However, the store is well organized and adequately staffed. Employees are (generally) friendly and almost always very knowledgeable about their stock. The food basics are reliably available, and since that's probably what you came for anyway, you'll likely be pleased with your experience. I'm giving the store three instead of five stars because 1) they need to do a better job with overall cleaning, as the place often has an almost foul odor, and 2) I'm disappointed by the lack of deli options (fried chicken versus actual deli items), movie selections (too few/outdated), and bottled water (in a place with lots of well water).

The employees didn't come off real friendly at first, but I pulled up in a Porsche truck, hopped out with UGG boots, a Glock on my hip, and running shorts. That's not the normal vibe for this area. The place has everything you could need in the area, and some great prices on some great looking meat. I don't eat it, so can't speak to quality, but looked like some nice pieces. Prices a bit high on normal sundries, bit ragged place, and some things with mega long shelf lives were close. Parmesan cheese has a huge shelf life, and theirs wasn't too far off. So this is the best place around here! I recommend it! But it's an average to subpar experience when it's not the ONLY place to go. Heck, their chicken foot taxidermy is almost worth another star. It would be a 5* if they sold it to me. . . Hint ;) (Seriously, it isn't for sale. I asked lol)

We were able to leave with a few drinks and snacks, but our intention was to get some sandwiches and perhaps some barbecue meats and other things to go. Unfortunately, they were out of every single thing we wanted. It was around dinner time, and they had some cole slaw and macaroni salad left, and some other entree that didn't sound appealing. And they didn't plan on making any more, so we left without dinner. Oh well. I had heard that Willow was the place to visit when you're in Cadillac, and that might be true. But it seems like if you want the best selection, you need to visit when they open!

It's not an obnoxious combination like you find in some places; it's a nice, comfortable combo that feels natural. Next time we're in this part of Michigan, we will definitely stop here again.
