I just had the worst experience ever here! I have been going here for about a year now and totally thought it was a hidden gem, until today. I was getting my nails done and told the guy 2 times that I wanted them shorter. He never cut them, told me to wash my hands, then I came back and he got pissed because I asked him to please cut them down. He then angrily drilled them down, never asked if I liked the length, talked shit about me to his coworkers, then drilled so much he cut skin in 3 of my fingers! It was so painful and got so hot I pulled my hand away and told him it was hurting. But he was so "angry" at the time, he continued to drill the same way he had been and cut even more of my fingers, until they bled. Now my nails are not only longer than I wanted, but hurting! 2 or 3 star at best. It depends on who you get! All of the male technicians have done great there's a older female who is very rough and rude and I hate when she does my nails! She doesn't like to let the dip soak off she would rather drill your complete nail down to nothing and when you jump in pain, she gets angry and starts saying things in her language, and you can tell she's talking sh**! I've had her several times, and I will definitely refuse her if I go back there. She rushes and is very unfriendly. Everyone else has always been friendly and a good job. I asked for the most expensive pedicure and first she cut me while trimming my cuticles. She never did the mask. When she did the hot stones they were extremely hot and i instinctively pulled away and she grabbed my leg and tried to put the HOT stone back on my leg. The massage was no where near 10 minutes as advertised which I am thankful for because it was anything but relaxing and now that I got home and looked at the polish, it's very streaky and could have done with another coat. So cut me, burned me and the pedicure looks like my 8 year old niece did it. So $45+ tip not worth it. read more

I had the chance to visit Zen yesterday for the first time and I am extremely pleased with this establishment. The decor is gorgeous and serene. The interior is different from any other nail bar I have visited before. The pedicure rooms off to the side are private and take away the awkward feeling of everyone seeing every move you make. My husband joined me and we were placed in a room to ourselves so we were able to talk and enjoy each other and our nail techs. The manicure stations were set up for social distancing and I was able to watch as they pulled the tools used for me out of clean sterile single use packs. This is something I haven't found with any other nail bar in Knoxville and I've visited many locations. My gel nails looks amazing and I cannot wait to visit with Lee again. This was my second time here. The first time was good, I had a young man do my nails. The second time, I had Marry do my nails. It was the worse experience I've ever had. First, I asked her not to use a drill to take off my gel polish as it weakens your nails and it's more prone to break. She ignored it. The gentleman next to told her I didn't want a drill but she did not care what I (the customer) preferred. I let that go... She then proceeded to do my toe polish change and did not listen to me wanting my toe nails shorter. She was just filing my skin as opposed to the actual nails. The shape was mostly crooked! I let that go as well.... She proceeded to paint very thick layers of paint on my toes and not even close to the cuticles (see photos). As she is doing my nails she is complaining and giving me attitude. Not surprisingly, I let that go.... At this point I knew that I did not want this lady to even give my a gel manicure if she couldn't successfully do a good job on my toe polish change. So I asked her just to take off my gel and cut down my nails. She then attempted to use the drill AGAIN, and I had to put my foot down. I told her no and she gave me attitude but finally put the drill away. She then cuts my nails but not all short, so I asked her to cut it some more. In Vietnamese she complained to the gentleman next to her that I was difficult and wanted her to cut my nails so short and bleed. In response, I told her in Vietnamese "ma'am, don't worry about my nails, I won't bleed." She was so shook that I knew Vietnamese that she stopped talking trash after that. The story is not finished. As I walk up to pay, I noticed that the polish on my toes had spilled over to the sides because it was so thick! So I asked the lady at the front to fix it as it didn't need to look worst than it already did. She asked me to hold my leg in mid air so she can literally take her nail and scrap it off instead of redoing the polish altogether. I was so turned off with this place at that point that I just wanted to leave. The front desk lady told my technician that she painted my nails too thick. The tech then told her (in Vietnamese) that I wanted three coats! The nerve of these people. Needless to say that it's just toe polish and I will rush to get them redone elsewhere. The nail tech cut the tips right where my nails had grown out too. Why would I need tips of you were going to do that?
