Serious Brewing has a great atmosphere for a relaxing and enjoyable visit. The beers tend to have a slightly lower ABV, but the flavors are great. Conversation is easy here. Be sure to check out everything here beyond the beers - the swag, the other liquors for sale, etc.. It might feel like it's a little out of the way here, but it's actually quite convenient if you're thinking about a brewery crawl with other sites in the Schoharie and even Cooperstown areas. read more

Was driving by with my dad and said hey turn around I think that's a brewery and we stopped in. Quaint place and I was so overjoyed to see there was a resident dog Nook! I had one of their moonshine beverages and they have plenty of non-alcoholic selections too for drivers. We talked to the owner and his father and learned so much about the business and their drink selections. They even do nights where you can make your own candles and have a drink and instead of paint and sip, they do fragrance and sip nights and yoga with Dogs... So amazing. They also have a ton of merch and beverages to buy. we tried the pickles and the Mohawk Valley fire moonshine, and I was hooked. I had to buy one of each and while I was there, I immediately sent pictures to friends and can't wait to come back with them. such a wonderful spot and so happy to be able to support a small business. Definitely worth checking out as well worth the drive if Bill or his father are working! The branding and the stories are unbelievable. Great place to stop after you visit Howe Caverns! Small brewery with good selection of craft beer, ciders and wine! Staff was super! We managed to snag an outside table and it was a beautiful day. Note: The restaurant is not part of the brewery. We had to purchase a bag of chips (due to our wonderful Governor...) but we ordered food from the attached restaurant and it was great. Brewery staff has a sense of humor (note the COVID instructions in the picture!) Would definitely come back! read more

Decent little brewery with a nice bbq sidekick. I thought the inside was inviting and connected with the area of the state they are in. The bar itself looks like your typical bar and there is a nice variety of seating options, high tops, outside tables, family style tables and the bar so it definitely appeals to multiple clientele and is family friendly. The entire place was clean and the bathrooms were as well. The beer was average and tasty. The menu had a decent variety of styles and nothing over the top. A simple but good offering. I had a Belgian style ipa which was proper to the style in all aspects. My buddy had a flight and said all several of them were average and good. The girl working the bar was knowledgeable and the older gentleman was nice and seemed to gravitate towards his regulars who were all very nice. They have a good thing going here. A nice well kept establishment that has a good food offering next door, but most importantly decent beer! I wish them well! read more

They are so friendly and offer a variety of wine, beer flights and delicious wine slushees in two flavors. They let me try both and I honestly couldn't decide. You can also buy bottles of the slushees to take home. My friend tried the beer flight and said the beers were wonderful. We are planning on coming back when there is music. read more

This review is of the beer/drinks/bartenders - the food is NOT part of the brewery. They have their beers, which the bartender (owners father!) was well versed in. They'll let you sample anything, and can make good recommendations. They carry NY liquors, and make a nice mixed drink. The pretzels on the bar were addicting!! The owner chatted with us for a while, telling us about the beers and the Brewing. The music was a nice mix of 70's hits, no disco or anything too crazy, and they had Live PD on the TV, but the place was bustling with people and chatter, not too loud and clearly comfortable. And it was well lit! It looks like in the nice weather, they can open the garage doors, which must be lovely! This would be a great place to get a bunch of old friends together to catch up. This is a tough one to review. I want to give it a 4 star but since I almost walked out my last time there, hard to give it 4 stars. Rubbin Butts BBQ: food is decent. We've eaten there 3 times. Some menu items come out decent, others are a little bit of a miss, not bad but just okay. Prices are a little weird but mostly high and out of whack for quality/execution. Burgers for example, one of the best burger places in Albany is Crave. Most crave burgers are $10.95, including a French Onion burger with short ribs that is amazing. Burgers here for something comparable are $13. I did see them pulling a real patty (not frozen) out of the cooler which is great but I've had 2 different burgers and they were good but not worth anything close to $13. And I'll pay $16-19 for a high quality burger at a good restaurant. None of their BBQ has been that great. Again, not terrible but a little below avg for a real BBQ place. Here is where I really struggle. The brewery. Let's start this way. I've had serious brewing beers the 4 times I've gone in. I don't try any of the other beers they have on tap, so the beers are pretty good and I bet they'll get better too. So the 4 times I've gone in, I've been basically ignored twice standing at the bar trying to order a beer. 1st time there were no other customers in the entire place, they hadn't been open very long, and the bartender just sat there reading the newspaper. I'll give them a pass the first time, maybe while they were reading the paper they thought I was trying to decide what to order. New business though, you'd think an acknowledgement I was standing there would make sense. Bartender was super nice after that, so I personally believe the owners just don't have service experience. 4th time we went in we sat at one of the tables and I walked up to the bar (you have to order food separately from ordering drinks). A different bartender had 3-4 people he knew at one end of the bar. I'm standing in the middle of the bar ready to order. He's got an iPad out trying to show the people at the bar something. No big deal, I'm waiting for food anyway. But then I wait for awhile, he doesn't even look over at me to acknowledge I'm there waiting to buy their product. I start getting pretty annoyed, they aren't busy and I'm trying to order beer. I literally was about to turn around, go back to the table and tell my family we were leaving I was so pissed and he finally came over and asked what I wanted. I haven't been back since. read more

Serious brewing is a great spot to grab a beer! Fred and Bill are wonderful hosts. They really know their beer! Their passion is reflected in the way they treat each guest like a VIP. My husband had a stout which he really enjoyed. I tried the mango/haberno wheat beer and that was great. Their is a BBQ venue on site offering food. But it's the beer that really stands out. Awesome looking building to begin with, the beer was delicious I really really enjoyed their different Brews ... since we were the absolutely only customers in the place I definitely would have liked to have seen some interaction from the owners or the people working there assuming they were the owners. Most breweries I go to take the time to explain the beers and I kind of engaging. Certainly nobody was rude but they definitely lacked the personality behind the bar that is necessary to get someone excited about the beers. They should definitely get rid of the barbecue place that is attached to them the barbecue was cold the macaroni and cheese was microwaved, definitely not a good association for a place with really good beers... I wish I could remember the name of the beer I tried it want a bunch of awards. I will definitely stop back over in the area with a proper growler to fill. I just definitely will not eat the barbecue. read more
