shop! I have to carry cards to pass out to everyone because Im constantly complimented and asked where do I get my hair done at. Be your own judge and try them out for yourself they are also fast and affordable especially in comparison to other African shops I have tried.

I have gotten box braids and Senegalese twist done here. Chantal braids my hair. They take appointments and it usually takes about 6-8hrs for a full head of braids.
