My friend found this place on IG because they were running a promo for first-timers -- 10 units of Botox and a small-area laser hair removal session for free. Since I've never done Botox before, I figured it was a great deal. That said... this place is extremely unorganized. Everything started with a random text from Diana, who was calling me from Florida, asking for a "mandatory" FaceTime just to run through health questions so she could "clear" me. It felt unnecessary and honestly annoying. When I finally came in for my appointment, the receptionist had me check in on an iPad, which had another six forms with the exact same questions I'd already answered. They could've easily emailed these ahead of time. After that, I waited about 30 minutes past my scheduled time before being seen. The whole process felt like a headache. The laser hair removal itself hurt more than expected, and the "cold" air from the machine wasn't cold at all. It was warm, uncomfortable and made everything sting. I'm comparing this to laser away's machine (still have packages there). The only saving grace was the girl who treated me -- I think her name was Taj(?). She was so friendly, patient and genuinely made the experience feel better. Her energy was warm, she addressed all my concerns and she honestly became the highlight of the visit. My friend told me about SEV Laser after her son asked why I had a mustache. Ahh, kids--aren't they wonderful? Anyway, I decided to check them out and after 5 sessions, I was impressed. I bought a package (buy 5 sessions, get the 6th session free). I noticed after the 3rd session, the growth was much slower. This was in 2021 and now I just need to go once or twice a year for a refresher. Now, I've been going for underarms. I've been waxing my underarms since 2018 and while the growth has slowed down tremendously, it still grows. I want to stop the growth. I waited for 4 weeks after my last wax because you can't wax or pluck too soon before the laser treatment. After one session, the hair started shedding. I was so shocked that it happened so soon. I went for my 2nd session last week and the night before, I shaved. There was barely anything to shave. As for the service, it's been good. The front staff is cordial and I've had good interactions with the estheticians for the most part. There was one that was rushing me. It was ridiculous because it was the upper lip--that takes all of 5 minutes from the time I walk in to the time the procedure is over. Why are you rushing? I can't remember her name but I did tell the front staff right after the session that I didn't want her again. They marked my file. Other than that, it's been okay. I first started doing laser hair removal at SEV Laser. I only had 3 sessions with them: 11|13|20, 12|21|20 & 2|3|21. I purchased a 6 session package for full body. My laser technician was Angelica who was a sweet girl but clearly didn't know what she was doing. I know 3 sessions are insufficient to determine the efficiency of the laser hair removal treatments, but I will say that I saw no improvement at all within those 3 sessions. I did not even feel any pain during any of my sessions & this is a great indicator that the laser settings are way too low to the point where you're wasting your money. Also, my sessions were rushed & a lot of areas were missed. A laser hair removal session for full body (head to toe) should be taking a minimum of an hour & that's still somewhat rushed. An actual full body session should be taking around 1 hour & 15-30 minutes. When your full body session takes the actual amount needed in order to guarantee efficiency a little more after each session, that's when you know that your laser technician is the best & actually takes their time doing your session. That's when you will see improvement after each session & it only gets better after each session that you go to. If you want to waste your money & time, SEV Laser is the perfect place for you because they will literally start you at an extremely low joules setting & either keep it at the same setting or lower the setting for your next session. They do the opposite of what a laser place should be doing which is to start you at a minimum of 16J (joules) for your very first session & increase it by 2 for every session that you attend. I was coming here right around the peak of COVID & they had this ridiculous policy where if you were more than 15 minutes early for your appointment, they would have you wait outside even though they had enough space in there & literally 1-2 people (besides the front desk employees). You would have to wait outside of the building, couldn't be inside the building at all. I got into an altercation with one of the doorman located in the building where SEV Laser is located. The reason for my altercation was because I was on the phone in the lobby for a brief moment while I was folding up a reusable tote bag to put inside my purse. I wasn't in the lobby or sitting but I was standing while on the phone & was going to leave after I put the reusable bag inside of my purse. I'm fully aware of the sign in their lobby which indicates you can't be on the phone & was going to leave within a minute but before I could, I was disrespected by the nasty, rude doorman who was sitting on his rear in the lobby who told me I couldn't be on the phone in the lobby. It was an emergency call from my mother. . .What was I supposed to do, ignore her phone call? I could understand if it was my friend or an unimportant call, I would've definitely waited until I got outside to take the call but my mother is a priority. I'm not one of these new generation kids who disrespect their mothers. I found a much better place a few weeks after my last session at SEV Laser & I couldn't be happier. My new laser place consists of laser technicians who are experienced & knowledgeable. Also, their prices are unbeatable. Nobody can convince me that their laser place has better machines, technicians & definitely, not better prices. I'm not disclosing the name of my new laser spot for obvious reasons. When I first started going to the new laser hair removal spot that I found, they told me to ask SEV Laser for the laser settings that they used on me for each session. Upon their findings, they were shocked to see that SEV Laser was using the most lowest setting & lowering the laser settings for each session. They advised me to get my money back from them. SEV Laser had already refunded me for the full amount that I paid for my 6 session package without me even asking for a refund because they knew themselves that they were ripping me off. read more

Would leave it a zero star review if that was possible. First time here. Waited over an hour for a 10 minute laser treatment. Got into the room and the aesthetician already had the worst attitude. Asked me a billion questions and asked them twice although I already signed all of the paperwork prior. Instead of speeding it up, since I already had waited an hour, she decided to tell me to wash my face, and then when I came into the room and I was ready to start she decided to say I needed a different aesthetician because I didn't want do it with her. I never once said I didn't want her as my aesthetician I just said, can we speed it up because I've been here for over an hour. Of course, they didn't have another aesthetician and instead they blamed it on me having numbing cream as a reason they wouldn't treat me today. 15 minutes later, I get an email from the same manager that was super rude to me offering me a free session. Why didn't you just do that in the first place instead of causing all the aggravation and making me seem crazy. What a blessing that I didn't do it at this place. would not recommend to a friend. I have a rare skin condition, and my skin is on the highly sensitive side - I do tend to bring some nervous energy into the sessions because of this, BUT I had Damani today, and she was wonderful! She listened to my concerns, checked in with me, and was patient. She paused to make sure I was okay. Damani has a lovely energy about her, and she even took the time to chat with me a bit after - when someone takes the time to connect, it really helps me feel great. I have been going to SEV for a little over a year now, and while I love all the staff and technicians there, Phoebe truly stood out to me the most! I went in for my second full-body laser session, and she made it such a fantastic experience! We talked the entire time about life and hobbies to the point where I felt like I was talking to my friend, not my technician. She constantly made me laugh and made me feel so safe. She was also super mindful of how I reacted when the laser hit my skin and adjusted it to make sure I was comfortable and not in pain. She was also detailed and thoroughly reviewed the parts where she was lasering, taking her time and never rushing through the process. Phoebe also took extra time to explain how aftercare and maintenance work, showing me where the laser worked best on my skin and how to know if it truly got to the hair follicle during and after the session. My first session the person who did it did a great job and it felt almost painless and was super quick. The second time I got a new person and she burned me. I told her it was too hot and she didn't seem very consoling and eventually did lower it but she burned me so I decided to never go back. Tried out SEV Laser after seeing it on Groupon. I purchased 6 sessions for a large area. This included six sessions for my armpit and Brazillian. The waiting room and rooms where you receive the service and very clean and put together. Appointments are made months in advance. There is also a fee if you cancel on short notice. The staff is kind and welcoming. So far the results are okay, but to see really good results, you will need more than 6 sessions. They also recently raised their prices. But the service is good and the results are pretty good! Hair growth should slow down for A LOT after 6 sessions, but you will need a few more and then eventually you may only need a session every 6 months to a year, depending on your natural hair thickness and growth. The estheticians are kind and welcoming! They always make sure to ask if the laser shock is okay just in case it's too strong. It's not a big deal to ask them to tell them if you can't handle the pain! Technicians accept tips through Venmo and you are always welcome to ask for aloe post-laser! SEV laser is a scam and a half. Didn't make an appointment but their payment options are ridiculous. I purchased six laser hair removal treatments on one large area (listed below). The treatment area does not list half arm. I called and asked what size a half arm would be. Their employee said to purchase a large area Groupon since half legs are covered by large area prices. I purchased the Groupon, called back a few days later, and are now saying they won't accept it for upper arms. "For arms, you must purchase an extra large area, and if you decide to not laser your lower arms, that's on you," their employee said. Simply ridiculous that SEV would deceive me into purchasing a Groupon that I could no longer use than receive a windfall payment since the Groupon cannot be used for what I intended it to be used for. It was super easy to call and make an appointment for the following week but their website also makes it really easy to book everything you need. They have several locations on the west coast and this location is one of the newest! All the reviews of the west coast ones were great so, I had high hopes from the start. I came here 2 weeks ago for my treatment and I'm so happy with the results. It's just 1 treatment out of 6 though but I'm already seeing such a big difference I don't even think I'll need all 6. From finding the place it's a little hidden because it looks like an apartment building but their location is in the lobby so you just keep walking straight. It's super convenient next to a bunch of trains. I was also running 15/20 minutes late with New York traffic and called ahead of time to let the receptionist know and she was more than happy to accommodate. Checking in is easy with just putting your information in their iPad. The waiting area is super chic with a very modern design. I waited less than 5 minutes before my technician greeted me. I wish I remembered her name because she was the best! She definitely put me at ease. I remember I had laser done in the past and it was just really painful. The technician put me at ease saying that the equipment they have make it so it's basically painless. The machine blows cold air while it's working so it's soothing. I went to a spa to treat myself and they had all the services except laser so I had to find a place to do my back and my chest. It's been over a month and still no call back from management. I still have hyperpigmentation from their service...while they may say they stand by the work they did, they forgot to use hydrocortisone cream on me to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation. The lack of effort to make things right after the fact is appalling, especially given I may need laser treatment to fix the damage. I am writing this review in the hopes management will finally call me back and to warn everyone else about Sev. I thought I was going in for a standard procedure, and I now cry every day over my still discolored skin. read more
