BUYERS BEWARE! My family chose this company to do their air conditioning upgrade with because they cost more than the competitors and we wanted to pay extra for better service. Let me tell you now that is not the case. The system was installed in 2020 and since then the problems begin: First, they took 3 days to come back and fix the screw ups they made during the installation such as spider web wiring in furnace closet, falling apart furnace duct work, some extra holes drilled in my house for some reason. The condenser was placed on an unlevel surface and was not attached to a mounting pad or anything for that matter. It was bouncing around my backyard until they came and fixed it. The a/c refrigerant pipes were not covered with insulation in the attic area because they thought I wouldn't take a look at it and see what they did. Next, in a week or so, the problem was me waking up to water flooding the first floor. After a quick inspection we noticed the water was coming from the A/C unit and when the technician came to diagnose the problem he found out that there was not enough refrigerant "R410A" filled during the installation process and that's why it leaked all over my first floor. Now a year later, in 2021, the condenser started to intermittently make very loud noises that were measured up to 80dB which is equivalent to a busy downtown street and is harmful to your hearing over time. I showed the technician my video evidence that I had of the dB reading and he dismissed it because he hadn't heard the problem himself which is very convenient for them. They came to check it out and said that there is nothing wrong and it is functioning as it should and charged me $89 for a diagnostic fee. In 2022, I tried to survive with the A/C being so loud for about another whole year but it started to sound like it was on its last limb so I made another attempt to find a solution with them and scheduled an appointment. The technician arrives and finds the problem and diagnoses that the compressor was faulty. He scheduled an appointment for the next day for a technician to come and fix it. But of course, the technician who was called to come fix the compressor says the he conveniently didn't hear the problem that the coworker sent him to fix in the first place so he left leaving me with a very loud A/C. A couple hours later I got a call from general manager, Mark. He says that they don't see any issues with the system and if we hear any issues they'll be happy to schedule another appointment and take another $89 for a diagnostic fee. Then I called the 1-800 number posted on the Service Champions website as a last stand trying to find a solution before legal action and the guy on my phone promised me that the general manager, Mark, will personally call me back in the next hour and he also promised me that he will follow up with me later today as well but of course nobody called me that day or the next. In conclusion, please look at other companies for your A/C system upgrades/repairs because these guys are only interested in selling and installing new systems but when it comes to needing maintenance or service they are completely useless. read more

Our AC went out on the 100 degree day last week and we HAD to pretty much pick someone to come out to our house based on online reviews alone. The service was nothing short of amazing. You know how people who lived during the 1950's always talk about how service stations would wash your windows, check your tires, fill your tank, and go the extra mile as part of their routine service? That is how I felt when Mark from Service Champions came to service our AC. The technician (Mark) was very professional, well groomed, and clean-cut. Before he performed any work he showed us a clearly written binder that detailed all costs up-front, and then proceeded to invite me to accompany him to watch and ask questions as he did his diagnosis. As we went up into the attic and outside to the side of the house (where the compressor is) was where he went the extra mile. I kid you not, as we were working in the attic, he noticed I just had just purchased a replacement shutter for our whole-house-fan, and it was just sitting there in the box. He literally helped me remove the old one and put the new one in. And this was really, REALLY helpful because we have an infant and it was a 2-person job that we were having difficulty coordinating. Another example of the extra mile he went occurred when we had to bring the hose from one side of my house to the other so he could spray-out and clean out the compressor from all the cobwebs that were stuck all over it. I have this 100 foot hose I've been meaning to get hooked into a "wind-up box" I had purchased and sitting beside the hose-bib and on my "honey-do list." He helped me get this done, and just this small thing he did helped clear an annoying obstacle my wife and I were enduring while we have the infant. There were also a number of little things he helped me with (like tightening my hose bib) because he had the requisite tool in his truck (and mine are buried somewhere). It turns out that we simply needed the condensation line flushed and cleaned out. When I made the appointment, they had quoted us a fee of $79 (I think) for the visit (which they said would be applied to the cost of repairs if needed). We ended up paying $19 for the visit because we agreed to join their "silver level" membership program and they gave us a discount. It's $12 per month (not locked into a contract). This $144 per year includes two visits: one in the summer, one in the winter to make sure the furnace/AC are tuned up and working at peak efficiency. Since I paid Blakes Heating and Air about $150 just to look at my AC alone when I bought the house, the membership seemed like a good deal. I will update this post as we continue our relationship with Service Champions (in the Winter when we get our 'included' visit for the membership). I would simply summarize my experience as being validation for why I moved to Rocklin in the first place a couple of years ago, and what a pleasure it is to support a local business like this. read more

I've used Service Champions before. I was very happy with them a few years ago and I'm very thankful that Ben B came out today to do a tuneup on our furnace! It's hard to find good, honest people and businesses these days!! So when I get exceptional service--I feel it needs to be recognized. Ben was so polite & personable. He took his time, he asked me lots of questions about our system & and how we use it and maintain it and any concerns we have. Then he gave me detailed information about my furnace & ducting, how it works, exactly what improvements/repairs we could do on our own cost-effectively and what issues we may be looking at in the future as well as the cost of those repairs. He did all of this with zero pressure and up selling! I ended up having him replace one of 3 blower capacitors, which was testing low, even without him asking me. He gave me all the details of how the capacitors work and what causes them to become less efficient and then eventually fail. Now I realize that it's because I didn't maintain them correctly! Nobody ever explained to us how to upkeep our system ourselves when it was installed. He explained exactly how to maintain & run my system throughout the year myself. He gave me the cost breakdowns of repairing it now or waiting for it to fail eventually. I ended up joining the MVP Plan because it makes so much sense and is a great value. Ben was so very professional and helpful that he deserves a extra thanks and recognition for a job well done and for being such a shining example of what good business looks like. Service champions is extremely lucky to have him as an employee. His character and morals are very hard to come by... Thanks Ben!!!!! read more

Service Champions Heating and Air came out to diagnose why my A/C was no longer blowing cold air. Their technician found a leak in the cooling coil and recommended a new system rather than fix the micro leak in the cooling coil. He proceeded to sell me on a 5 ton Lennox unit for $11,088.00 or $10,500 cash I agreed to the cash price to save a little money. Initially I thought this prices were for both the heat and air units. Sadly, after the paperwork was written, the total cost of 10,500 cash was just the A/C unit. In addition, the paperwork did not reflect the model of the unit to be installed. After calling their office the following day I found out that they intended to install the Lennox model XC14-060. I immediately searched this model on the web and found the following: Lennox XC14 Prices Key aspects: * 16.2 SEER * Single-stage cooling (less effectively reduces humidity than multiple stages) * 5-year warranty on parts * 10-year warranty on the compressor Cost including installation: * About $2,500 to $6,500 Contractors' wholesale purchase cost: * 2-ton: About $1,600 * 3-ton: About $1,800 * 4-ton: About $2,100 * 5-ton: About $2,500 PRICE GOUGING! comes to mind. Needless to say, I cancelled the purchase from this company. I have used Service Champions Heating and Air to inspect and service my heating and cooling system for the last two years and have been satisfied with their service. I understand that desperation can drive most service companies to be less than ethical, so I don't completely fault the company. I question the moral values of the individual salesman who would take advantage of someone's misfortune. In conclusion, approach this company with "CAUTION" read more

I recently wrote a 5 star review for this company but had to change it to 1 star after new information coming to light. I've been using service champions for years to do my tune ups and inspections so when I found out our HVAC system should just be replaced I didn't think twice about using service champions. I was quoted $34,000 for a whole new system with duct work and a whole house fan. This number was huge to me but I just assumed that's what this normally cost. They came a couple days later to replace our system and my father-in-law offered to pay for it. When he saw the amount they charged he was shocked and talked to multiple HVAC people he know. We then had 2 more HVAC companies come out to give us their estimate of the same work to be done and got a quote of $18,000 and $24,000. My husband tried to talk to them today to understand why we were charged so much more than any other company and they were rude and uncaring. They seemed to only care about getting paid. He at first wanted to talk to the manager and was only given our sales guy to talk to. My husband ended up hanging up on him due to his rudeness and demanded his managers number. They were unwilling to budge much on the price. We will definitely be taking our complaint to the licensing board, which was strongly recommended to us by someone in the HVAC business. I would definitely not recommend doing business with them. If you are going to do business with them get a 2nd and third opinion!!!! I forgot to say they gave us a cheap thermostat and charged us for the nicer thermostat. They also never gave us the manuals for the new units they resolved so we can't even apply for the warranties . read more

Where do I start. We had service champions come out and check our hvac system. Turns out we needed a new package unit and air duct system. We got a great price and decided to move on with the installation. Today I was the one who got the privilege of having these young men come to my home and fix my hvac issues. Austin and his crew were in charge of my air duct system, and Grant was in charge of my package unit installation. Grant was very knowledgeable and kind. His attention to detail and making sure everything was working made me feel a true sense of relief. Austin is definitely a character. He showed up with a smile and jokes making me feel like he was one of my grandchildren. Austin was very detailed in informing me of the whole process. I was informed about all air duct size changes, what and why he made design changes, and what ducts he wasn't able to fully replace! The honesty of this company is truly impressive from their sales team to the installation team. My son is knowledgeable on hvac, when I sent him photos that Austin had taken and photos of my package unit he was quick to reassure me that service champions is truly top tier quality! Austin and his crew made sure our home was spotless before leaving and let me just say that's impressive due to the fact my air ducts were broken beyond recognition. In my life I have never had such great service! Your company is blessed to have these young diligent men. Both Austin and Grant are true leaders and genuine humans making sure I was actually happy before leaving our home. Thank you! read more

We have recently moved to the area and received the offer in the mail for an $88.00 tune up our heating and air system, which we took advantage of. Pete, the service technician who was sent, was a friendly and knowledgeable professional. He informed me that the 27-year old unit was breaking down and helped me to set up an appointment with a service specialist. Greeted with a smile and a friendly demeanor, Steven Gilcrest helped me to choose the package that was best suited for my needs and ensured that I understood what I was paying for. The unit installation was handled by Adam and his partner (whose name was also Adam). They took their time and great care to ensure that the entire system was hooked up correctly. They went out of their way to patch up parts of the old system and showed me how to use the new Wi-Fi touch screen thermostat. Friendly and courteous they answered any question I had. My duct work was done by Josh and Tony. They were prompt and diligent in the installation. There was a misunderstanding and they did not bring enough registers for my downstairs. Josh personally came back the next day on his day off to complete the job. From they're courteous and friendly service, to their cleanliness and professionalism, Service Champions has made a good impression. I will conclude with cheap labor is not good and good labor is not cheap. I got my money's worth!! read more

When I bought my mobile home the A/C went out, the unit was only a year old, it took a few days to get a new compressor and it was over a hundred degrees all five days. Service Champion called me all the time to make sure I was ok in the heat, after the third day they offered to put me up in a hotel which I declined but did treat me to a wonderful steak dinner for the inconvenience. This was a "manufacturer defect" but this company fought to get this compressor replaced by staying on point. Two weeks ago my heater stopped working, it too was only a year old. Gareth fixed it and it worked just fine but wouldn't you know it, it stopped working at 3:45 am last night. Gareth and Peter were dispatched immediately, same day service and after hours of testing everything, it was determined the "mother board" was out. I thought for sure I was going to be without heat for a few days.............Gareth called, found a "mother board" available today.............ate his lunch while driving to pick it up and returned today and installed it and checked it five times before they left. WHAT SERVICE! Gareth and Peter are at least 3 to 4 hours behind schedule but they told me they will still attend to all their scheduled customers no matter how late it gets. Your service and compassion are remarkable. Definitely five stars in my book...Thank You Debra read more

I have been a Beutler customer for the 7 years I have owned my home. About 18 months ago, I had a bad experience with them. After ripping their face off via email, they corrected the problem but the situation left a bad taste in my mouth. My neighbor recommended Service Champions. Unfortunately, I had already paid for a 3 year service contract with Beutler and couldn't get a refund.... Since then, Beutler has serviced my system 3 times. The last 2 times, they recommended a $1200 system cleaning. The last time, the guy also recommended the replacement of some parts for another $500. He offered me "a deal." I decided to call Service Champions to get a second opinion. They offered me a system evaluation and sent Spencer S. I told him what was going on and he said he would verify what was actually necessary. He spent 2 to 3 hours evaluating my hvac and explaining how the system worked and what I needed to do to keep it clean and working. He drew pictures. He was a great guy. He said that the $1200 cleaning was not going to work long term and was a waste of money. He agreed that I would have to replace 2 of the 3 parts that were recommended. Unlike Beutler, I believed he was acting in my best interest. He wasn't trying to upsell me. My wife and I are extremely happy with the interaction and are dumping Beutler with 12 months left on our contract. read more

I want to give a shout out to Kyle Auer and our Service Champion experience. Kyle was very professional and provided friendly service after we found we wanted a quick check before begin using our AC unit for the first time this season. One thing I really appreciated was Kyle noted that our current Heat/AC unit was still under the original install warranty and instead of completing a fully service, which could potentially void the warranties, he limited what he did to a safety check and basic cleaning to protect our investment. I asked lots of questions and he was very knowledgeable and plainly explained on levels I could understand. He pointed out other various problems (roof insulation and hot water heater) and gave me options to remedy. While Kyle and his company could have provided many of those additional services, he was not selling me on those especially since that is not what we called him for. Im not kidding. As a 20+ year homeowner, I was prepared for any company rep worth their salt to get additional "coin" by upselling work. When I finally decide to take care of those other issues, I will be having Kyle and Service Champion on our call list. Kyle is the first Service Champion we have worked with and he is an awesome face of the company representing them. I can only assume the rest of his team is like him. read more
