Overall a surprisingly nice stay. We spent $255 to spend the night at the Loft Hotel, continental breakfast for four, and TWO days of water park access. The lodging felt very "old school" motel where you walk around outside, open the door with your key and it opens up to a room filled with two standard beds, a dresser with a TV standing on top, a sink and mirror, and through the door a bath/ shower combo with the toilet. Our room was unique in that it had a door connecting to another room. We locked it. The people that occupied it, we could hear them talk, cough, sneeze, fart, and anything else people do. Maybe next time we might spring for the thourghbred suites for the extra $20. Much more space and privacy. We let our penny pinching personalities betray us with that decision. The lofts sit on a high hill with many stairs to negotiate. There is ONE handicap spot, but some steps and slippery areas still need be negotiated. Please be aware of that. Also, be aware that check-in takes forever. It took at least 20 minutes and only two people were ahead of us. Sign waivers ahead of time to speed up this already painfully slow process. The water park was overall fun. Again, the staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest complaint were the new floors. Though pretty, they were extremely slippery when wet and both my children fell, scraped their skin, and bumped their heads. I witnessed this also happen to an adult and another child while we were playing with the kids. One of my kids had to be patched up by the staff because he was bleeding. They were apologetic, they had caution when wet signs, and a few people were dedicated to squeegeeing up access water to avoid a more dangerous kind of spill. If you come, make sure to walk slowly. I'm not kidding. Also, bring your own towels or be prepared to purchase them once you're there. Aside from the floor problem, the space was impressive. They had about 5 water slides up and running. Most took a single or double tube, but one fit our whole 4 person family. That was fun. They also have a splash pad for little kids, a fun lazy River loop, a sports section with volleyball, basketball and leap frog onto the pads with a rope. My favorite part was the indoor/ outdoor hot tub. Pretty crowded Friday night, but open. Saturday they had to close it after a child threw up in it. I'm happy we chose to go Friday night rather than Saturday, because it was uncomfortably crowded on Saturday. I guess everyone in the area had the same idea as us. We decided not to pay extra for the tubing hill, even though we woke up to fresh powder. The kids were sick of the cold. We sprung to pay extra and play some black light mini golf. The course was surprisingly fun and well laid out with interesting holes that wind behind and look out from above at the water park. We even got to see some people screaming down a slide. It was really cool. My favorite hole was the one that reminded me of the game plink-o. It was worth the money. Breakfast was in an impressive room at the saloon restaurant. Again, some of the staff were amazing, especially the cook who constantly was restocking the serve yourself hot breakfast items. You have a choice of someone serving you orange juice or water and they come around with coffee. The breakfast had an assortment of meats, French toast, cereals, yogurt, and bagel/ muffins. Everything was sufficient. After we checked out and had our fill at the water park. We packed up the car and drove to the back forty acres of this property. What a neat spot! Full of cabins, a western looking set up filled with shops, outdoor water slides, an area where you can horseback ride and an outdoor park to name a few things. That could be a fun summer place to discover. Overall, a few hiccups, but happy we discovered and enjoyed our stay at Double JJ Resort. I feel like it needs at least one more visit to experience everything it has to offer.

NO LIGHTS in the parking lots (very scary) and stairs were broken in multiple spots. The only good thing I can say is that my kids enjoyed the water park. Safe to say we will NEVER be returning.

It is rare when I write a review that I wish there were more than five stars to award. We spent a…read morelong weekend in the Manistee area and got a recommendation to eat at The Glenwood which was just a short drive north from where we were. I called for reservations the day before and found that only very early or very late was available. We also were given an option of seating in the restaurant or on the porch. We chose the porch and early reservation. We were seated at a nice table with a view of Portage Lake. We started with wine, (even though we bought copious amounts of wine on our trip, the wine list couldn't be ignored) my wife enjoying a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and me a glass of cab. It was recommended we try their Almond Battered Shrimp. This appetizer was served with a cherry mustard sauce that was wonderful. The menu said jumbo shrimp and yes, they were jumbo with that nice "steak like" texture and flavor. For dinner my wife ordered the Whitefish special (Whitefish is on the regular menu but the special preparation was a bit different). This presentation had wilted spinach, onions with a light Parmesan crust. She let me try some and we both agreed this was the best whitefish either of have ever had. I ordered the "Everything Tuna". This was yellowfin tuna with light and dark sesame seeds, poppy seeds. onion, garlic and salt. I ordered it extremely rare (so rare a good vet could resuscitate it) with wasabi. This was a taste sensation. Dinners included broccoli and an excellent salad. The dressing was so good we bought a bottle on the way out. A "loaf" containing four rolls was also included. Our server was Cyrillia and her service was as outstanding as it gets. Often when I'm enjoying service of this calibre, I look around and see if we just got lucky or is everyone getting great service. It seemed that the service standard at The Glenwood is high. On the drive back to our hotel, we tried to come up with restaurants we've enjoyed as much. The list is slim with The Glenwood at or near the top.

We called and fortunately for us they were available and took us in within minutes of calling! Now I do not hunt so I used this place more as a bed and breakfast rather than for the hunting aspect. Upon driving up to the ranch, we were greeted with nothing but the utmost respect. All of the ranch hands and staff are truly kind gentlemen and welcomed us with hospitality. We went on a day where it had snowed something terrible the day before and our car could not make it up the driveway. They gave us a ride in one of their pickup trucks up to the lodge and while we settled in, they plowed for us and even drove our car up for us so we didn't have to go back in the cold! They let us have our pick of the rooms available and even carried all of our luggage to it! Breakfast was served the next morning at our desired time and the cook was very sweet and catered to everybody's individual preferences with professionalism. The lodge itself is absolutely stunning and very clean and also quite large! It had a grand living room, a bar room complete with fireplace and stocked wood, a sauna, a massage room, and an open kitchen with an extra large dining area that opened up to the back porch that had the most beautiful view of the land below! We had the whole place to ourselves. It was literally like having our own extra large "cabin in the woods" to ourselves the entire night! The lodge was extremely clean and decorated tastefully. I'm not at all into hunting or taxidermy but could still appreciate how beautiful the lodge was decorated and built otherwise. Modern with a cozy feel! Would definitely be back. Would make for one awesome getaway with a group of family or friends! A++ and definitely worth checking out if you love that feeling of being lost in nature. :) calm and beautiful. Thank you for the awesome stay, gentlemen!

This place, if you choose to hunt here, will teach you how to clean, dress, and cook your venison! Even those who don't hunt will find a great place in the off season to hike the trails. The meals were delicious, every one of them! The room was comfortable and spacious, and there are only 6 of them, so you will never feel crowded with too many guests. 24 hour access to ice, fridge, and soft drinks is a nice touch! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come again.
