I recently spent 2 days in the city of Chicago on a self care weekend. The evening before my…read moredeparture and to close out my weekend, I treated myself to a massage. Staying at my Airbnb (a high rise overlooking the city and lakefront) I had no intention to drive to a masseuse. Rather, I wanted the massage therapist to come to me. Given the space I was calling "home" for 2 days was simply spectacular and relaxing in itself, it was a no brainer. Since I'm not familiar with masseuses in Chicagoland, I went right to Yelp. A few names came up. Erica responded the soonest. My, I'm SO PLEASED she did! What a gem! It was a Monday and I messaged at 11 am to schedule a same day "in home" visit. Quite frankly, it was somewhat last minute! Not only did Erica respond promptly, she made sure she was available! My appointment was officially scheduled for 6 pm the same day. So I'll cut to the chase...if you're in need of a massage, or are looking to give an incredible gift...look no further. This gal is the REAL DEAL. I filled out a bit of paperwork prior to her arrival in order to better assist her with my needs, past history, aches problem areas etc. Heated table....warm blanket...incredibly relaxing. It's been two days and I still feel so loose and relaxed. I suspect I'll be booking in a more regular basis. Side note: Erica even asked if I wanted her to do a little video as many like to post on social media for content as well. She just seemed to have it all together. Definitely a fabulous quality and a welcomed one for a small business owner. Kind, knowledgeable and immensely skilled at her craft. I was truly impressed on so many levels. A true hidden gem! Thank you Erica! I'll be booking again!!

Her massage studio is located in her basement in her home; I recommend giving her a quick call when you're there so she can come get you! It was such a lovely space. Soooooo squeaky clean, dim lit, and peaceful. Booking online was incredibly easy. I was lucky she had an opening 3 days from the day I was booking since I wanted a massage as soon as possible. I did the 1hour deep tissue massage which was priced at $70, a total steal. When we got to her massage studio, she has you fill out a form with your info and any medical history or needs. I told her about my lower back issues and she was super helpful and accommodating. She genuinely seems like she cares and wants to help you the best way she can (she also provided many tips). She made me feel very comfortable and told me I can always let her know if she's going too hard, too light, if it's too warm, cold, etc. Again, she was extremely accommodating, polite, kind, and you could tell she had a guest-first mentality. She went above and beyond! The massage was freaking awesome to say the least. I felt like a new person after. My lower back pain was instantly relieved and she got out so many knots in my back. She told me I'll probably be sore tomorrow but that's how it goes after any massage I get. I will absolutely book with her again!

Patient, strong, and knowledgeable is how I'd describe our practitioners. They kneaded the knots, stretched and ambulated sore joints, and checked in about pressure and comfort level every step of the way. It was euphoric y'all! I may have to fly them out to the DMV area!

I was having trouble booking a same-day, had managed to book one, but the price was exorbitant. I kept calling around and searching on Yelp, and eventually the algorithm allowed A Poet's Palm Massage to appear. I am so pleased that I kept looking. I am from Los Angeles and have never had the opportunity to go to a Black-owned spa. I really appreciated the experience from top to bottom. I was offered wine after I entered and sat on a plush leather couch. I didn't take the wine, but water instead, and my massage was started very shortly. Jovan was incredible! He massaged the knots in my scalp, which White therapists never do. Little things like being unafraid to touch my hair, and an R&B/jazz/chill beats playlist made me feel like this business was made for people like me. I recommend that you get your massage from Jovan ASAP, because he will shortly be doing massages only for the stars.

O.M.L. Where do I begin!?…read more.. Well, I used to go to Cortiva in the loop for my deep tissue massages, years ago. Before Covid, I was looking to hopefully return, but learned the masseuses I liked were no longer there :-(. So that killed those plans. Then Covid hit and everything hit the fan. As things started to turn around I started looking for places closer to home. Starting here @Yelp then other engines. I came across Holistic via Google Maps, which had reviews attached. I loved that it is local spot, nice and quaint and virtually 5 to 10 minutes door to door. After going on-line to see services rendered and cost, everything was good. I made an appointment for mid week in the early afternoon. I arrived and the place is pretty nondescript and hidden right off the corner, right in the neighborhood!. It was great... There were a ton of little squirrels running around, a cart vendor was selling his goods, etc,. VERY quiet block/area in the neighbor. Ana met the at the door. I filled out all of the paperwork and proceeded with a 60 min. Sports Massage. She asked all the right questions, (where would I like her to concentrate on, areas not to touch, had I had any procedures done recently, etc,.).
