As a UT student, I've given this salon a couple of tries however I've been disappointed every time. Not only by the quality of my nails but the rudeness of the staff. I always do dip on my nails however every time I come in they want to do builder gel which I tell them I don't like. After arguing with them for a few minutes, they finally agree to do dip. The nails are fine for the first few hours till they always inevitably start chipping. Most of the time I go back to the salon to get them fixed and the staff is then rude get saying "This is why I told you to get builder gel!". Personally I feel like if you're going to offer dip on your menu you should be able to do and make it last and not scold your customers every time they want to get it done. read more

But I came in with my mom and we were both supposed to get our nails done. he proceeded to show us where we were supposed to sit and the lady began to work on my nails. They put my mom in the seat next to me, but never did her nails two employees came around asking her what color she wanted, and one of them took the colors away from her by the time I got my nails done they told us to go check out when we checked out. The guy seemed to be confused because he asked why we didn't check in even though he was the one who told us not to my mom asked why she didn't get her nails done because she had asked for two people to get their nails done and he said he thought I was only getting my nails done. This place is super expensive. A fill in is the same price as a full set, so if you do choose to go here, just get the full set. They didn't tell me this until after I was done. A hidden gem! Found this place when I wanted to get my nails done and couldn't get in anywhere downtown that day - and boy did I luck out! I've now visited twice (first visit was my first set of acrylics) and I'll be going as long as I'm in Knoxville. Jane - with a degree that undoubtedly over-qualifies her for this job - is so talented. I'll show her a few pictures with ideas of the theme I want (usually something that could easily be messed up with the wrong artist), and she smiles, picks out the PERFECT colors, and takes the time to add the details that wind up making my nails look amazing! I was in town for work and stopped for a gel pedicure. Called 4 salon's before finding this place- serenity was only one with open availability. So I made an appointment, was greeted as soon as I walked in by multiple workers and was sat in a chair almost immediately. The employees were nice, they had a hard time understanding English but were considerate about it. They have an overwhelming amount of polish colors to choose from. As well as dip powders but dip is extremely unsanitary. The lady who did my pedicure turned my chair on for me, handed me a services sheet and asked me which I would like. The receptionist girl came over several times throughout my service and asked if I needed anything such as water, snack, etc. Upon checkout the receptionist was friendly, professional and very personal. My only concern was the miscommunication between employees. A women tried to do my nails when I only requested a pedicure. She confused me with another customer because of miscommunication. Overall a good experience. I would consider going to this place again if I'm ever back in town. read more

I have been going to Serenity Nails for a least 2 years. This past week I had a 12:30 appointment with my nail tech. When I arrived Peter, at the front desk told me it would be a few minutes, they were just finishing up, OK, no problem. After 15 minutes I went up to the front desk and asked what was going on, again I was told a few minutes! In the meantime, people were coming in with NO appointment and getting seated! After 40 minutes, I went up to the counter and again asked and said at the very least you can have someone take off my gel powder! He then sits me in a chair and again I wait!!! During the time waiting I wasn't even offered a drink! When I was leaving I got no apology and not even a thank you! I will never go back if that's the way a loyal customer is treated! read more

Long story short, I'm new to Knoxville and didn't know any better. I was looking to get dip with tips for a french style mani. After the tips and dip was applied, I noticed there was huge gap between my real nail and the fake one on every finger so I asked the nail tech if he could somehow fix it (and this was 1 hour into the appointment already). He proceeded to tell me that it was supposed to be like that, which anyone who have ever gotten any kind of fake nail ever knows that to be false. He quickly removed everything on my nails and sent me to another guys station. This new guy starts working on my nails and things seem to be looking up. They were extremely busy and he kept getting up to check people in or bring people water. Anyway, he accidentally cut too much off of the tip on my thumb but at this point I was just ready to get out of there so I let him know that it's alright just please match the length with the other nails. He paints a french tip on one nail, shows it to me and asks if that's alright. I really wanted it to be good so i could get out of there but it was so crooked I really wouldn't be able to stand a crooked french mani for the next few weeks. So I let him know that i think it's kind of crooked to which he disagrees with me and continues to tell me that I'm seeing wrong? I'm not sure why but he continues with the other nails on my left hand then shows me but like yes it's still crooked. I was so uncomfortable at this point with this man telling me that it's not crooked and to paraphrase, "if you want a perfect french manicure you need to find a machine." I was very uncomfortable so I asked if he could just remove it and I will leave. I don't enjoy disputing about paying for a service so I ended up giving him $31 and leaving. To take the dip off she used a textured drummel over and over again (finally asked to switch to a softer one because I could feel it on my nail) and would put my hand into a bag of acetone. During the manicure she went to cut my cuticles with a dull pair of cuticle scissors and took off some of the skin around my nails. She left some of the dip base on my nail and painted over them. The polish itself is not uniform and I've honestly given myself a better manicure. Save your money and go somewhere else read more

I deviated from my normal salon to try serenity and I will never do that again. I get SNS nails regularly and I have never had such a bad experience. For 51 dollars I was given not the nail color I asked for, opi suzi shops and island hops which is a nice pinky nude and got bubble gum pink. I asked for a trim off my nails and they are now nubs when I had grown my natural nails a half inch off my nail bed. The tech cut my cuticle with the file multiple times to the point I had to jerk my hand away and left the salon bleeding. Needless to say I will not be going back and will be returning to my old salon. read more

So, he did give me a "non-seriousness sorry" for not getting what I want; However, I didn't get discounted for it, and I had to pay at the full price which I didn't think that was worth each of my cents. Decided to start trying this place since they are close to my house. I guess I wasn't getting the right nail techs because my experience here was not great. Been here about 3 or 4 times. The first time I got a pedicure and fill in. An older guy did my pedi and another older lady did the polish flawlessly. But other than that one pedicure the first time I came my other visits have not been satisfactory. Nail work is very sloppy. Crooked, uneven nails. Clumpy, peeling polish. Burning and cutting from the drills. Not getting the designs correctly and I really only do incredibly simple designs. Nails lifting after a week. I'm sure there are great nail techs there but this is just my personal experience. The pictures are of the last time I went. It was incredibly sloppy. Pictures are only about 30min to and hour after I got them done..not great. This was apparently $46. read more

I never come here for nails, only to get my eyebrows waxed (this is because they took a chunk out of my toenail when I tried to get a pedicure here) Generally, I am happy with them, which is why I continue to come back. However, this time, not only did she rip skin off, but there was a sign at the front of the salon asking customers to pay cash due to an issue with their credit card machine, and in return, they would give the customer $3 off. The sign, pictured below, does not have any specifications on what services would receive this discount. I chose to pay cash, and was charged the same amount as the friend I was with, she paid on her card. When I questioned the woman checking me out, she said no, that's only for manicure and pedicure. I don't care about the $3, what I care about is the fact that the sign specifically stated if you pay in cash, you will receive a discount with no specification of the services this applies to. If you've ever worked in any customer service industry, you know that the customer is always right. As the employee, I would have honored the discount as that's what is advertised. I will not be returning to Serenity, and I encourage anyone thinking of going to reconsider. read more

BEYOND DISRESPECTFUL. my friend and i came in for a fill in at 5:15 got out at 8 because we waited an hour. not only that, he messed up my nails so badly he had to restart. then he didn't fully wipe off the brown, so i could see it through the new color i chose. I tell him i didn't like the chrome he put on ONE finger, and he yells at me and tells me come back another time if i wanna fix it. he blamed it on me for changing the color when he was the one that made the first color all lumpy on my nails. i only wanted him to wipe off the chrome and keep the white but he refused so i had to keep the chrome which i hated because he refused to just simply wipe it off the one finger. i ended up with brown all round my cuticles, horrific shape, and lumpy nails.
