Turns out he didn't use long enough screws to keep the door in place. Looking more closely, I could see that he just used a variety of old screws he probably had laying around. Now I have to get the door reinstalled, but I definitely don't want Charles touching it. Money down the drain.

As the project went on, his skill and work ethic only became clearer. He came up with creative solutions to help me work within my budget constraints, and when my house's ancient plumbing made new problems, he came by for an additional, unscheduled day and worked long hours to install a new valve that would improve the water flow and heat. The system he installed works great, and I would rate his work five stars for that alone. But for the sheer amount of time and effort he put in (at no additional charge!) to tackle problems left by previous imperfect plumbing and neglect? I'd rate him ten stars out of five if I could.
