I was a part of their monthly service program, and had a small issue needing to replace a $16 end cap on our access pipe. The rep came, looked in his van to see if he had one, said that he did, and then quoted me $233! I refused the service and they still charged me $84 for a service call, even though Golden Seal sold me their monthly program with the benefit of never having to pay for a service call. Wow! They recently did something to their billing system - sent several emails stating their system was going to delay sending bills. Due to traveling, I generally pay several months in advance. I received an email stating I owed for July. My records show I paid through August......on my first call, they claimed I owed all the way back to April. My second call failed having them see or accept that I paid for 8 months - but at least they stopped saying I owed back to April. So I paid for July AGAIN just to not have my credit score affected. Sure won't pay months in advance ever again with this company. read more

We had a routine furnace maintenance recently with golden seal because the house we moved into hadn't had the unit inspected in a few years. Golden seal found a crack in the furnace and said carbon monoxide was leaking and recommended a new furnace. We have small children so we were concerned about the leak and wanted a new unit asap. The following day a sales person from golden seal came out and was at our home for four hour going over options and financing. This was a very tedious process as we have three kids four and under my husband and I were also trying to care for at the same time as this pitch. Golden seals best furnace and AC combo was quoted at $20k, a price that I know now with research is insanely high. Their "cheaper" furnace units were only about $1000 cheaper. It was recommended we get the new AC too since both of ours were 20 years old. Several of the finance options presented to us ended up not being available when calling for approval. (My credit is very good so that wasn't the issue, our sales person just had the wrong information.) This whole experience dragged on for so long. The sales person clearly wanted this sale for his end of the year numbers (it was December 29th) and said we couldn't think it over and he was uncomfortable even stepping into another room so my husband and I could talk. Long story short, one of the selling points of this "state of the art" furnace was the smart thermostat would be eligible for a rebate with ComEd and Nicor. Well both those companies needed an itemized invoice showing the price of the smart thermostat. Our sales person who we reached out to several times after our purchase and golden seal directly couldn't give us this document. We just have one invoice for a massive $20k price that has everything combined. You would think after spending this money they could have made sure we had what we needed to submit the paperwork for the rebates we were told we qualify for. I have huge buyers remorse and regret not doing more research before this purchase. I am very disappointed. read more

Even one star is too high a rating after my experience trying to schedule a repair. I made arrangements to have my thermostat/furnace control serviced after a recent power outage and surge messed up the unit. I called to make an appointment and their automatic answering service suggested making the appointment on line. I followed their suggestion and scheduled the appointment and I received a confirmation of receipt. The appointment was scheduled for a 4 hour window today. No one showed up and not one called. When I called to inquire I was told that they sent me multiple emails asking for additional confirmation and willingness to pay additional charges. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY FOLLOW UP EMAILS, TXTs or even a courtesy call. And my furnace and controls had been installed by Golden Seal! GS embodies the problem with digital customer service and why customers are growing dissatisfied with companies that hide behind repeated problems with online e service requests. It's too easy to blame it on "the computer " which in reality is blaming the customer for something totally under the control of the company. Equipment installed flawlessly. The sales guy, Bruce, promised us things he couldn't deliver (wireless remotes was one item among others). During the install, we noticed the mini split units serial number didn't match the ones on the contract we signed. Fine but we still haven't received confirmation that our current unit works in -20 degree weather, which in Chicago, is necessary! We haven't heard from the GM or Bruce in a week and a half regarding rebates, warranty, and account status information. We financed the other half of the payment and still haven't heard how much or approval status from the company or finance company. If you have a simple install, great company, once things get complicated, horrible company. Look elsewhere. Apparently, this isn't the first time they've withheld rebate information from customers. UPDATE: The GM, Dave is amazing. Mark is the only lead installer we will allow into our house! They came back out and replaced the unit with 2 units that reach down to -20. They also replaced an inside unit with a 15,000 BTU unit and we have been space heater free for 72 hours! Dave even processed a rebate for us. Dave kept my husband and I updated throughout the replacement process because it was ultimately Fujitsu that provided them with false information. read more

If I could rate this company a zero I would!!! Absolutely horrible customer service. We got a hot water heater from them last year. Their statements do not show remaining balance and when you call to inquire they don't ever call you back. We called 7x before we finally got someone to call us back. Only to be told we can't pay off the water heater early "bc it voids the warranty". Pretty sure this is illegal! To add insult to injury they quoted us 70k for two new ac and furnace units. If you want to save money, your sanity, and not get messed with I would suggest not using this company!!! read more

I just wanted to reiterate how happy we've been with Golden Seal! They are so quick to respond to our issues, they are honest and they have such kind employees! Cesar came out recently to help us with an A/C issue (A/C issue in late September! AHH) and he was super friendly and quickly identified our problem. He was here on a late Friday afternoon and we couldn't get the part we needed until Monday. But, he told us how to reset the machine if it goes out again and we were able to do that through the weekend to survive the heat. Then, when he returned the following week, he of course fixed our unit quickly but he also asked about the football game on Saturday that he remembered I was going to. I bought my new furnace from golden seal through Costco and had recently scheduled annual maintenance in Nov 2020. I have been receiving error code 271 on thermostat panel for couple of weeks, so I shared this with the technician. I was told that he is new to HVAC business and has only been taught to do maintenance service and can't help troubleshoot or tell what that error code means. I asked him to look up the error message using the error code on the furnace panel that lists all the error codes, but he still couldn't do anything. He didn't even bother to open the filter cover to check the filter, which they always do during service. I paid $89 for a newbie to come in and vaccum some dust around the furnace, while I continue to get that error code 271 - Low Press Switch Open. Since I bought my furnace from golden seal and have 10 year warranty on parts, I have to schedule service through them and pay $99 for another trip. I don't mind paying for the service, but why can't hire and send someone experienced who can get the job done the first time. I am regretting buying my furnace from golden seal and would not recommend them to anyone. I am surprised that they are a Costco provider. Find someone else who cares about the work and not just about money. I would have given them no stars, if that was an option read more

We had used Golden Seal to install our AC/Heater unit two years ago and perform our annual inspections. Unfortunately we had an issue with a part (not related to installation) that was an expensive repair and was still under the warranty for the replacement of the manufacturer part but not under warranty for labor. While trying to find the best option to get the repair done we reached out to Golden Seal as there was an element of the initial installation that made reaching the part that needed repair challenging. After listening to our issue, sending in some photos to Dave the installation manager and Dave speaking with his boss Chris, Golden Seal let us know they would come out and do the work at no charge - both addressing the issue of the broken part and the installation issue that made getting to the part challenging. Mark and Adam came out and fixed the issue in a timely manner. Really appreciate the service and willingness to listen to our issue and truly seeking to find a resolution. OMG!!! So excited to say that Russ from Golden Seal seriously saved me from being admitted to a fricken psych ward!!! Lol.. really, my landlord was trying everything all week (3X) not to do what was ultimately needed and "Plumber Russ" came and just made me fall in love with him. Joking...he could be my son. They didn't show up on the appointment, no calls at all so i called them twice and they said they will escalate to their General Manager and will provide me feedback in an hour but nothing. Seriously if this is how you do business please go back to the basics of customer service. If you can't deliver pls be courteous enough and tell your customer it won't happen and not just ghost us. Golden Seal sent a tech out to service my furnace that was not working, informed the tech that their has been water lately around the base of furnace on his arrival. The tech got the unit running again and said the pressure switch was starting to go out. I asked for a quote for the price for part and repair. The tech gave me a quote for a Lenox furnace my other furnace, not the Carrier furnace that was being service. (wow!) Later that night a notice water again by the base of furnace , so I googled the problem and it said to check the Condensate trap on removing the hose from the invertor a large amount of water came out, remove the trap clean it, it was clogged put back together and the furnace runs great with no water leaks, tested the pressure switch working fine. Another words the simple fix was unclogging the trap and saved over 500 dollars. It took 20 minutes for the simple fix. Save your self a headache, hire a real professional and professional company. read more

When you buy a new furnace, you hope nothing goes wrong. If something does go wrong, you're going to wish that you had bought it from Golden Seal Service Experts. How many times do you buy a new furnace in your life? Once, maybe twice? So, it can be hard to choose. I did a lot of research and found that Lennox was one of the top rated units. We are big Costco fans and since there's a partnership with Lennox and Costco, it was an easy decision. We chose to get the Lennox EL96V two-stage, variable speed furnace. We did get quotes from other companies. They were all pretty competitive. Right away, we noticed a tremendous improvement in the comfort in our home - no more 'too hot' and then 'too cold.' It was consistently comfortable, even in rooms that were normally cold. However, there was also a noise that we didn't have with our previous furnace - it sounded like a whine, sort of like a vacuum cleaner running. I contacted the office and they sent a few technicians out to address the issue. They started with adjusting some of the settings on the furnace. They replaced the motor. Then they made some changes to the duct work. The sound persisted and they elevated the issue to Lennox corporate, who sent over a representative to help resolve the issue. I had multiple visits and got to meet a lot of their technicians: Josh, RJ, Mike, Mark, Dan, and Miguel. All were very professional and courteous. I was very comfortable having them in my home. Service Experts made some significant changes to my system (filter, duct work, and insulation) that was not part of the original estimate - AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO ME! Ultimately, the issue required some special components from Lennox. I certainly hope that you do not have to have multiple visits to your home. You want it installed right the first time. But, if that isn't the case and you do have issues, you want to make sure that you are working with a company that will stand behind their name and promise of satisfaction. I want to especially recognize David Vick for being a professional and demonstrating unwavering accountability. That is very hard to find in the world today. Too many people are looking for the easy way out; want to play a victim; and try to divert blame. David took ownership of the issue and stood firm that he would ensure my 100% satisfaction or he would happily refund my money. David was a big part of the reason why I continued to work with Golden Seal Service Experts to get this resolved. If he was willing to commit the effort and resources, I was willing to work with him. In the end, I am glad that I did, because we have a new furnace that is comfortable, more efficient, and quiet! I would strongly recommend going with Golden Seal Service Experts. In fact, I would be willing to pay more, just to have the comfort knowing they have my back if something goes wrong. read more

Dishonest, not professional at all and only seemed to have slightly followed through with minor repairs from install techs because I still needed my a/c vacuumed and started up. I can't believe they are partnered with Costco, I will most definitely let Costco know my review since I wasn't Able or sent a survey review for their install and overall work. Brand new install both heat and a/c $$$ I'm at Costco all the time I gave them a shot because the reps at Costco are great guys but techs and managers suck. We had a problem with our air conditioning today-it just stopped working. We called Craig from Golden Seal and he had a tech at our house within hours. Dion, the tech that came out was Excellent! He immediately put on shoe covers before walking on my carpet (which I totally appreciate). He checked the unit inside and out, and expertly came up with a fix to get us up and running again. He thoroughly explained the problem, and our options and then patiently answered all of our many questions. Definitely recommend them! Original installation, in 2014 was awesome. Couple years down the line...we had issues with their customer service. I wrote an appropriate review and immediately, the GM, Dave called me. Besides offering a sincere apology, he got directly involved with our case; assigned a couple of his resources to fix our issue. It took the technicians couple more visits to replace a faulty part, but they got it done. Dave followed up a couple times over the next few weeks to make sure the systems were working without issues and as expected! Since then, we've not had any issues. Hi folks, I used them to service my furnace at therental property and I was very disspapointed! I have a furnace which is about 2-3 years old and it is still under warranty. The furnace stopped working and I called them up to get an estimate. They showed up an hour later but they did call that they were running late. They diagnosed it as a bad blower motor and notified me over the phone. The tech told me that it will take $700+ to change the blower motor and he has a replacement motor and motor mounts with him in stock. It sounded expensive and I told him that this unit might be under warranty. I told him that I need to look up if this unit is under warranty and he told me that he didn't have time for this and it was not fair to him that he had to wait there for me while I lookup the warranty stuff. I was fumed by his comment and told him that all I need is 10 mins to look this stuff up. This is the least he can do while he charged me $89 for diagnostics. I told him that $700 is a lot of money for this small furnace but he insisted that it will cost me that much. While I was looking up the info, he called me few mins later that my furance was under warranty and it will cost me $300+ to get it replaced under warranty. I endedup going the warranty route. Bottom line,these guys are crooks and tried to charge me $700+ and selling me a new motor instead of looking to see if my motor was currently under warranty which ended up costing me $300+ I will stay away from them. read more

We had them out to troubleshoot our air conditioning unit that was leaking. We paid one service fee, after the technician explained what was going on with it. We decided to wait before moving forward, which he respected. The following day, another Golden Seal technician, Cesar, came back out, cleaned the outside unit and put in 2 lbs of freon free of charge. Wow!! Customer for life. :)) read more

In July, 2015 I put out a request for bids for the replacement of my 30 year old furnace. I was focused on Lennox products. I received a quote from Jeff Melton at Service Experts in STC. They offered the most thorough proposal of the seven proposals I received. They were not the cheapest, but Jeff walked me through every detail of what they would do and even had photos of a similar installation so I could get an idea of what the finished product would look like. The day of installation they came on time, completed the replacement in a reasonable amount of time and cleaned up completely after they were done. We did encounter an issue with getting the proper thermostat, but in the end that too was resolved to my complete satisfaction. I'd recommend this company and Jeff Melton to any of my friends. I am rating it a 4 star only because it's September. Next April, if all goes well (and I think it will) I'll raise my rating to a "5". System worked flawlessly. These guys are the best. We just moved and the previous homeowner used them for heater maintenance. Since the heater seemed to be in excellent condition, I went with who they used. I am so glad I did! It started off with a great phone call and a 2 hour window for the appointment. This is huge for me because that means I only had to take a half day off of work. The technician arrived within that window and was FANTASTIC. We had Angel and he was such a help to us. He walked me through everything which I really appreciated. He did find that the capacitor had gone bad, but made it a point to show me the readings. It was definitely going bad and needed to be replaced. He also walked me through what I should and should not be doing with the furnace which I really appreciated. Angel really was one of the best service technicians that I have ever worked with. I already signed up to have them check out our AC in the springtime. I cannot recommend this company enough. They take care of you and don't take advantage of you. At no time was I given a sales pitch on blinker fluid or anything. They respect their customers and do a fantastic job. I have already recommended them to friends and coworkers. read more

I am thrilled to have found this company and highly recommend anyone else looking for a furnace or AC or both as I was.
